Positively Mesmerizing Blush and Gold Kaua’i Destination Wedding at Hanalei Bay

July 16, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

Selena and Jacob’s Kaua’i destination wedding had so many sentimental details that will make your heart sing! From their seating chart being inspired by the places they had traveled, to ultimately exchanging vows where they became engaged, it was an extra special day planned by Opihi Love. In her Katie May Bridal wedding dress, Selena wore a dainty flower crown designed by Bella Bloom that tied her romantic bridal style together perfectly. These two celebrated their new status as husband and wife under the stars and by the beach where photographer Logan Cole and videographer Heart Visuals captured the dreamiest couple portraits of Selena and Jacob.

Picking a location that was meaningful to us was the most important. We tossed around a lot of different locations – California, France, The Netherlands – we even considered a small lake town in Slovenia we fell in love with right after getting engaged! In the end, we picked Kauai because it held the most meaning and made sense for our family and friends.

Our first look was the most memorable moment of the day. We both are so happy we planned to have one prior to the ceremony – it took all our nerves away.

Since it was a destination wedding, we gave out favors the day before the wedding for the weekend. The bags included artisan-made beach towels, candles, and chocolate, put together with help from Jacob‘s sister who runs a non-profit company.

Processional – Ends of the Earth – Lord Huron
Recessional – You and I – Ingrid Michaelson
First Dance – La Vie en Rose – Louis Armstrong

For all the places that we’ve traveled to together and that had meaning for us, we incorporated them into the wedding day. For instance – our seating cards were destinations, not numbers. Guests were seated at the Prague table, which was where Jacob and I first said ‘I love you’ to each other. Or the Amsterdam table, our favorite city and where we had moved abroad together the year before.

Our wedding colors were blush and gold. Since I tend to gravitate towards those colors the most in general, I just went with them. Lucky for me Jacob is colorblind and couldn’t care less…match made in heaven!

Since our wedding was outside and it’s quite hot in Kauai, I knew I wanted something backless. I fell in love with my dress from a photo on Pinterest, and when I arrived at the fitting I knew even before trying it on that I had to wear it. The lace is beautiful and subtle, and the fit was perfect. I knew Jacob would love it.

Our favorite photo was one where we’re both facing out towards the river and mountains. It was taken right after the ceremony. It was such a calm moment for the two of us. Because of the recent flood in Kauai that spot is no longer there, so it feels even more special.

With both our photographer and videographer we felt so at ease. It’s easy for the day to fly by, and anytime we stepped away to take photos the rest of the world melted away for a bit.

This Sand Rock Farm Wedding was Filled with Elegant Whimsy

July 15, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

Laura and Alex’s wedding at Sand Rock Farm began with a ceremony beneath giant redwoods and ended with a silent disco, so we think it’s safe to say this was one epic celebration! The couple chose the California location as a nod to their dating years and tasked E Events Co. with helping them bring their whimsical, natural, and elegant vibes together into one beautifully designed event. With a little sparkle, boho rugs and lanterns, handmade signage, and a mixture of floral bouquets and table runners made of moss and succulents from Amanda Connors Designs in Bloom, they nailed their one-of-a-kind vision! Because of the location of the venue in the California hills, the couple planned an epic silent dance party and a surprise second line that paid tribute to the bride’s Louisiana roots and allowed their guests to dance to their heart desire. Kristen Soileau Portraits totally captured the whimsical elegance and laid-back fun of this California wedding!

Laura and Alex

The Wedding:

Sand Rock Farm, Santa Cruz, California

We really wanted to make sure that our wedding not only felt like us but that our guests knew just how important they were to us! Every detail was special and had some impact on the weekend. We personalized our guestbook to have their photos in it, personalized messages on our wedding favors, and handmade our invitations, envelopes and save the date. Everywhere our guests went at the venue, we wanted them to know that we were thinking about them and we were so thankful they were there to share our day.

We did a lot of DIY throughout our wedding, including most of the design, the calligraphy on the menus, chalkboards, place cards, photo booth sign, and envelopes. Alex designed the reserved signs, the invites, save the dates, and the napkins. He even built the arch with one of our groomsmen. We bought the ceremony rug on our engagement trip to Morocco!

Our ceremony was definitely the most memorable part of the entire #sparklebashwedding! I loved walking down the aisle to see Alex waiting for me. He was crying, I was crying…everyone was crying! The entire ceremony was so personal. One of our best friends officiated the wedding and it was so special because not only did we write our own vows, but his ceremony was filled with hilarious stories of our relationship that made the entire ceremony so unique to us.

My favorite thing to hear from our guests was that the wedding was so us. At the beginning of planning our wedding, we sat down and privately listed out our top 5 adjectives that we wanted to describe the wedding, compared them, and then combined the list into the top 6. Ours were laissez-faire, natural, whimsical, considered, low-key sparkly, and laughter-filled dance party.

Neither of us is from California (Alex from Pennsylvania, Laura from Louisiana, but dated in California), so we wanted to make sure it felt like a perfect blend of our relationship, our strengths (he’s a designer and I’m an event producer), and who we are as people and highlight where we are from! There’s a whole lot of Alex + Laura vibes (the 6 adjectives above), a splash of California, and a sprinkle of Louisiana.

We love a good dance party. Our friends love a good dance party. The hills love a good dance party until it’s too loud. And our venue? Nestled in the valley of Santa Cruz Hills. So our solution? A surprise silent disco! Watching the videos afterward of our friends and family dancing so hard to music you can’t hear unless you have headphones on is hilarious!

Another surprise we had for our guests, was ending the evening with a New Orleans tradition and second lined our way out of the barn with our headphones on and our custom second line umbrellas.

You’re Going to Want to Recreate Every Inch of This DIY Family Farm Wedding in Pennsylvania

July 15, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

The handmade details, the vintage-meets-bohemian vibe, and the cozy ceremony location of Keziah and Kaleb’s family farm wedding are giving us all the warm fuzzies! With the help of family and friends, this couple was able to make every detail of their wedding personal and unique. But, we must give a shoutout to the groom who went above and beyond in not only making the wooden ceremony arbor and all the tables for the reception but in excavating and building up the ceremony spot! The couple used antique furniture, vintage family place settings and table decor, and tons of eucalyptus to create a laid-back affair had an air of elegance and romance. Lucky for us, trinjensen photography was on hand to capture every magical moment of this handmade, at-home wedding!

The Couple:

Keziah and Kaleb

The Wedding:

Private Farm, Bainbridge, Pennsylvania

We got married in an old sand quarry on my parents’ property with a long path that led back to it. We loved walking on that path through the woods together as a newly married couple and being greeted by our bridal party and guests.

Fall is such a beautiful time of year. We could not choose just one of the fall colors, so we chose all of them. As well as florals and lots of eucalypti to match the boho vibe.

We did a lot of DIY for our wedding, which made it more personable and really made us appreciate the help from friends and family. It truly was God’s blessing that we were able to pull off all of the DIY projects. Kaleb rented a mini excavator and built a rock wall with steps in the quarry for the ceremony. He planted grass and built steps that came down in from the top of the quarry. He also made the arbor by cutting branches and tying them together to make a tiny house.
