Timeless Bosch Hoek Wedding in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal Midlands

November 22, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Talk about a romantic affair! We’re smitten with Victoria and Marc’s timeless wedding at Bosch Hoek in South Africa’s KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. The couple hired planning rockstars from Oh Happy Day to help them create the day of their dreams complete with decor from The Wedding Table and House of Hudson. Victoria wanted her bridal look to resemble her daily look of “glowy, bronzed, and fresh.” Her clean, modern White Lilly Bridal dress and Jimmy Choo shoes were the perfect mix to pull off the essence of everyday simplicity! Get ready to fall in love with every photo Vanilla Photography captured of this sweet day at Bosh Hoek.

The Couple:

Victoria & Marc

The Wedding:

Bosch Hoek, South Africa

I can honestly say I had the ‘dream team’ in terms of vendors. They have all worked together countless times so really just made the day so seamless. Every single one of them were extremely professional and worked their magic to perfection. I really felt very lucky to have the team that I did.

My dress was clean and modern and I wanted to make up to resemble the usual look I go for on a daily basis; glowy, bronzed and fresh. My make up artist had her work cut out as she got quite the comprehensive brief, but she nailed it. Accessories wise – I kept this minimal too with pearl drop earrings only. My shoes were nude Jimmy Choo heels.

Wedding planning advice from the bride: I loved the planning process and loved being involved it it from start to finish. A big factor in enjoying this process was having the planning team I had (Oh Happy Day). They took any unnecessary stress off me and thought of things I could never have done on my own. I think it’s important to decide what is important to you as a couple from the get-go, and stick to prioritizing those things throughout.

I can honestly say that every element of the day was so incredibly memorable for us; from walking down the aisle and greeting our guests at canapes to the photo shoot (which was such a fun time with our bridal party and time alone as a couple) and speeches and the celebration that followed. You will never feel that sheer amount of happiness and love in one day and being surrounded by everyone we loved was just unforgettable.

Bosch Hoek is a place I have grown up visiting and is close to my hometown. I knew I didn’t want a traditional wedding venue and wanted to be able to build our day from scratch. Bosch Hoek allowed for this and their beautiful surroundings and accommodation made it feel like the homely wedding we wanted.

The theme was classic, timeless, modern and fresh and we steered clear of anything too rustic, vintage or cluttered. We chose to personalize the day with my favorite scents from Jo Malone. We chose a scent combination and used candles down all the tables and in the bathrooms. Scent is so important to me and I loved the special touch this added, and my guests loved it too.

This WithinSodo Wedding Inspiration Took Cues From Ireland’s Cliffs of Moher

November 21, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

If you’ve had your sights set on an Irish “I do” but aren’t able to hop across the pond for your big day, this WithinSodo wedding inspiration is full of influence from the Cliffs of Moher! The Big Fake Wedding Seattle brought the earthy vibes and some epic beauty to WithinSodo thanks to a team of Seattle’s best wedding professionals.

Seattle-based florists and event designers Pump Up Party, K Frances Flowers & Events, For the Good Events, Jessica Van-Campbell Flowers, and Paeonia Pines all contributed to the gorgeous styling in shades of green, amber, and ivory, pulling inspiration from the Irish cliffs. We love the subtle nod to the striking views of the Atlantic with blue bridesmaids dresses from AZAZIE and the bride’s braided hairstyle by Elizabeth White Artistry is fit for a mermaid! The true pièce de résistance, however, is the unique three-tiered cake by Rue Cler Seattle that mimics the shape of the ocean crashing along the edge of the cliffs. Pump Up Party really took the dessert backdrop to the next level with an unforgettable balloon installation! Every carefully curated detail was captured in style by Seattle videographers Best Made Videos and photographers Woven LegaciesWorks by Sarah Jane Photography, and Wild Grass Photography.

Not familiar with Big Fake Wedding? This bridal show alternative brings together wedding vendors in cities across the country to throw a big, fake wedding to show off their skills – and you’re invited! Romantic New England Forest Wedding at The Barn on Walnut Hill

November 21, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Lindsey and Michael’s wedding at The Barn on Walnut Hill was filled with DIY touches, romance, and all the non-traditional boho vibes! Get ready to fall for the way this couple organized their day, starting with pre-ceremony cocktails and freely flowing from speeches to treats and The Roaming Speakeasy, a horsebox bar that’s totally adorable. Lindsey looked stunning in a champagne colored Alexandra Grecco dress was the most perfect choice for her free-spirited vibe, and we love how her groom went with a neutral linen Suit Supply suit. We can’t wait for you to see all of the macramé touches and every incredible photo Jamie Mercurio Photography captured of this inspiring day at The Barn on Walnut Hill.

The Couple:

Lindsey & Michael

The Wedding:

The Barn on Walnut Hill, Yarmouth, Maine

Our photographer and her team were amazing. We expressed to her that we wanted a non-traditional vibe for our photos, and her personal style was very much the reason we chose her to capture our day. She added her style to our photographs and we couldn’t be happier. She was such a real person, one that you would want as your friend, and we hope to see her again in Maine for a drink soon.

I didn’t want to be overly done up, and wanted a natural feel to my makeup with a full brow and loose, beachy curls pulled back, away from my face. I added a handmade vine piece to my hair for a little something special. I wasn’t a veil girl, so I had my seamstress construct me a veil cape that I attached to the back of my dress – it was perfect.

Our ceremony was personalized by our song selection, and handmade details – like the macrame piece that was strung across the arbor. At the ceremony entrance, we had taken pieces of wood to create arrows that detailed the journey of our love story – the place where we met, our first trip together, where we got engaged, to the day of our marriage. This carried forward the latitude & longitude detail that was on our save the date, and web site.

Lindsey wanted the 2 most important men her life before Michael to each have a part in the ceremony; her father walked her down the aisle, and her step-father met her at the end to officiate the ceremony.

After we kissed, when we were introduced as Mr. & Mrs Peattie for the first time to our closest family and friends, and the recessional song came on ‘Wouldn’t it Be Nice – Beach Boys’.

We wanted our wedding day to feel like us, regardless if that meant tossing some traditional aspects of a wedding. Our cocktail style vibe carried through from the pre-ceremony drink, through the end of the night, which is exactly how we envisioned the day to be. We wanted our guests to feel relaxed, to mingle with each other without interruption, and to eat and drink as they wished.

Our dinner came out in waves throughout the night, starting with hors d’oeuvres and steadily moving into heavier dishes, finishing the night with late night pizza and fries. We spread out the 3 speeches to transition into different parts of the night – began with a welcoming, the transitioned from cocktail hour with the maid of honor speech, and transitioned into our first dance after the best man’s speech. Our non-traditional vibe was absolutely perfect.
