Bohemian Texas Wedding at Sage Hill Inn Above Onion Creek

May 4, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

With romantically personal touches and rustic natural elements abound, Adrienne and Trey’s Sukkot wedding was a perfectly bohemian affair. The intimate celebration took place at Sage Hill In Above Onion Creek in the Texas Hill Country where flowers arranged by Bricolage Curated Florals beautifully complemented the wild and wooded landscape. Photographer Geoff Duncan masterfully captured the stunning decor designed by Bird Dog Weddings and the sweet moments shared between the newlyweds.

The Couple:

Adrienne and Trey

The Wedding:

Sage Hill Inn Above Onion Creek, Kyle, Texas

The Inspiration:

We knew we wanted an intimate wedding, where nature would be the most beautiful backdrop. The modern rustic inn where we were married and stayed with most of the guests for the weekend set the tone for a retreat wedding weekend, soaking up the landscape of the Texas Hill Country. Our wedding fell during the Jewish harvest festival called Sukkot, when temporary structures are built out of natural materials as gathering spaces during the holiday week. Trey designed and built a sukkah from local cedar posts and decking, and I styled it with some of our own belongings and vintage rentals. So that added another layer of inspiration, as a very cool intersection between our shared appreciation of the built environment and the natural. For the overall style, I was drawn to rich fall colors, lush foliage, and romantic decor with natural and bohemian textures. Our clothing choices reflected this too. If it makes sense, we felt the theme of our wedding was kind of just ‘us’. Everyone kept saying how the wedding felt like such a reflection of who we are and that made us even more happy.

The Moments:

There were a lot of favorite moments! Lots of laughter with friends and family that I’ll always remember. I think the most special moment though, was seeing the expression on Trey‘s face as I walked towards him down the path to our ceremony site, and then holding hands and looking into each others’ eyes as the ceremony began, with our dear ones standing around us under the oak trees. That was such a beautiful feeling.

The Couple Recommends:

Geoff is an incredible photographer and all-around fantastic person to work with. He is exceptionally talented and he captured our wedding day so beautifully as our happiest story. We had so much fun getting to know him and becoming friends.

Edgy Urban Wedding at The Smog Shoppe

May 3, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Edgy-Urban-Wedding-at-The-Smog-Shoppe (21 of 32)

Both born and raised in the city, Alyssa and Abe wanted a wedding that represented their style — urban and edgy. Complete with garage doors and walls covered with greenery, The Smog Shoppe was the perfect venue for this couple to exchange vows. Deep blue attire and green plants dressed the venue, creating richly colored decor. The bride wore an effortlessly gorgeous gown designed by the amazing Karen Willis HolmesViera Photographics was there to capture the romantic moments the couple spent at their edgy wedding.

The Couple:

Alyssa and Abe

The Wedding:

The Smog Shoppe, Los Angeles, California

The Inspiration:

Abe and I are born and raised city people and we wanted our wedding to reflect who we were — urban, modern and edgy. We chose to hold the wedding in December in an uber-cool Los Angeles venue called “The Smog Shoppe” which is, quite literally a converted auto smog shop complete with garage doors and everything. The best part of the venue is this incredible living wall and I wanted the decor concept to embrace the urban greenery of the venue while factoring in other wintery elements such as icy greens, navy, blues and black.

Style and fashion is very important to me and I wanted the bridal party to match the chic, modern vibe of the wedding, so I styled them in jumpsuits, crop tops and gorgeous color blocked dresses, all in shades of black and navy. The groomsmen also wore black and navy and I chose an icy, sequined Karen Willis Holmes gown which I altered to include more of a plunging neckline.

The Moments:

The best part of my wedding was probably the fact that my friends were in charge of every portion of the design. I’m lucky enough to be friends with the wedding event design duo extraordinaire “Next Saturday Affairs” who brought my vision to life. My good friend Ashley from Ash + OAK floral design made me all of my gorgeous leafy tropical bouquets, my friend Sarah from Arrow Art did all of the hand lettered signs, and my best friend and bridesmaid Arjuna hand drew all of the guests faces for the magnetic escort cards/ wedding favors. It was a team effort and beautifully executed.

Mid-Century Inspired Wedding at the Madonna Inn

May 2, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Mid-Century-Inspired-Wedding-at-the-Madonna-Inn (28 of 33)

Erik and Valerie’s sweet, picnic wedding at the Madonna Inn in California seemed to be straight out of a 1960’s photo shoot! The bride wore an ivory, structured tea-length dress and styled her hair with a satin bow. Striped, wooded parasols, plaid picnic blankets, mason jar glasses, and Coca Cola all came together to produce this picture-perfect, colorful wedding. Talented photographer Michelle Roller captured the amazing moments the couple spent on their big day!

The Couple:

Erik and Valerie

The Wedding:

Madonna Inn, San Luis Obispo, California

The Inspiration:

I would describe the décor and fashion inspiration as harkening back to a mid-century picnic. The casual nature of a picnic was exactly the right feel for such a small guest list, but the vintage inspired theme made it a bit more semi-formal and special. It all revolved around the wedding dress I picked and then all the details came into place based on that.

The Moments:

I enjoyed our first dance because it was the first time we could celebrate the huge feat of pulling off the wedding and forget all the stress that accompanies such an event. It was so relaxed and care-free, and everyone was enjoying themselves.

The Couple Recommends:

I would love to recommend Michelle Roller, our photographer. She did a spectacular job at capturing all of the special moments of the wedding. I would recommend her to anyone who needs very artistic photography for a special event in their lives. I also highly recommend our ceremony and picnic venue, The Avila Beach Golf Resort. They were very accommodating and helped me to organize details of the wedding I hadn’t thought of. Their location and venue are simply gorgeous with views of Avila Beach, and for the couple that wants a beach wedding without to much wind and sand, this is your place.
