Wanting to personalize their outdoor Singapore wedding, Shufen and Adrian turned to DIY. Nearly one hundred geometric shapes in gold and white, handcrafted by Shufen’s bridesmaids, hung around the venue for a modern look. The couple dreamed of a ceremony under the trees, and the bride’s sister designed floral elements in pink and red that popped exquisitely against the greenery. Ting Wang of Ksana beautifully documented the outdoor affair, capturing the dreamy gold light, the emotional ceremony, and every inch of DIY goodness!

I wanted a personalised touch to the wedding that would make it uniquely ours. I wanted guests to leave feeling that they had attended a wedding that was so “Shufen & Adrian” and not just another pretty wedding. To make it so, I knew it had to be an outdoor ceremony, there had to be trees involved, lots of DIY, and songs that reflected us.
Every part was amazing! But the solemnisation ceremony was most magical. It was surreal walking down the aisle lined with the joyful faces of loved ones, through glittering bubbles dancing in the wind and with the sun’s golden rays setting behind me. Funnily, prior to the wedding, the walk down the aisle was actually the part I was dreading the most as I was sure it would be an awkward and uncomfortable affair!
I have camera phobia and feel extremely awkward posing for photos. However, with Ting from Ksana, it was like a friend was taking photos for us. She has an easy friendly nature that makes you feel comfortable from the start. After our first meeting Adrian and I felt like we had just made a new friend! You can tell she really enjoys what she does. During the wedding, it never felt like she was just going through the motions of doing her job, you could see she was constantly being inspired by things around her to create and capture the best of the moment.
To my bridemaids dismay, I was insistent that I wanted hanging gold geometric shapes which could not be purchased. So almost a hundred were made with cardstock paper, spray painted gold and strung with fishing twine.
I incorporated my love for quotes onto hand painted wooden boards scattered around the ceremony area as well as smaller printed cards placed on the dining tables. With so much DIY, we were very blessed to have amazing friends in our bridal party who set up the entire venue in only a couple of hours before! We got by with a lotta help from our friends!
