Surprise-Wedding-in-New-Hampshire-20

Some weddings come together with the help of family and friends over the course of several months. Theresa and JJ’s New England wedding was a complete surprise to their guests, who thought they were just attending an engagement party. To cut down on costs for loved ones having to travel multiple times, Theresa and JJ put together the wedding of their dreams with the help of an amazing team of wedding professionals. Bethany & Dan Photography had the fun job of capturing the whole shebang, from breezy vacation engagement party to the absolute surprise on the guests’ faces to the elegant New England themed wedding.

The Couple: Theresa and JJ

The Wedding: Bluewater Farm, Andover, New Hampshire

The Inspiration: “The theme for our wedding decor and the overall weekend was a nod to the golden age of New England vacationing. Nostalgic of people fleeing the city for a weekend at a New England “camp” for canoeing, croquet, and cocktails. Rustic with intentional touches of splendor.

We planned a surprise wedding because we wanted to eliminate some of the stressful, obligatory, and expensive parts of a wedding while create fun moments for our guests! We chose Bluewater Farm in Andover, NH, near where we both grew up. It’s a former girls summer camp that accommodates 70+ overnight guests, perched on the edge of a beautiful lake. The location had all the lovely elements of a relaxed NH summer camp (hiking, canoeing, campfire, lodge) while being large enough for us to host most of our guests for the entire weekend. Our wedding weekend was friend and family centered and full of summer fun like swimming, canoeing, roasting marshmallows, hiking, and barbequing.

The Moments: “The surprise! Only our immediate family knew that we were getting married. A few months before the wedding we announced our engagement and invited everyone to our “engagement party.” There was definitely some suspicions that something was up, and once everyone arrived for cocktail hour we announced that sadly we were ending our engagement…because it was our wedding day!

The Couple Recommends: “Our wedding team was amazing. The pictures that Bethany & Dan Photography are one of the most beautiful wedding gifts we received. They captured the joy of the day and beauty of guests in such a natural and organic way. There were so many beautiful images that we sent our guests prints of the beautiful images that Bethany & Dan captured of each of them. Also, they are photography ninjas capturing the most amazing images without you even knowing they are there.

Our food was amazing. We never dreamed that a catering company could serve restaurant quality food. Blood’s Catering service, quality, and presentation was amazing. All of our guests said it was the best wedding food…ever. I wish I could eat the food again right now. We bought 11 different cakes from Bread & Chocolate Bakery in Concord, NH. They do not have a website or a facebook page, they only have the greatest desserts that you will ever eat. One of the cooler surprises we gave our guests was 20 pizzas delivered late night. This would not have been possible without the amazing staff at Pizza Chef of Franklin who drove into the woods in the middle of the night to feed our slightly inebriated and hungry guests.

Our wedding would have been a complete disaster and TT would have had a nervous breakdown without the help of the amazing team at All The Fuss Events. Emily and her team made it happen, got it done, and never bothered the bride with the small stuff. Our families want to adopt Emily because she confidently and ably overcame any obstacle and managed every personality. Aaron Denny is a perfectionist. We have been to many weddings where music was completely out of tune with the guests. Aaron played only music that we love. It was the soundtrack to our lives and enhanced the entire experience.

We had the good fortune of having a jeweler in our family. TT’s brother, Leo Gerrior is the manager of Day’s Jewlers in Portland, ME. One of the most fun parts of getting engaged was having Leo scour the world for just the right blue-green sapphire to create a unique engagement ring. Leo brought us stone after stone until we found the perfect one for us. He also married us!

Vintage Wedding at Hidden Oaks

November 23, 2014 | Junebug Weddings

vintage wedding at Hidden Oaks

Planning a vintage-inspired wedding takes a clear vision and carefully selected elements. Rachel and Pieter’s wedding planning process is one to which brides with vintage wedding dreams should pay close attention! Their vintage wedding at Hidden Oaks in Temecula was based on a soft color palette of peach, sage green, and gold, all muted to appear truly antique. The bride’s Allure Bridals gown had a delicate vintage flair, and her simple styling and dramatic makeup pulled the lovely look together. Photographer Ryan Horban of Rock This Moment seemingly captured the whole wedding experience through a lens that mimicked the old photographs Rachel and Pieter hung around their reception décor.

The Couple: Rachel and Pieter

The Wedding: Hidden Oaks, Temecula, California

The Inspiration: “Before we had a theme, we knew we wanted to be married under a canopy of trees. The beauty and rustic nature of the outdoors dictated a lot of our initial design choices in working with moss, natural greens, pine cones and succulents. I’m attracted to all things vintage which came into our bigger style pieces like a vintage couch and coffee table, mismatched floral plates and flatware and lace. Our colors were a soft, muted peach, sage green and accents of gold. Wedding day fashion was so much fun! My bridesmaids were given a color pallet and dress length and told to purchase something that they would absolutely wear again. Pieter‘s groomsmen were in gray slacks, ivory shirts and were given the option of bow tie, or tie, along with suspenders or a vest. Only Pieter was in a full suit. My dress was magnificent. I wore no jewelry and no veils. I didn’t want to detract from the dress!

The Moments: “Seeing his face while I was walking down the aisle. I didn’t see anyone else, I didn’t see the ceremony site and all of the decor we had worked so hard on. All I saw was him. For Pieter, it was when we first sat down as a married couple to have an incredible meal with all of the people that we love around us.

The Couple Recommends: “Our photographer was incredible! Ryan has such a remarkable and artistic eye, we could not have been happier with the beautiful shots he captured of our wedding day. We didn’t feel forced or posed in any way. He really captured what the day felt like for us in a beautifully honest way. He worked quickly, professionally and made the day so much fun for us, really relaxed. In love with his photography!

Our florist, Lisa Martin, is a genius with floral design. she went above and beyond for us. I came to her with a Pinterest page full of ideas. She helped me narrow down, and then fulfilled every dream I had and more. We didn’t have a cake topper and Lisa burned wood rounds with our initials on them. That is just one example of her amazing eye for detail in going above and beyond. She made our rustic vintage wedding come to life. She made woodsy and elegant mesh perfectly! And she was so positive, such a blessing to us.

Deb Abeel, our coordinator made the day run flawlessly. She had an answer to every question, every concern, every detail was under her control. We were so secure in her hands. We cannot thank her enough for her work on our wedding. It ran so smoothly. She was the glue that made this wedding come together. We couldn’t have done it without her. ”

Rustic Crested Butte Wedding

November 22, 2014 | Junebug Weddings

rustic Aspen wedding

Illuminated by the golden leaves surrounding the ceremony location, Mackenzie and Jeromey’s rustic Crested Butte wedding is a breath of fresh air. Limelife Photography captured absolutely stunning portraits of the couple in front of the fiery backdrop. We love the sweet aqua and yellow color palette, which perfectly complements the natural landscape, and also provides a soft playfulness to the wedding décor. Mackenzie’s unique bridal style is rustic chic and reflects her personality beautifully. We love when a couple chooses a wedding location that represents them. Jeromey was raised in the mountains, so Crested Butte was the ideal spot for their special day.

The Couple: Mackenzie & Jeromey

The Wedding: Crested Butte, Colorado

The Inspiration: “Jeromey grew up in the mountains, his soul lives there and I love the feeling of being tucked up an away in the mountains. We both agreed that using our venue as the focal point would be best, utilizing the amazing scenery and of course the Crested Butte trees changing in color. Making sure not to overpower the landscape, I wanted to accent it with vintage and very personal details.

The Moments: “Oh wow, a favorite single moment? Is that possible? At diner during the speeches, I (Mackenzie) was defiantly crying. I was so overwhelmed with love. Sitting next to my now husband, surrounded by all my favorite people in such an amazing place, literally took my breath away. That all these people where here for us! I kept thinking, I just want this night to last forever! How many times in a lifetime will you be in one of your favorite places on earth with all your favorite people? Not many, that’s why that moment will always be the most vivid in my mind from our wedding.

The Couple Recommends: “They were all AMAZING, but Jamie with Blue Bird Events and Weddings made it all happen. She was a dream come true, as she literally made our dream come true. She and her team went above and beyond making every last detail perfection and most of all made our day stress free! And of course Becky and Jesse with Limelife Photography. Without them and their amazing talent, we would not have these breathtaking photographs to remember our special day!
