Romantic New England Forest Wedding at The Barn on Walnut Hill

November 21, 2019 | brooke

Lindsey and Michael’s wedding at The Barn on Walnut Hill was filled with DIY touches, romance, and all the non-traditional boho vibes! Get ready to fall for the way this couple organized their day, starting with pre-ceremony cocktails and freely flowing from speeches to treats and The Roaming Speakeasy, a horsebox bar that’s totally adorable. Lindsey looked stunning in a champagne colored Alexandra Grecco dress was the most perfect choice for her free-spirited vibe, and we love how her groom went with a neutral linen Suit Supply suit. We can’t wait for you to see all of the macramé touches and every incredible photo Jamie Mercurio Photography captured of this inspiring day at The Barn on Walnut Hill.

The Couple:

Lindsey & Michael

The Wedding:

The Barn on Walnut Hill, Yarmouth, Maine

Our photographer and her team were amazing. We expressed to her that we wanted a non-traditional vibe for our photos, and her personal style was very much the reason we chose her to capture our day. She added her style to our photographs and we couldn’t be happier. She was such a real person, one that you would want as your friend, and we hope to see her again in Maine for a drink soon.

I didn’t want to be overly done up, and wanted a natural feel to my makeup with a full brow and loose, beachy curls pulled back, away from my face. I added a handmade vine piece to my hair for a little something special. I wasn’t a veil girl, so I had my seamstress construct me a veil cape that I attached to the back of my dress – it was perfect.

Our ceremony was personalized by our song selection, and handmade details – like the macrame piece that was strung across the arbor. At the ceremony entrance, we had taken pieces of wood to create arrows that detailed the journey of our love story – the place where we met, our first trip together, where we got engaged, to the day of our marriage. This carried forward the latitude & longitude detail that was on our save the date, and web site.

Lindsey wanted the 2 most important men her life before Michael to each have a part in the ceremony; her father walked her down the aisle, and her step-father met her at the end to officiate the ceremony.

After we kissed, when we were introduced as Mr. & Mrs Peattie for the first time to our closest family and friends, and the recessional song came on ‘Wouldn’t it Be Nice – Beach Boys’.

We wanted our wedding day to feel like us, regardless if that meant tossing some traditional aspects of a wedding. Our cocktail style vibe carried through from the pre-ceremony drink, through the end of the night, which is exactly how we envisioned the day to be. We wanted our guests to feel relaxed, to mingle with each other without interruption, and to eat and drink as they wished.

Our dinner came out in waves throughout the night, starting with hors d’oeuvres and steadily moving into heavier dishes, finishing the night with late night pizza and fries. We spread out the 3 speeches to transition into different parts of the night – began with a welcoming, the transitioned from cocktail hour with the maid of honor speech, and transitioned into our first dance after the best man’s speech. Our non-traditional vibe was absolutely perfect.
