A handful of fabulous dresses, a remote woodland setting by the water, and an insanely gorgeous couple are just a few of our favorite things about this Dallas engagement shoot. Courtney and Sebby took romance to the max for their engagement photos with Kellsworth Photography, dressing to the nines and embracing their great love in front of the camera. Courtney’s über-chic Rent the Runway gowns and hair and makeup by Butter Artistry made for a stunning juxtaposition against the organic Texas nature. The deep tones in Kellsworth Photography‘s images are enchanting, sophisticated, and full of passion — just like the couple!
Congrats to Courtney and Sebby on their upcoming nuptials! Love the drama of a sequin dress for an engagement session? Check out Jen and Matt’s glamorous downtown Chicago engagement for more inspiration.
Wedding photographers themselves, Kaylee and Karlyn have seen weddings big and small. The couple decided on a destination elopement in Isle of Skye, where Scottish traditions and personal vows made up their emotional ceremony in the mountains. After saying “I do,” the newlyweds explored Fairy Glen with photographers Dylan and Joanna of The Kitcheners. Those quiet moments, paired with the majestic scenery, made for some truly phenomenal images that we’re sure Kaylee and Karlyn will forever cherish.
The Couple:
Kaylee and Karlyn
The Wedding:
Fairy Glen, Isle of Skye, Scotland
We wanted to keep the day as intimate, personal, and simple as possible. The most important consideration was keeping the day about our marriage and the loved ones who traveled the distance to be with us.
We decided to incorporate a few traditional Scottish rites into the ceremony, but to also write vows to read to one another. There was hand-fasting, band warming and a Scottish reading or two. Our humanist officiant, John Howieson, was a dream to work with. He was so helpful in assisting us every step of the way.
After our ceremony and family formals, we spent about an hour alone with The Kitcheners exploring the Fairy Glen for our portraits. It was surreal to be in such a magnificent place, holding each other and knowing we were officially wed. We spent a long time wondering if or when we would be able to marry one another legally. After the ceremony, we were just so giddy. We were there in Scotland together, married and time had seemed to stop. That was unforgettable.
Scotland kind of chose our vibe for us, and it reflected everything about our relationship perfectly. After 7 years together, we wanted our wedding to be all about our vows to each other and for the atmosphere to be humble us.
Being wedding photographers ourselves, we knew that photography would be a priority. We had actually decided to get married on the Isle of Skye mostly because of Dylan and Joanna’s work. It really floored us. Scotland’s hauntingly beautiful landscape seemed the perfect setting for our small wedding.
Congratulations to Kaylee and Karlyn on their sweet Fairy Glen wedding in Scotland! For more epic elopement inspiration, be sure to check out Elycia and Ronnie’s adventurous Icelandic elopement.
Wanting a wedding that was entirely personalized to their love story, Leslie and Tim transformed Monk Space into their intimate, elopement-style wedding. The couple’s DIY wedding details brought the warehouse to life: the reception tables were lined with hand-painted gold wine glasses and copies of some of their favorite books, the walls were decorated in strands of garland, and the entire room was lit up with white string lights. It looked like something straight out of a fairy tale, which is fitting because these two book lovers deserved nothing less than a fairy tale of their own for their big day.
It was most important to us that our wedding felt small and intimate. Also, we did not want all the usual traditions of a wedding; we were aiming more for a large elopement.
We wanted the wedding to be true to our personal style: a little bohemian mixed with an urban vibe. We had a long vintage rug as our aisle runner framed by thick garland on both sides, and we stood on individual bohemian rugs at the front.
The most memorable part of the day for me was walking down the aisle. The nerves had finally calmed and there were all these people I love and the person I love the most waiting at the front.
Having a wedding in a blank space venue means a whole lot of DIY, but I could NOT have done the wedding without having Grand Hope Events helping me along the way and making all the decor come together so stunningly.
The exposed brick of the venue was perfect for the urban feel and made it easy to play off of with shades of gold and blush. Serving pizza as our main course was the cherry on top to us of making our wedding feel like a backyard celebration.
All their hard work paid off! We absolutely adore the personal touches Leslie and Tim brought into their wedding. For more DIY wedding inspiration, check out this personalized Muskoka wedding in the woods!
