The Bride’s Blush Gown Perfectly Matched the Desert Hues in This Valley of Fire State Park Wedding

December 1, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Give us a desert, a stunning bride and groom, a blush dress — and we’ve fallen! Baylee and Michael’s Valley of Fire State Park wedding was something out of a bohemian desert fairy tale. We’re smiling ear-to-ear at every romantic moment Sunnie Heers Photography captured in this most breathtaking elopement location. From Baylee’s whimsical Watters dress to her Emma Katzka crown and boho bouquet designed by Flora Pop, we’re not sure if we’ll ever get over this bridal style. If you’ve been Pinning all the desert inspo, Baylee and Michaels Valley of Fire State Park wedding is the one for you!

The Couple:

Baylee & Michael

The Wedding:

Valley of Fire State Park, Las Vegas, Nevada

The most important part in planning was that we wanted to be in the desert. To feel intimate and remote. I found Sunnie (our photographer) searching desert elopements and then once we found the destination it flowed so easily. We don’t even have the words to describe how great our experience with Sunnie was. One thing that stood out was how comfortable she made Michael feel because he usually feels really awkward when getting his photo taken and we really appreciated that. Her eye for catching photos is pure magic.

Since we went with traditional service and vows we wrote intimate letters to one another, that we exchanged and read privately.

I didn’t know what colors I wanted, but I fell in love with my dress, which was blush. Everything fell into place around the dress. For Michael, I wanted him in a light color and for everything else I just let them pick. Even my bouquet, I just sent the florist a picture of my dress and told her to do whatever she thought. It turned out that both my sisters dresses matched my bouquet perfectly.

The Wedding:

Cherry Hall, Kansas City, Missouri

Our wedding planning advice would be to take every opportunity to find enjoyment in the planning process. Taylor and I were very fortunate, and had an amazing team which allowed us to have fun with our decisions, while staying within our budget. Every choice we had to make, we made together.

The most important thing to us when planning our wedding was making the day feel like us. Down to every last detail, we felt as though the day was an authentic representation of who we are as people, and as a couple. We wanted the entire experience to be a true celebration of genuine love and happiness.

The most memorable part of our day was the hour we spent together in between the ceremony and reception. While the rest of the guests were enjoying cocktail hour, Taylor and I were able to spend quality time alone before making our entrance into the reception. We loved having the opportunity to reflect on the ceremony and enjoying each others company one on one before joining rest of our family and friends.

Neither Taylor nor I are from Kansas City, but when it came to picking a location, it was an easy choice. We met in this city, and it felt only right that this is where we would get married. We toured multiple venues, but once we stepped foot in Cherry Hall, we knew it was the one. The details of the venue fit perfectly with the vibe we were going for, it was truly a perfect match.

I would highly recommend all of the professionals that I had an opportunity to work with. I had a real dream team, and they all played a large part in giving us the day of our dreams. Working with our photographer, Hayley Dolson, was an absolute dream. She made us feel comfortable, and helped direct us through the shots flawlessly. The entire day felt very natural and this definitely came through in the photos.

The Wedding:

Château de Meridon, Paris, France

The energy of the wedding was most important and we did what we could to optimize that. Beautiful flowers, fun music, a beautiful church service. Also, it was as important to us that our parents loved it as much as we did.

Paulina was great. She was a very relaxing presence, guided us well, and had great ideas for pictures. Our favorite photo is one of us walking in the lawn when the sun is going down. It is a candid shot and we both look very happy.

Our parents went to visit venues for us and they unanimously agreed that this was the best option. We could be outside and inside the Chateau, the staff spoke English and French and were extremely helpful, and the chateau was of course beautiful.
