Elegance received a modern twist in Ashley and Javier’s Corcoran Gallery of Art wedding. The couple’s unique venue selection was filled with stunning blush, yellow, and soft grey décor designed by Belle Notte. We love that Ashley and Javier even said “I do”on the marble steps of the gallery!

The Couple:

Ashley and Javier

The Wedding:

Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington D.C.

The Inspiration:

Our inspiration for the décor was classic romantic and elegant with a modern twist. The blush, pale yellow and soft grey floral arrangements gave us the perfect romantic atmosphere. The Corcoran Gallery of Art’s grand columns and marble staircase created the elegant feel and the fun décor — tulle table clothes mixed with mirrored table tops—gave the venue a perfect twist of modern.

As for wedding day fashion, I knew my dress would have to be as grand as our venue. The blush tone of my wedding dress and tulle skirt ended up being a big inspiration for the décor.

The Moments:

Our favorite moment from the wedding was the ceremony. Our ceremony was personal, unique and incredibly emotional. Most married couples say the evening was a blur, and while some of it was, we can clearly remember every moment of our ceremony. I hung on every word and every happy tear we shed. Declaring our love and commitment to each other in front of our closest family members and friends meant everything to us. Looking out at our loved ones, seeing them share our joy and excitement was beautiful.

The Couple Recommends:

Our wedding planner, Sara Bauleke of Bella Notte, was a delight to work with. We put our full faith in Sara and she did not disappoint. She helped us realize our grand vision and made our wedding day truly stunning and unique. There was no task that Sara was not willing to take on with a smile and a can-do attitude. Thank you, Sara!

Javier and I immediately fell in love with our photographer Michelle’s sweet, caring personality, and also with her talented and exceptional portfolio. Michelle bent over backwards to make sure we were satisfied customers!

Unfortunately, on the morning of my wedding I wasn’t feeling well, so we did not end up getting all the beauty shots of me and my bridesmaids that I wanted; however, Michelle assured me that she got several great pictures, and offered to retake photos at a later date. Her willingness to accommodate me put my nerves at rest on a very emotional morning. Michelle, you truly are the best!

NYC Meets ATX Wedding at the W Hotel Austin

September 2, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

NYC-Meets-ATX-Wedding-at-the-W-Hotel-Austin-Studio-Uma (7 of 18)

After Emily said “yes” on a Manhattan rooftop, she and David said “I do” on the terrace of the W Hotel Austin. The modern hotel venue lent itself to the New York-inspired celebration, with chic Austin-influenced touches designed by Pearl Events. We love that the newlyweds took over the DJ booth during their reception, and we can’t get enough of the resulting captures by Studio Uma!

The Couple:

Emily and David

The Wedding:

W Hotel Austin, Austin, Texas

The Inspiration:

New York meets Austin, chic, luxe, elegant, but understated and modern. I love sparkle and shine, but wanted to balance it with neutral tones, so that’s what we did!

Handmade South African Wedding

September 2, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Marize and Jacques South African wedding wouldn’t have been complete — literally! — without the love and talents of their friends and family. The couple decided a wedding would best represent their relationship if it was carefully crafted by the people who helped make them the couple they are today. The intimate and handmade celebration was brilliantly captured by Orpen Film Co., who captured the breathtaking landscape of Cape Town and the incredible love shared by Marize and Jacques.

The Couple:

Marize and Jacques

The Wedding:

Maison Estate, Cape Town, South Africa

The Inspiration:

Being a designer myself and extremely detail orientated, I knew it will be an interesting task at hand to plan my own wedding. One of the first things I wanted was for our wedding day to be a reflection of us, and not just me. I think it is funny that people walk away from a wedding day saying “The wedding was so “insert bride’s name” if the whole day is actually about two people. So Jacques and I sat down over a coffee and decided what is important for us, which was: the food (since that is pretty much what our lives revolve around ), involving the talents of our friends and family, and to make choices that reflect our values and our journey together. The whole journey ended up being much more about letting our hearts dictate the day than a beautiful aesthetic.

I never had a dream dress in mind, but I knew I wanted it to be simple and comfortable and started joking about wearing a t-shirt and a skirt — and that is exactly what I ended wearing. A wide skirt, a t-shirt made of antique french linen dishtowels and simple sandles worth $10. I loved it. The rest of our wedding I would describe as a simple feast with little touches of delight that had a special meaning to us, but most of all — there was a theme woven around what was happening in the hearts of many people that day.

The Moments:

They always say that a wedding day goes by so quickly – and it does. Having a quite moment after walking down the isle, rarely happens and I wish there were many moments I could freeze in time and embrace. While the sun were setting we sneaked away for a few minutes with our photographer and videographers, who are also some of our best friends, to have some fun in the last minutes of the sun. On our way back to the venue, we were driving down a gravel road, dust dancing in big clouds behind us and the sunset painting all shades of pastel pink. We looked in the rear view mirror in silence and with thankful hearts, we embraced our first moment being silently present in the now-and-forever.

The Wedding Team:

Videography – Orpen Film Co.
Ceremony Venue – Kylemore Church
Reception Venue – Maison Estate
Live Music – Gerald Clark
Hair & Makeup Artist – Nadia Professional Hair & Makeup
Wedding Dress – Stefania Morland
Rings – Dear Rae
