Some of our favorite engagement sessions take place in the couple’s natural habitat, so it’s no wonder we love Sharon and Clarke’s engagement shoot around their most beloved spots in Portland. Alyssa Shrock Photography captured the couple as they sipped coffee in a little shop with gorgeous light, hiked out to a romantic waterfall, and then took in their city together on a rooftop overlooking a quiet Portland evening.
When you find your soulmate, you just know. Falling in love with a venue was just as easy when it came to Iyenní and Fernando’s first look at Hacienda San Carlos. The rustic location was the perfect spot for elegant styling and a festive celebration of the couple’s love. Jorge Kick Photography captured the extraordinary range of emotions Iyenní and Fernando went through on their wedding day, from their intimate first look to meeting once again at the end of aisle where they became husband and wife. Fireworks lit up the sky above the venue as one last hurrah before closing out the night of dancing and celebration.
We wanted to have a unique small wedding, the location was really important for us, we wanted something with history and personality. We found this Hacienda in Yautepec and we fall in love with the place, the moment we saw it we knew we wanted to get married in that place. The decor, we wanted to be simple but elegant with a lot of details and textures to make it personal and cozy, I would describe it as rustic-chic. Some of the decorations were hand-made by us. The dress code was formal. We wanted all of our friends and family to look gorgeous, and they did! My bridesmaids were wearing grey dresses but the 4 of them chose the shade and shape that suited them best (they looked so beautiful, and they were comfortable).
The Moments:
This one is hard… We enjoyed so many things of the wedding… Everything was awesome. I loved how the chappel looked with all our friends and family, the vibe was pure love, and when I walked down the aisle I noticed Fer was looking like a little soldier to the front, when I get there I noticed he was trying to hold the tears, he took my hand so strong, I started holding my tears too, after a few seconds he looked at me and he told me: It passed, how about you? I told him: Me too. We never let go our hands during the whole ceremony.
And then of course the party was amazing we danced with everyone at the wedding, everybody was very happy just like us.

Jorge Kick’s photos were amazing, he could capture the special moments of the wedding and at the moment we didn’t notice he was taking the pictures. When we saw the album, we loved it cause the pictures are so perfectly chosen, that it tells a story, our story. He is very professional and such a nice person to work with. I recommend him by heart, on this special day I wouldn’t change him for anyone. Now all of my friends want him on their weddings. If you want your story to be told in pictures he is your guy!
Lauren and Jason’s classic ballroom wedding at The Room on Main couldn’t have been more chic with its subtle 1940s styling and the bride’s stunning and unique Nicole Miller bow gown. Guests enjoyed reception seating as they watched Lauren and Jason exchange vows before everyone danced the night away to Mistral Band, a terrific big band that kept the dance floor grooving. Shaun Menary Photography beautifully captured the entire affair, including some of our favorite moments of Lauren and Jason sharing a few intimate minutes together before and after the ceremony.
Lauren‘s favorite moment (and Jason‘s least favorite) was the moment right after the couple was pronounced man and wife. They had planned to make a quick recessional to the back room at the Room on Main, but as they were making their way there, Lauren decided it was too short. So, she lead Jason around both sides of the room, making their way to every table, to make sure the big band could finish their song before they exited the room. Jason was mortified!
The Couple Recommends:
The band, Mistral, was amazing. Sammy Davenport, who is the leader of the band, organized a Big Band to play before the ceremony and during dinner, and it set a magical, elegant tone for the evening. It made everyone feel like they were transported back to the ’40s.
