Cooler Than Cool Redwood National Park Vow Renewal

July 8, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

Emma and Dilan celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary in style with an epic national park vow renewal that takes dreaminess to a whole new level! Donning a lovely lace dress from Wear Your Love and a dapper grey suit, the couple trekked through California’s redwood forest to find the perfect place to exchange new vows and start a new chapter in their marriage. Then it was time for dancing, cuddling, and basically just being adorable as Catherine Coons Photography captured some breathtaking moments amid the natural landscape!

From the photographer: Emma & Dilan renewed their vows after 5 years of marriage surrounded by the biggest, most beautiful Redwood trees I’ve ever seen. This has been a dream of theirs for so long, and when they asked me to come along with them on this adventure I could hardly contain my excitement.

We drove from San Francisco to Eureka and, once we arrived, we started on the trail searching for the perfect spot to exchange vows. It was warm, sunny, and the speckled afternoon light streaming into the forest made it feel like a dream. It was really special to have just the three of us in a huge forest, laughing, sharing stories, and learning about one another. It definitely goes down as one of the most memorable things I’ve ever photographed, and I hope something brings me back there to tell another couple’s story.

DIY Vintage-Inspired Philly Wedding at Bartram’s Garden

July 8, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

When vintage shop owners Jennifer and Ronnie decided to plan their Philadelphia wedding at Bartram’s Garden, they knew two things: they wanted a vintage decor, and they wanted to DIY nearly every detail! Using their expertise from running Hoof & Antler, they created an exceptional vintage garden party on the outskirts of the city. Every inch of their wedding day was expertly styled, and no surface was left without lush and organic florals and greenery from Fresh Design Florist. To bring the garden party theme full circle, they set up vintage lounge seating areas (complete with a box of cigars) and yard games for the guests to enjoy. We love how the couple used so many natural elements to bring their dreamy garden wedding to life. We especially love that Tree of Life Films & Photography was there to capture it all in stunning detail!

Living in the city, we wanted to stay true to our Philly roots while simultaneously being surrounded by the beauty of nature, which is not the easiest of tasks in a large city! Additionally, we run a vintage home decor and clothing business, so it was important for us to incorporate vintage vibes throughout the event. Our love of all things vintage is a huge part of who we are as a couple (we went thrifting as part of our first date!), so it was essential to incorporate these elements. When all was said and done, we located a beautiful botanical garden nestled on the outskirts of the city and created a “vintage garden party” look and feel!

We created or procured most of our wedding decor. We have a small vintage decor business, and I (the bride) am a graphic designer. We also had help from my father, who is a carpenter, for all of our power tool needs. Our list of DIY projects included: all the paper materials, which we printed and crafted at home; the table runners, table number stands, and cake stands; the ceremony archway; DIY photo booth background; and the giant JENGA game.

Luckily for us, we have lots of incredibly talented friends, so we decided to put their talents to good use throughout the day! Our wedding ceremony pianist and violinist, our officiant, and our DJ were all close friends of ours, which, coupled with our bridal parties, really added to the overall sense of family and celebration. Having all of our favorite people taking part in the event is something that we’ll never forget!

Being an artist, and an avid DIYer, I wanted to finely curate every detail of our wedding. For not just my own sanity, but that of my future husband, I quickly realized we could not do it alone. We needed a planner — someone to hold our hand along the way, and take care of all the day-of logistics. Hiring a day-of planner will allow you to relax, maximize time, and really enjoy your day. Plus, by opting to DIY everything possible, we were able to hire a planner at a budget friendly price. We cannot express enough how many headaches we saved by taking this approach.

Earthy Boho Nashville Wedding at Houston Station

July 7, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

We love when couples use a bohemian style to add softness to an industrial venue, and Sam and Joey took it one step further by also adding earthy elements to the Houston Station warehouse that hosted their wedding! With the help of the groom’s mom and sister, who own the styling company Design Muse, the couple created a greenery and floral-forward event that had all the relaxed charm of a garden wedding (but indoors!). As the cherry on top of this laid-back and earthy celebration, the bride’s crochet Rue De Seine dress was one of the most quintessentially bohemian wedding dresses we’ve ever seen. Not only did Love Hunters capture every beautifully designed detail of this wedding, but they also captured some of the sweetest candid shots during the portrait session that had us smiling from ear to ear!

My wedding dress was a Rue De Seine creation and it was the absolute PERFECT dress for me. It incapsulated my style completely and made me feel like the most beautiful girl in the world. The slip underneath the crochet lace was taupe, so that was the color that I went with for all of the bridesmaids and linens to complement! It all really came to life after I found the perfect dress.

Joey and I decided that we weren’t going to talk to text the whole day of the wedding and wanted the first time that we saw each other to be when I was walking down the aisle. Before the ceremony started, it was important for us to pray with our parents, so we held hands around a corner. I remember a rush of emotions as soon as he grabbed my hand! It was a really special moment, and I’ll never forget the way that I felt to know that he was on the other side of that wall.

I am very bohemian and we wanted the feel of the day to be laid back and easy going, because that it what our relationship feels like! My AMAZING sister-in-law and mother-in-law own an event styling business, Design Muse, and they had some beautiful tasteful and bohemian ideas for the day with the decorations. Since they know me so well, they were able to bring my ideas to life and even better than I ever expected. I am so grateful to them and everything that they did for us!

We had Joey’s pastor from when he was in high school perform the ceremony so he was able to personalize his message and our vows to fit everything that he knows about us. We also had a video of his grandfather giving us a message that he had written for us and delivered to us via technology. It was an awesome experience for us because he couldn’t travel to be there with us on the day so we wanted to bring his spirit into the ceremony. We also did communion just the two of us as a way to start our marriage by putting God at the center of it.

Our photographer, Susan, was absolutely amazing! She is able to capture the little moments that happen in a split second, which meant the world to us, because those are the moments that we wanted to remember! She was so sweet to us on the day and went with the flow to make sure we stayed relaxed and really in the moment enjoying each step.

We initially knew that we didn’t want to have the reception in a hotel because it felt too fancy, so we started searching for event spaces. When we saw Houston Station we fell in love because the atmosphere of the empty room felt exactly like something that we would want in our home! It had exposed brick and a warehouse feel, which fit into our non-traditional outlook of the day. It also had some amazing windows for natural light.
