This Mt. Hood Elopement Has a Deliciously Beautiful Wine Color Palette

October 7, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

After being together for nine years, Alli and Mike wanted their Mt. Hood elopement to feel intimate and personal without losing sight of the meaning behind their commitment. Their easy-going nuptials took place in an Airbnb on the zigzag river deep in the national forest’s mountains. The moody and romantic color palette was inspired by the blush underlay of Alli’s BHLDN wedding gown and shades of wine – merlot, cabernet, and rosé. Adorable French bulldog, Tank, matched the groom’s blush pocket square with his tiny bowtie. Stylist Manda from SueBlue Events made the copper teepee-shaped arbor, draped in blush florals, added tiny fresh flowers to the bride’s flowy half-up do, and created the ultimate ‘elopement picnic’ – an elegant charcuterie feast on a spread of pale-pink rugs, throws and pillows. Karra Leigh Photography captured all of the elegant romance and refined details that makes this private elopement so special.

Alli and Mike

The Wedding:

Mt. Hood National Forest, Welches, Oregon

We valued having an easy-going elopement. We wanted to focus on each other and not lose sight of what a wedding day and our commitment to each other means.

Not having a strict agenda and being unplugged was pretty special. We woke up with no alarms, made breakfast together and ate outside while listening to the river rush by.

Our wedding colors were different shades of wine- merlot, cabs, and rose. The color pallate was based on my dress. My dress had a layer of blush underneath and Mike and our french bulldog Tank had a matching blush pocket sqaure and bow tie.

Everything felt so personal because it was so intimate. For dinner we had a beautiful spread of charcuterie which is our favorite! We also shotgunned Coors original under our arch. We met our sophmore year in college and everywhere we have lived Connecticut, Boston, Los Angeles and Bend we are known to shotgun beers with our friends. Shotgunning was a good reminder that this intimate moment could be full of fun and laughter.

We wanted everything to feel very natural and organic to us. Our location was a beautiful airbnb on the zigzag river in Rhodedendron, OR. We wanted to be secluded in the woods in one of our favorite areas. I let my natural wavy hair flow and Manda, our stylist, added some flowers to my pulled back hair. I did my own makeup and Mike got ready in thirty minutes. We put on Tanks bow tie and we were good to go!

Sushi Lovers – This Modern Minneapolis Wedding Inspiration is For You

October 6, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

Diana Albrecht Photography included as many new and emerging modern Minneapolis wedding vendors as possible to create this industrial-bohemian styled shoot with a unique sushi bar for a sophisticated and quirky vibe. Gohan Sushi embraced the spirit and tradition of Japanese cuisine with a mid-western twist, creating thoughtful and fresh hand rolls at the elegant bar. Maven Events curated the venue and floral design, injecting a few pops of bright color and intricate design into the neutral color palette. We love the lavish use of space in this styled shoot: from the fabulously oversized hanging fern installation to the luxe-bohemian macramé backdrop from Oh Hello Textiles.

Low-Key Glam Destination Wedding in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico

October 6, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

With family split between the east and west coast, Tina and Ryan decided a destination wedding in Old San Juan was the perfect middle ground for their vibrant, tropical celebration with an old world feel. Full of bright colors and character, the Puerto Rican city created a beautiful backdrop with a fun and playful vibe. Neon pink, poppy red, and vivid teal popped against the bride’s funky bouquet by Lorraine’s Flowers. We love how the couple spent the hours before the ceremony on a walking tour with Eager Hearts Photography, who captured them celebrating with locals while enjoying pina coladas and hand rolled cigars.

The Couple:

Tina and Ryan

The Wedding:

Hotel El Convento, Old San Juan, Puerto Rico

Everything I wore came from someone important and dear to me. One of my oldest friends from college very generously custom-made my dress. I had described to her another dress I had seen a long time ago with gold sequining on top and a flowy cream skirt and she magically made it happen.

We live in New York, but most of my large family is in California and most of Ryan‘s large family is in Massachusetts. Since everyone was going to have to travel anyway, we figured we might as well make it a vacation. Puerto Rico in January ended up being a perfect fit.

Gold sequins on a wedding dress already felt like such a statement so I kept my accessories pretty simple. I wore a pair of diamond cluster earrings that were my mom’s first jewelry purchase for herself after she immigrated to the United States. I also wore a gold and jade ring, which was my late grandmother’s wedding ring.

We had a first look and then ended up spending the hours before the ceremony essentially going on a walking tour of Old San Juan while we took photos. Halfway through, we took a little break at an outdoor bar and had pina coladas together. A man making hand-rolled cigars at a nearby stand gifted us a couple cigars as a congratulations. It felt so surreal to be doing all that in a wedding dress.

Getting married in a Catholic church was very important to both our mothers. Lucky for us, there is a gorgeous cathedral in the middle of Old San Juan with a gorgeous old hotel across the street that happened to be perfect for a wedding reception.

From the beginning, we knew our wedding priorities: a short but meaningful ceremony, good food, good music, maximizing dancing time, and ensuring that our guests are comfortable and carefree. Keeping those things in mind definitely helped streamline the wedding planning panic. Everything else either got cut or just fell into the background.
