Mississippi’s Rasberry Greene provided the loveliest woodland backdrop for Dusty and JC’s romantic wedding day. The pair personalized every detail of the wedding to the max, from handpicked playlist selections from the soundtrack of their relationship to a taco bar to bridesmaid-assembled bouquets. Luckily, the couple enlisted Maria Newman Photography, who knew them personally and served as a confidant in wedding planning as well as the captor of every unforgettable detail.

I will always remember JC‘s vows. He cried, laughed, referenced Kanye West, talked about adventures, love, and how out of the billions of people in the world, we found one another and were embarking on something so great. That, and when he dropped my wedding band on ground at the exact moment our officiant said it represented our love. I knew during these moments that getting married to him was going to be one of the best decisions I’d ever made!
Our wedding was a collaboration of family and friends, with nearly every detail DIY! We ordered our flowers wholesale through FiftyFlowers and The Bouqs. My bridesmaids helped make the bouquets, garlands, and floral arrangements. Our wedding arch was decorated with foraged greenery from our photographer’s yard. All the signs were made by one of my bridesmaids. The table decorations were either borrowed or bought at flea markets. All of our amazing food was cooked by JC‘s wonderful family. We had a taco bar filled with various meats and salsas, a fruit table, agua frescas, and a traditional Mexican hot punch. Our cake was made by a family friend, and was then decorated so sweetly by JC‘s mom using pomegranates and olive leaves from a tree JC bought the day of the wedding.
Music is important to us, is basically the reason we ended up dating. Our first “date” was to a Yeasayer show, and our second was to a music festival in Mexico City to see The Drums. We wanted to include music on our pre-ceremony and dinner playlists that represented us, so nearly every song was from a band we had seen together.JC chose every song with so much purpose, I’d say this was probably his favorite part of wedding planning.
