Between the Sequin Gown, String Lights, and Sunlight, this Intimate Normandy Wedding Positively Glowed

May 17, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Beth and Marcus’ Normandy wedding was the garden party of our wildest dreams! The couple held their intimate celebration at a cozy French Airbnb, which allowed them to set up a ceremony space nestled among the trees and organize a picnic-style reception amid the lush, overgrown gardens. Their decor centered around twinkle lights, dream catchers, boho rugs and pillows, and simple garlands of eucalyptus, and the result was truly captivating. The bride wore a stunning sequin Needle & Thread gown that sparkled from every angle and the groom looked dashing in an emerald ASOS suit that was the perfect combination of modern and timeless. Photographers Eastlyn & Joshua truly captured the dream-like vibes of this Normandy wedding, and even took us along on the couple’s romantic day-after adventure at the Cliffs of Etretat!

The Wedding:

Airbnb, Normandy, France

There are so many memories that stand out from the day, but writing letters to each other and then reading them whilst I was in the bath is the clearest one. Eastlyn & Joshua, our photographers, advised us to find the time in the day before the ceremony to take in the moment. Clasping each other’s hands and whispering together in the silence felt like we were able to pause. Eastlyn clicked away quietly by the door, our friends were buzzing around outside setting things up but, just for that moment, we were fully in the moment, focused on only each other with no distractions.

It was important to us that we created a meaningful and intimate experience that would allow us to be fully present with our loved ones, and with each other. For us, this meant only inviting our closest friends and family members and enlisting them to help put the day together with us. Getting everyone involved and doing the work ourselves meant that the wedding took on a sense of community and left us with treasured memories, like picking flowers with my bridesmaids, that we wouldn’t otherwise have had. It also meant that every detail of the day was put together by us or our loved ones, making it so much more special to us.

We knew we wanted our day to be relaxed, and after making that decision it started to take on a dreamy, childlike garden picnic vibe by itself. With a bit of inspiration from Pinterest, we decided to make low tables so that we could sit on rugs and a vegan buffet of salads and other cold snacks and desserts made by my family the day before. The bridesmaids and groomsmen picked their own dresses and I even went barefoot for the day.

We didn’t give favours in the typical sense, because I always see them being wasted and left behind at weddings, and we wanted to tell our guests how much they meant to us in a way that a personalized glass or seed bag couldn’t. So we hand wrote each individual guest a letter instead, telling them what an impact they’ve had in our lives, and thanking them for being there.

Processional – “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley (sung by my bridesmaid, Poppy)
Recessional – “Here Comes The Sun” by The Beatles
First Dance – “Wild Love” by James Bay

Before our wedding we had so many people trying to give us their opinions on what we should and shouldn’t do (some more forcefully than others) and it can get so overwhelming trying to please everybody that you start to forget that it’s your day. It’s about you and your partner celebrating your love and declaring your commitment to each other. Whatever you choose to do, not everyone will think it’s beautiful. But I think everyone would agree that the most beautiful weddings are the ones with a happy, present couple.

This Magical Forest Wedding at Gold Mountain Golf Club was Filled with Moody Elegance

May 16, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Haley and Andrew’s forest wedding at Gold Mountain Golf Club was as whimsical and as naturally elegant as could be! Their moody color palette was a combination of forest-inspired hues with pops of maroon for a hint of color that added elegance without overwhelming the natural feel. For her bridal look, Haley channeled forest fairy vibes with a delicate lace gown and handmade gold leaf crown created by Crown Me and carried that same vibe into the bridesmaids’ style with crushed velvet dresses. Kylie Morgan Photography nailed it in capturing every moment of this dreamy forest wedding, including one of the best “first looks” we’ve ever seen!

Haley and Andrew

The Wedding:

Gold Mountain Golf Club, Bremerton, Washington

The most important thing to us was keeping it true to who we are! We had tacos, so much dancing, and lots of laughter. We wanted it to feel like a big dinner party with all of our closest friends, and we feel like we achieved that by planning it around our values!

The prank I planning on the day of the wedding was meant to lighten the mood and keep Andrew laughing throughout the day. I pretended I wanted to do a first look with him, and instead had his best friend dress up in a wedding gown. The photos are priceless!

Andrew and I wrote our own vows, and we had our wedding party pray over us. I had my mom walk me down the aisle as well, and that was so special to me. I loved doing things that weren’t coming to really make the wedding feel true to who we are. So many moments felt so unique and special to who we were, and I loved every minute of it!

Our first dance in the forest was the most memorable part of the day! We decided to have our first dance private, and it was the most special moment. We didn’t have to worry about anyone watching, and we got to have a beautiful moment just the two of us in the woods where our ceremony was. It felt like a dream.

We wanted the forest to be the main inspiration for the vibe, and we chose things from there that just added to it. I love dark, moody colors so we added pops of maroon and we love how it all tied together!

Just remember, at the end of the day, your wedding day truly is about doing the things that mean a lot to you. There were a lot of opinions we had to politely decline because this wedding should make you feel so special. And it’s okay to do things out of the ordinary!

With No Bride, These Stylish Grooms Invited Their Guests to Wear White to Their Four Seasons Resort Orlando Wedding

May 15, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Inspired by the all-white party in the movie White Chicks — yes, you read that correctly — Nick and Grant’s all-white Four Seasons Resort Orlando wedding was visually stunning! Pixies & Petals helped bring the couple’s vision to life, using all-white florals and linens alongside accents of greenery and natural textures, to create a look that was simultaneously elegant and understated. The grooms both wore navy blue suits from Suit Supply, which looked striking against their guests’ all-white attire. And, in keeping with the non-traditional feel of the day, they even included their fur babies in the ceremony! We can’t say enough about this beautiful wedding and these fantastic photos captured by Matthew Schueller Photography!

Nick and Grant

The Wedding:

Four Seasons Resort Orlando, Florida

What was most important when planning our wedding was keeping the ceremony and reception space as simple as possible. The venue itself is so beautiful that we didn’t want to overdo it. For us, we wanted our wedding to embody the idea of less is more. We wanted our guests to feel like they were in a fairytale, and we think we did just that.

With our wedding already being non-traditional in every way, we were able to personalize our wedding to fit exactly what we wanted. We had our father walk each of our two dogs down the aisle while we each separately walked down the aisle with our mothers. This allowed us to involve every family member — even the ones with paws and a tail! We also had Grant‘s 19-year-old sister officiate the wedding, with our wedding being the first she had ever attended. She was amazing!

Getting married to the love of your life is not about all the money you’ve spent or the plans that you made. It is about creating an unbreakable bond that will last a lifetime in front of the people you love. Remember that your special day is about that person you chose to walk down the aisle with. Whether you have to swim through a river of rain or skip through the sunshine, remember to control what you can control and everything will be just fine.

The most memorable part of the day was when we sat down for dinner. That was our first opportunity to take a step back and appreciate all of our hard work and time spent planning our big day. As we sat there, we couldn’t help but smile and giggle at one another as we witnessed something so incredibly special, it makes us happy just thinking about it. We overlooked a beautiful terrace filled with love, laughter, and most importantly family. Our smaller separate families magically turned into one big family and upon that realization, we knew that our 5 years of ups and downs, twists and turns were all worth it in the end!
