Jordan and Kyle’s Salt Lake City engagement session left us enchanted by their newly-engaged bliss and obsessed with their effortlessly cool style. Blush Photography documented the couple’s exploration through the woods of Salt Lake City, featuring creekside cuddles and wind-blown strolls through open fields. We love the evolution of the couple’s outfits throughout the day – from casual skinny jeans and t-shirts to cozy sweaters and sneakers to dreamy linen and denim – all of which complemented the natural, earthy tones of the landscape.
Three years after a private wedding ceremony at the bride’s parents’ home, Jennifer and Martin decided to have another wedding celebration at Locusts on Hudson that focused on their marriage, their family, and their closest friends. After exchanging vows near the waterfront, they made their way to the property’s barn for a cozy reception that was full of rustic décor and impressive floral arrangements from Bourgeon Floral. Because the bride knew she didn’t want to wear white, she chose a color palette of blush and grey tones to combine a glamorous vibe with natural, rustic charm. Her gorgeous Naeem Khan gown was certainly an incredible nod to old Hollywood glam! Photographer Jonas Peterson did an amazing job capturing the mood and scenery of their entire day.
Locusts on Hudson was really the only venue I considered. A friend knew I wanted a barn and water views, and suggested I look at it. I saw it and fell in love. I would move in tomorrow if that were an option!
We had legally wed three years ago in a small private ceremony at my parent’s house officiated by a family friend who is a judge. This time we wanted to make it a celebration of our marriage, family, and love for all our friends and family to witness. We wrote our own vows and had our dear friend, Aditya, officiate the ceremony.
There were so many favorite moments, but I particularly liked one from the recessional when our son joined us. He naturally wanted to swing between our arms, and Jonas captured the moment.
I designed all the invitations myself, including painting the watercolor flower trim. I worked with Anne Robin on the calligraphy. Her style is so romantic and beautiful. It was a labor of love, and I was thrilled with the outcome.
Congratulations to Jennifer and Martin, and a special thanks to photographer Jonas Peterson for sharing these beautiful wedding photos with Junebug! When we first found out that this bride’s mother made her incredible lace gown while battling cancer, we knew Lacy and Billy’s wedding at Aurora Acres was something special. Then we learned that the groom – country music artist Billy Dawson – wrote the processional and first dance songs specifically for his bride, and our hearts almost couldn’t handle the sweetness. Lacy and Billy’s special day was full of the rustic charm we love about southern weddings, including natural wood décor, stunning white floral arrangements, twinkle lights galore, and a scrumptious taco bar – all of which was DIYed, by the way! It all came together beautifully through the lens of photographer Stephanie Sorenson, who played with unique angles and lighting to capture every enchanting detail and intimate moment.
This was pretty much an all DIY wedding, but my favorite DIY element was my wedding dress. My mother made my dress – and did so all while battling cancer and going through treatments. She is an amazing seamstress and made dresses for my sisters and I growing up, so it was only fitting for her to design my wedding dress. It will be something I treasure forever!
The most memorable part of the day was when I was tucked away in the woods waiting to walk down the aisle. Seeing my soon-to-be husband walking my mom – who just overcame a battle with cancer – down the aisle brought tears to my eyes.
We did a DIY taco bar that included brisket tacos in a locally made organic corn tortilla topped with your choice of specialty sauces! We also had a coffee bar from Notable Blends coffee and a Sweet Tea bar from McAlister’s Deli!
