Picturesque Niagara on the Lake Wedding at Gracewood Estates

October 17, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Anne Marie and James’ Gracewood Estates wedding has us feeling all of those dreamy, romantic feels! The couple wanted their day to be personal, picturesque, and joyous for all of their family and friends, so they decided to mix DIY (their table numbers, runners, and signage were all hand crafted) with a few key investments like whimsical florals with pastel accent colors by Mums Garden. Anne Marie’s style vision was to look simple and classic, so she went with a fitted Enzoani gown covered with a feminine Chantilly lace. We think she looked absolutely stunning! Scroll on for their sweet ceremony on the Gracewood Estates lawn, and some gorgeous golden hour portraits captured by the talented Ally + Nicholas Photography!

The Couple:

Anne Marie + James

The Wedding:

Gracewood Estates, Ontario, Canada

Wedding planning advice from the couple: Prep ahead of time! If you are doing any DYIs, prep and craft in advance and then relax and enjoy the week leading up to your big day. We were so glad that we took the week BEFORE our wedding off work to head to the cottage and relax. We wouldn’t have been able to do that if we didn’t do the small things in advance. It was so nice to just unwind and be in the present moment leading up to the biggest day of our lives.

The ceremony for us was the most memorable part of the day- the moment we became husband and wife. The walk up the aisle was a long one, and in that moment we only had eyes for each other. Time slowed down and sped up all in the same moment. We loved that our amazing officiant- Debbie Van Dyk encouraged us to pause and look out at all of our loving family and friends who had joined us to celebrate our big day.

We immediately fell in love with how picturesque Gracewood Estates was. It was important to us to have the full wedding- the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception- all the same venue so that our guests could unwind and not have to worry about travel. Although every component of our wedding day took place at Gracewood, each felt unique in that the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception took place in different areas of the property-the pear orchard, the front lawn of the estate and the cherry orchard. Each area offered so much character and charm. We love that the staff of Gracewood told us that we could essentially pick anywhere on the property to get married. It truly felt very personalized.

My mom (the mother of the bride) and I pressed flowers and placed them in acrylic for our table numbers and wedding signs. We also hand dyed cheesecloth as table runners for our reception. It was so much fun to craft!

Ally + Nicholas Photography are AMAZING. They put us at SUCH ease and gave us helpful direction in the most natural way possible. Not only are they fantastic photographers, but they are fantastic people. Ally helped bustle my dress, adjust my veil and provided makeup touches on the go. Their images of our day and the way that they captured the light completely blow us away. We love reliving our favorite day through their photos- such a treasure!

This Derbeyshire Wedding at The West Mill Shows Off a Modern Orange Color Palette

October 16, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

If you love fall color palettes, modern graphic design, and UK brewery vibes, get ready to fall head over heels for Kira and Gareth’s romantic wedding at The West Mill! We’re feeling all of the cozy, warehouse vibes from their ceremony inside the former industrial mill, which featured a jaw-dropping floral backdrop created by Nadia Di Tullio. The orange, rust, and tan colors added elegance and a touch of Autumn to the day, and the incredible stationary by Kira Allmark was a trendy addition to the historic location. Kira looked stunning in her Suzanne Neville gown and Lelet NY accessories, which proved to be a perfect fit to flow from the ceremony to playing Cornhole at the reception. From the couple’s first moments after their “I dos” to their fun confetti exit, Colin Ross Photography was there to capture every dreamy moment of this day at The West Mill!

The Couple:

Kira & Gareth

The Wedding:

The West Mill, Derbyshire, United Kingdom

The dress was from Suzanne Neville. It was minimal and classic, but had this amazing architectural pleating on the bodice. It felt amazing to wear and looked vintage, clean and timeless. That was the aim, to have something with lasting elegance. I chose Hollywood waves for my hair but I wanted to keep the accessories modern. The hairpiece is from Lelet NY, I loved the way it sat behind my ear and at times looked like an earpiece.

We chose the West Mill because it felt perfect for us. Something a bit different, and you can’t help but be blown away by how beautifully the mill has been restored. Get a venue with experienced staff and everything under one roof so there’s no need to worry about traveling between locations. This way, you get more time to spend with your guests. We wanted to create a fun and chilled out atmosphere for everyone to feel comfortable. Apparently it worked! I think the choice of venue really helped with that.

Kira walked down the aisle to John Legend’s “All of Me” which was beautifully played by our Pianist John Budding. Then after we were married we walked back down the aisle to Kira‘s Uncle playing “Irish Rover” by The Dubliners on his accordion (squeeze box) which was a nice nod to Kira‘s Irish family.

Working with Colin was great! We loved his relaxed style, and he made us feel really comfortable. We are so awkward in front of a camera so he had his work cut out! But he got some amazing shots of all our friends and family enjoying themselves. He also captured the whole day brilliantly, he loved the venue as much as us and he picked out some cool details to photograph.

I’m a designer, so I did a lot of research into the look of the day. I handmade the wedding signs and stationery including the guestbook, it was a labour of love! We spray painted lots of dried palms and placed them in various vases, they were an easy way to add color and structure. It was all about colors and texture. The centerpieces didn’t match, it was more about mood and composition that everything being identical. And as the venue already had its only style we felt the decor could be kept minimal. A lot of the objects used for the centre pieces came from our home.

For the flowers we wanted a contemporary feel and lots of Anthuriums! Our florist Nadia Di Tullio did an amazing job matching our color scheme and style of the wedding, she’s incredible!

Our table names were nicknames that Gareth uses for either himself or Kira, and were designed like a dictionary entry so the guests had an explanation. Such as ‘Little Gary’ – A name Gareth uses when referring to himself in the third person i.e, “Little Gary fancies a beer”. The others were local slang words used in Kira‘s hometown of Dudley. We also had a gin bar which was served out of a converted horse box.
