We still haven’t picked our jaws up off the ground after seeing the DIY geometric decor these Texas cuties created for their Prospect House wedding! Between the copper heart wall hangings and the diamond origami chandelier, Laurene and Travis nailed the modern minimalist vibe they were after. With the addition of simple white and green florals from Wild Bunches Floral, they also brought a natural feel to the indoor spaces that complemented the countryside that surrounded their venue. The decor wasn’t the only thing that blew us away: the beaded back on Laurene’s Galina Signature gown was a work of art! Jeff Gilmer Photography outdid himself with this one, capturing every moment of this gorgeous Texas wedding with a unique perspective and exceptional attention to detail.

We wanted something modern and non-church like for our wedding. Prospect House has a wonderful modern aesthetic that requires little to no modification. The whole venue is thoroughly thought out to work perfectly for a wedding, down to the way the sun sets at the ceremony site. The vibe of the venue fit in perfectly with our personalities and the minimalistic yet natural vibe we were looking for.

I ended up wearing a dress I thought I would never wear! We had a whole minimalistic vibe going, and so I tried on several very clean and modern white dresses. They were absolutely gorgeous dresses, but I didn’t look or feel like a bride. The bridal consultant eventually suggested a dress I never would have picked, but it turned out to be the perfect one! The intricate beading was far from clean and modern, but it made me feel like a gorgeous sparkling bride. I accessorized it with earrings and a bracelet from a wonderful designer, Borcik, that uses natural stones in a minimalistic way. I also changed into a sleeveless white jumpsuit with a wide copper belt mid-reception so that I could get my dancing on!

The ceremony was the most memorable part of the entire day! We had a close friend serve as our officiant, and we wouldn’t have had it any other way. It became so personal for us, so much more real and important. Travis and I wrote our own vows, and we did not hear them until we were in the exact same moment on that altar together. Hearing what he had to say to me and being able to tell him how I felt, in front of everyone, was such an incredibly loving feeling.

We DIYed basically everything! The bride made copper geometric hearts for the wall decorations. These were made from wire, straws, and spray paint. They ended up looking like actual copper piping, and we were very pleased with them. She also made diamond origami garland to hang from a beautiful wind vane that is inside the venue. The wind vane moves with the breeze, so the garland flowed throughout the whole night and it was beautiful. Those were made from copper card stock paper and twine. We also DIYed photo booth props, a large timeline sign, and all the table signs and menus.

We have three pieces of advice for engaged couples: 1.) Hire a wedding planner! Even if it’s just a day-of coordinator, they are worth every penny. It is so helpful to have an extra helping hand that isn’t part of the wedding party or family. It definitely makes the whole day run smoothly. 2.) Invest in a good photographer. Good wedding photos give you a way to hold onto all the love that is shared on your wedding day. 3.) Make sure you eat!
