November 10, 2016 | Junebug Weddings

For as long as they can remember, Rosalyn and Nate have always loved Yosemite’s naturally epic mountains and scenic vibes. When this adventurous couple decided on a relaxed, outdoorsy, “take your shoes off” wedding affair, they immediately selected Yosemite Bug Rustic Mountain Resort as their venue! Along with the help of their family and friends, Rosalyn and Nate decorated the venue with a ceremony arch made of ladders, Kraft paper table cloths, and dozens of dreamcatchers handmade by Rosalyn’s maid of honor. We think the bride’s vintage-inspired boho gown from BHLDN perfectly complements her wedding’s florals and DIY décor! Photographer From The Daisies captured the couple’s day with a special warmth and sense of adventure.

The Couple:

Rosalyn and Nate

The Wedding:

Yosemite Bug Rustic Mountain Resort, Midpines, California

Nate grew up right outside Yosemite National Park. We wanted to get married near the park because it is such a special place for us. We also wanted a venue where everyone could stay, have a live band and had a boho, relaxed take your shoes off kind of vibe, so we choose Yosemite Bug Rustic Mountain Resort. They were so amazing every step of the way and I am so incredibly glad we picked this venue.

Our flowers were more perfect than I can ever imagined, and the flower crowns made my bridesmaids look like flower fairies.

I wore a dress from BHLDN. It was the 4th dress I tried on, the only store I went to and it was perfect! As soon as I saw BHLDN I knew their boho look was exactly what I wanted.

We got old antique ladders to build an altar and my maid of honor made a large dream catcher to hang from it.

It truly was one of the most perfect days of our lives. Nate‘s mom wrote us are own song to walk down the aisle to. Later, my mom and Nate‘s mom performed a surprise song they wrote together instead of a speech that had us laughing and smiling for days. Having one of are very favorite bands and an epic dance party with all our family and friends!

Nate‘s kindergarten teacher performed our ceremony and it felt like it was so personal and really just for us.

Our photographer was amazing and I knew she would be! We became friends after she did my engagement shoot and we got stuck in her car in the snow for 5 hours waiting for a tow truck- -after this experience that turned into a super fun hang out sesh I knew I wanted her as my photographer! She is so sweet and professional and has the exact look I wanted.

My mother in law collected unique cake plates from garage sales for our cupcakes and my maid of honor made handmade dream catchers for our escort cards. It was boho, whimsical, relaxed and fun!

Since I grew up making fairy houses with rose petals with my best friend, I wanted flowers everywhere so it felt magical and beautiful.

Our favors were mixed CD’s with will all our love songs! It included punk, blue grass, folk….everything! Music is how Nate and I came together. He used to make me mix CD’s when we first started dating. We had the cases printed on Etsy. Everyone loved them for their road trips back home!

Kevin and Royce fully embraced their modern minimalist styles for their engagement shoot! The couple donned muted pastel hues, cozy knits, and sophisticated patterns in their three very stylish looks. We love how Kevin and Royce wove in details like an impromptu Pokémon card game and a tea party surrounded by cookbooks and sheet music to convey their personal quirks! Loren Weddings captured Kevin and Royce’s minimalist engagement session with a lovely attention to detail and natural light.

This Backyard Fiesta Wedding Took Notes From Frida Kahlo’s Style

this-backyard-fiesta-wedding-took-notes-from-frida-kahlos-style-32

Haley and Jose’s backyard fiesta wedding takes the cake as the most colorful wedding we’ve seen! Choosing to draw inspiration from Frida Kahlo and traditional fiestas, the couple incorporated fun Mexican details like Mariachi bands, Folklorico dancers, and rainbow floral décor everywhere. Haley took her Frida Kahlo inspired look a step further with a gorgeous flower crown made of protea, daisies, and chrysanthemums. We love the vibrancy that Hinterland Stills captured in Haley and Jose’s wedding, including the couple’s sunset photo shoot with elotes!

The Couple:

Haley and Jose

The Wedding:

Private Residence, Chicago, Illinois

Our main goal was for everyone to have fun. We wanted everyone to join us in celebrating in our backyard with the best fiesta of the year! Jose and I wanted a laid-back wedding where everyone felt comfortable to eat and drink as much as they wanted, and danced like a crazy person until the end of the night.

Jose and I were engaged since 2013. We majorly took our time in planning the wedding, and I’m so glad we did! We ended up purchasing a home together this past fall, and it has the most beautiful, huge backyard…perfect for a wedding! It only made sense to have it in our new backyard.

this-backyard-fiesta-wedding-took-notes-from-frida-kahlos-style-13

We both agree that the first look was the most memorable. We met under three big pine trees in our backyard (the same place we had the ceremony), and it felt so great to be in his arms. He was beyond handsome. His eyes sparkled, and I am sure mine did too. I can’t even explain in words what it felt like to stare back at my soon to be husband. It was truly awesome.

this-backyard-fiesta-wedding-took-notes-from-frida-kahlos-style-19

My whole style inspiration was Frida Kahlo. She is a beauty, and I have admired her look (especially her floral crown) for forever!

this-backyard-fiesta-wedding-took-notes-from-frida-kahlos-style-4

We did not really have any set wedding colors. Whenever someone asked me, I would always say rainbow, and I would most likely get a jaw drop. But really, it was rainbow– truly any bright color made the cut. A fiesta should not be limited to just a couple colors. It ruins the fun of things. The more color the better in our books.

this-backyard-fiesta-wedding-took-notes-from-frida-kahlos-style-5

this-backyard-fiesta-wedding-took-notes-from-frida-kahlos-style-22

Instead of a unity candle, we had a unity planting. Jose and I chose a tree to eventually plant in our backyard. We each poured a cup of dirt into the big pot, and my mom and my sister-in-law then sprinkled water in the pot to bless the tying of two families. This was very special to Jose and I.

Looking back on our wedding day, I can truly say that everything was picture perfect, and I never thought I would say that. It was amazing how all of the small details came together.

Great family friends of ours started a salsa business called Culturally Confused. They made special small jars of their salsa for us, and we have customized stickers placed on the lids. We chose salsa since it went perfectly with the fiesta theme… and who doesn’t like salsa?!

One of my favorite moments of the night were the late night churros. They were served mid-way through the dancing.
