Breathtaking Florence Destination Wedding at Villa Gamberaia

May 20, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

Upscale rustic charm and chic style made Kara and Andrew’s destination wedding at Villa Gamberaia one to remember. The couple returned to Florence for a multiple-day celebration with their guests that included walks around the romantic streets of Florence and concluded with their elegant wedding at the villa. VB Events set up the Kara and Andrew’s ceremony in the long, stone-enclosed courtyard and brought nature indoors for their ballroom reception that featured simple greenery, pillar candles, and wood accents, all of which created that quintessential rustic Italian feel. As if the stunning sunset photos and intimate moments on their wedding day weren’t enough, the couple and their photographer Stefano Santucci went into the heart of Florence for post-wedding photos near the Duomo and on the bridges that showed off Kara’s stunning Berta gown and the groom’s classic Yves Saint Laurent suit against the iconic backdrop of Italian architecture.

The decision to have a destination wedding was an easy one. Kara had studied abroad in Florence, Italy and we have traveled to the area several times as a couple and couldn’t think of a better place to get married! It was important to us to find a venue that would be romantic, yet not too inconvenient for our guests since they were already traveling halfway around the world for the event, so proximity to an airport was key. When we first saw photographs of our venue, Villa Gamberaia, we were sold. We booked the venue sight unseen, but then took a trip to meet our planners, vendors, and see the venue for ourselves. Because the venue was full of such rich history, world famous gardens, and sweeping views of Florence and the Tuscan hillside, we knew we’d made the right choice.

Since we didn’t do a “first look,” our favorite moment was, without a doubt, the door opening for Kara to walk out of the villa with her dad and Andrew smiling and beaming at the altar surrounded by our closest family and friends. We will never forget the overwhelming amount of love we felt in the air around us!

Our best advice is, before you start your planning, figure out what are the top most important things to you both. For us, it was the venue, food, photos, and video. It is easy to get caught up in the millions of things you have to do, so make these most important things are your priority. Don’t forget your personal touches, as well! Get all your big vendors locked down early and then have fun being creative with details in the months leading up to your big day. And as cliche as it sounds, be present on your wedding day. Yes, things will go wrong, but do your best to let them go and enjoy your day with your loved ones. It truly was the most special day of our lives!

Since our guests were traveling a great distance for the wedding, we organized several events in the days leading up to the wedding. We did a historic walking tour around Florence, a boat tour down the famous Arno River, and a welcome aperitif for all wedding guests the evening before the wedding day as a token of our appreciation.

Italian food is by far our favorite cuisine and, since we got married in the heart of Tuscany, we made sure our wedding guests did not go hungry! Our appetizers included truffle arancini, fried sage, bruschetta, and bacon wrapped dates. Our dinner consisted of two pasta courses and a third course of either Florentine steak, lemon seabass, or eggplant parmesan. The cake was an ivory tiered chocolate cake with almond brittle filling. The dessert highlight was the popular gelato cart where guests could select pistachio, chocolate chip, or raspberry gelato to enjoy on the dance floor!

Spanish Style San Clemente Wedding at Casa Romantica

May 19, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

Brianna and Charlie brought all the tropical boho vibes to Casa Romantica, and we simply can’t get enough! The Spanish style venue was the perfect backdrop for the chic yet laid-back design that Weddings by Cortney Helaine created, which featured tropical greenery and white roses arranged by Little Hill Floral Designs and a DIY macrame sweetheart table backdrop that dreams are made of. To add that classic wedding feel, the couple dressed to the nines, with Brianna rocking a trumpet-silhouette lace Ines Di Santo gown and loose curls and Charlie wearing a classic suit and bowtie. Between the sunset ceremony looking over the ocean and the dreamy atmosphere of the courtyard reception, this wedding was romantic to its core and photographer Chase Sevey captured it all beautifully.

The Couple:

Brianna and Charlie

The Wedding:

Casa Romantica, San Clemente, California

When we began planning, we knew we wanted a relaxed vibe that still held the traditional wedding elements. I’ve always loved Spanish style homes, the artsy beach town of San Clemente, and knew we wanted lots of plants and greenery. When we looked at the venue and the boutique hotels within walking distance, we instantly knew this was our venue. We used lots of palms and ferns mixed with white roses, neutral bridesmaid dresses, navy tuxes, peacock rattan chairs, and the 10′ hanging macrame.

Our first look was the most memorable part of the day. We went back and forth if we wanted to do a first look or save the moment for the aisle, but due to the time change and lighting purposes, we decided to do the first look. It surprised me how special the moment was and we loved seeing each other alone for a private moment before going into the ceremony with all eyes on us.

Classic Meets Boho in This Chic El Paso Wedding

May 19, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

Understated, sophisticated, bohemian, and classic are all the words we’d use to describe Jessica and Alex’s El Paso wedding! This dynamic couple paid homage to their Mexican culture by using a rainbow of jewel tones, displaying handmade Spanish and English table numbers, and serving Mexican hot chocolate in traditional mugs at the end of the reception. The bride also channeled ’40s Mexican cinema actress style with a chic Rosá Clara ballgown for the ceremony — and then let loose with a sparkly BHLDN dress for the reception. Although the couple’s styles differ, Fawn Events helped them tie them all together into a cohesive look that Jordy B Photo captured in brilliant detail. We are especially smitten with their personal touches of a cigar bar, primping station for the photo booth, and custom neon quote created by Big Media Signs.

The Wedding:

The Church of St. Clement and Private Residence, El Paso, Texas

I wanted to look classic and natural, and most of all, like me. My inspiration was drawn from classic Mexican cinema actresses in the ’40s. The look was chic and effortless. My wedding dress was everything I never knew I wanted! I swore I would never wear a ball gown, but once I slipped into my dress it was over. It was simple, not fussy, and had pockets.

We gave out a few wedding favors. Each place card was handmade out of hand pressed paper with gold foil and hand painted calligraphy. We also served Mexican Hot chocolate towards the end of the night in authentic Mexican clay mugs called jarritos. We wanted to make sure we honored our heritage with touches throughout.

My mom DIYed each table using Spanish clay tiles. She has the best handwriting so she wrote each number in English and Spanish.
