Rebecca and Kyle’s sweet barn wedding in Virginia shows you just how elegant a rural wedding can be. The pastel color palette and chic bridal style lend themselves to an elevated version on the classic rustic wedding. The bridesmaids dresses and pastel petals are positively dreamy. Photographer Ashleigh Hobson captured such breathtaking moments of the couple throughout their celebration at the Inn at Westwood Farm, which is just the most romantic venue in Virginia.
Kyle grew up on a farm and his father tended cattle most of his life in rural Virginia. The country and the mountains are a fundamental part of who he is. I love going to his hometown and spending time in the beautiful country side. We wanted to ensure that the landscape he knew and loved was a part of our wedding, while still keeping the affair upscale. We were living in Hong Kong at the time of planning, so we were into the idea of having the fashion be form-fitting and suited to everyone’s shape. The bridesmaids got their own pastel-colored dresses, and we had all of the groomsman’s suits custom-made in Hong Kong.
The Moments:
Probably the moment when we walked up to the tent and were introduced as Mr. and Mrs. for the first time. Our friends and loved ones were cheering and clapping so loudly that I almost looked behind me to see if it was really for us. It was overwhelming to see the emotion and affection in everyone’s faces, all at once.

This is hard to narrow down. I would say my “event planner,” who was actually just the site planner for the weekend. She and her husband own the venue and they basically make sure everything goes smoothly. They were extremely professional and everything really came off without a hitch.
My photographer was also amazing. She was very in touch with my style and really captured a lot of great moments. The florist was also spectacular. I had to do very little work, just gave her an idea of what I was looking for and she ran with it. She perfectly captured my vision. She also went above and beyond having late night phone calls with me while I was living in Hong Kong.
I also think the make-up/hair artists were really great. I feel like normally wedding make up comes off so heavy and the bridesmaids are always unhappy in the end. They really understand the natural look and did such an excellent job. Everyone was really pleased with how their own styles turned out.
Lastly, the DJ. He also had a ton of late night calls with us and was able to just get a sense of who we were and make a playlist from there, without us having to agonize over it. He was spot on all night, the dance floor was never empty. He also seamlessly transitioned from one event to the next — he was really the definition of a good wedding MC/DJ.

A wedding as ethereal as this must be an actual fairy tale. Vanessa and Steffen looked like princess and prince as they exchanged vows at their wedding in Dorset, England. The pair were engaged for three years before saying I Do, giving them ample time to plan and collect decor for their dream wedding. Along with decor, Vanessa and Steffen collected a team of the best wedding professionals Northern England has to offer, including Samuel Docker Photography. Samuel beautifully captured the enchanting wedding celebration and the results will have you daydreaming for the rest of the week.

The Inspiration:
After years of being engaged, I had pretty clear ideas of what I liked and didn’t like, and I realized that trying to sum up the wedding theme as if it were a brand essence was not going to work — I wanted a little bit of all the things we like to be present in a way or another at the wedding, even if that meant not always being consistent. So we created and bought pretty much everything ourselves, from the stationery to the table centerpieces, including most of the flowers, some of the food, and all the decoration.
There was no color scheme per se, however we kept away from harsh or bright colors and opted for soft pinks, white, purple, green, grey and gold hues instead. All in all, our wedding reflected who we are – our love of good food, wine and champagne, old books and vintage decoration, mixed with pretty flowers, romantic candles and glitter for a touch of glamour. Altogether, this created a rather whimsical and feminine but also vintage and pared down look for the day.
I wanted my own look to make a similar statement, and so I worked with the dress designer, make-up artist and florist to pull together an ethereal yet elegant look. One thing I am particular proud of is how I partly designed a gorgeous dress with the team at Naomi Neoh Studio, in a very light blush color which suited my (very) fair skin better than usual ivory tones. The dress had structure and a full skirt, but the silk chiffon was flowing very nicely as I moved around (contrary to many other dresses I had tried on which seemed to have a life of their own) and the lace sleeves were soft and comfortable. Steffen, on the other hand, looked very dapper all day and night in a fitted three-piece Hugo Boss suit and brown accessories. I seriously think he out-shone the bride!
The Moments:
I bet a lot of people say the same thing, but the ceremony ended up being the most emotional, memorable, magical part of the day. We had an Anglican Church wedding, in a small village church we’ve attended for a little less than a year now. The village we married in, Piddlehinton, is set amongst the rolling hills of Dorset (about 3 hours southwest of London). Some of the village inhabitants and regular churchgoers joined us for the ceremony, which made it all the more special to us as they’d welcomed us so well into their community.

Our florist Jessie was the most organized, thoughtful, reliable person I’ve ever dealt with, and she and her team are extremely talented. Our caterers Red Herring impressed us all day long – the food was unbelievably high-standard. I would not expect more from a fancy restaurant and they pulled all of this despite our very last-minute arrangements. And finally, Sam our photographer was a delight to work with. Everyone loved him and realized how great a difference it makes when your wedding suppliers seem to enjoy the day too and have their share of fun.
Thanks to Samuel Docker for sharing this glamorous wedding in Dorset with Junebug! Love Sam’s photography as much as we do? You’ve got to see Holly and Simon’s rustic organic farm wedding.
