This Tropical Bohemian Prospect House Wedding is What Floral Dreams are Made Of

October 15, 2018 | juliette

Katie and Ethan added a tropical twist to their Prospect House wedding venue in the Texas hill country and, needless to say, it’s exactly what we needed today! Merveille Floral & Design went above and beyond in creating a tropical flower-covered wall, hanging leaf installations, and a textural bridal bouquet that looked almost too pretty to be real. The planners of Bride’s Best Friend made the entire day feel like a destination wedding in Cabo, but the distinct modern and rustic touches that added hints of Texas charm. We love that Katie channeled a beachy boho vibe with a lace, off-the-shoulder Jane Hill gown, and minimal accessories, while Ethan went for a classic Bonobos suit and vibrant tie. Everything about this Texas wedding was perfectly boho, tropical, and modern, and Jacy Hermes Photography captured it all with an impeccable attention to detail!

The Couple:

Katie and Ethan

The Wedding:

Prospect House, Dripping Springs, Texas

We wanted more of a contemporary tropical vibe because, at first, we were thinking about getting married in Cabo. We ended up wanting to get married in our home state and use Cabo as a inspiration for decor.

Knowing I wanted to incorporate more of a tropical theme, my eyes went to the dresses that were boho/traditional. I love lace but didn’t want the more traditional lace dresses. I felt like the dress I choose had a more modern lace design. I ended up adding armbands out of the same lace and that was probably my favorite part. They were detachable so I took them off during the dancing portion of the night. I also wore my dream shoes, which are the Valentino Garavani Rockstuds in nude.

The first thing that Ethan and I said when we started wedding planning was we wanted everyone to feel comfortable and have a blast! A venue that didn’t feel stuffy was huge for us. We also wanted delicious food and fun music.

Our ceremony was extremely special to us. Texas summers are hot, but we still wanted to have our ceremony outside. The weather seriously could not have been nicer! The wind picked up right when I started walking down the aisle with my dad, which brought cooler weather but also a spiritual feel. Ethan‘s dad — whom we dearly love and respect — was our officiant. He blessed us with tender and loving words from his heart and from the Bible. Having him as our officiant was a huge part of our ceremony. We also wanted to include our friends in the ceremony, so I had two lifelong friends read scripture that was special to them in their marriages.

We had the best time working with our photographer, Jacy, and her husband Dakota. They gave great direction but were so chill and very swift while taking wedding party pictures, which really appreciated. The thing that we keep on telling people months after our wedding is how much we enjoyed working with our photographer. I knew in the first few minutes in talking to Jacy I needed her as our wedding photographer. I’m so grateful it worked out!

  1. Every detail is so gorgeous! I love the inclusion of scriptures your dear friends shared during the ceremony.. Here is one that has helped me tremendously from 1 Peter 4:8, “Above all things, have intense love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins”
I wish you the very best in your beautiful marriage!

  2. Absolutely stunning! I love all of the neutral colors incorporated and certainly see all of the special touches that made it very memorable. Central Texas, especially the Hill Country, is known for it’s elegant backdrop for weddings and this one is just one-of-a-kind! Not sure what the bachelor and bachelorette parties entailed, but renting a pontoon boat on Lake Austin is another great way to take in breathtaking views of the Hill Country.
