With their 30 guests as witness, Pia and Matt said “I do” overlooking the mountain where they first met. The lakefront wedding in Whistler, BC took place at Edgewater Lodge, a now-defunct venue that happened to be in the exact spot Pia and Matt hoped to tie the knot. The intimate dinner party reception may be one of our favorites yet, with one long farm table seating every guest, strings of cafe lights overhead and a band of their friends playing Al Green’s Let’s Stay Together into the night. Photographers Shari + Mike captured every bit of the colorful, crafty, and cheerful event.

Edgewater Lodge, Whistler, British Columbia
We were looking for a venue close to where we first met, in Whistler. It was also important to us to find somewhere that guests could stay to eliminate the need for taxis, hotels, and admin for guests. When we stumbled upon Edgewater Lodge, it was perfect; a small Canadian-style lodge on Green Lake, overlooking the mountain where we first met.
The most memorable part of the day was the kiss! The moment we sealed the deal.
Shari + Mike are so incredibly fun, comforting and easy-going. They made us feel completely relaxed the entire lead up to the wedding and felt like family by the wedding day. We feel incredibly lucky to have found these two.
We gifted mini glass bottles of Noble Maple Syrup. Although their origin is USA, maple syrup seemed a very Canadian gift for our guests who were mainly Australian and English.
Our favorite photo is of Matt & I dancing in front of the long-table after dinner. It’s in black and white and you can see the string lights in the background and a huge smile on Matt‘s face. It brings back such happy memories. We didn’t plan to have our first dance outside to this song, but spontaneously got up after dinner while our family band played an Angus & Julia Stone song. It was such a happy moment and Shari + Mike captured it perfectly.
