Get ready for some serious sweetness! These “Love Session” photos of couple Stephanie and John (both professional runners) make their chemistry leap off the screen. Virginia based wedding photographer Jen Fariello captured the whole playful day on film, and I’m loving the results… and the outfits – what other couple could look as good pairing wellies and a sun dress with jeans and killer abs?
From photographer Jen Fariello: Couples often schedule a portrait session once they are formally engaged but I think couples should have portrait sessions regardless of an engagement. Photographs are the perfect way to capture all the special stages of any couple’s journey. This adorable duo decided to have a late summer love session at our local apple orchard, Carter Mountain Orchard in Charlottesville, Va.”
What three adjectives best describe your wedding? Quirky, vintage and fun
What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day? We wanted our wedding to be fun and laid-back. I have always loved Halloween, and, while we didn’t plan a Halloween Wedding, we thought it would be fun if guests had costumes on the dance floor at the reception. Our friends and family certainly rose to the occasion with some festive masks and props, which made for hilarious pictures! Regarding flowers, Ive always been inspired by outside the box arrangements of succulents, moss and driftwood. They are so unique and unexpected. My husband and I decided early on in our wedding planning that what mattered most to us was great food, great music and great pictures. We were more flexible about the other components of the wedding, because they were less of a priority to us.
Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding? We have two big dogs, and we made them part of our wedding party. They were escorted by a flower girl and ring bearer. I was not sure how they would do, but they were very well-behaved and made everyone smile when they walked down the aisle.
Our reception band, Soul Track Mind, was the band we went to see on our first date. They are a great soul band, and had absolutely everyone on the floor dancing. The photobooth was a lot of fun. My 82-year-old grandmother and her older sister were wheeled into the photobooth area in their wheelchairs, where they wore feather boas and pretended to fight over a huge prop pumpkin. Its important to me to honor my family members and ancestors. I did that in several ways: I wore the blue silk shoes my grandmother wore at her wedding 60 years ago, and during the ceremony, I wore my other grandmothers ring with the birthstones of all her children. We had wedding pictures of our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents displayed by the guestbook. Everyone loved seeing the old pictures, and noting family resemblances.
