This One Eleven East Wedding Nails the ’70s Boho Vibe

January 14, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

After Amira fell unexpectedly in love with a boho-style BHLDN wedding dress, she and Marcus ditched their plans for a ’60s mod vibe and embraced a ’70s boho style in their One Eleven East wedding. The bright and modern venue was the perfect setting for their intimate celebration, which was officiated by the bride’s father. It also required minimal decor, such as a simple macrame backdrop, potted palm trees, and framed photos, to fit the couple’s theme. We love that they used pops of color sparingly and strategically, most notably in the hand-tied bouquets created by Bricolage and on the flamingo-topped cake from Upper Crust BakeryMarisa Vasquez Photography perfectly captured every detail, every nuance, and every joyful moment of this lovely Texas wedding!

The Couple:

Amira and Marcus

The Wedding:

One Eleven East, Hutto, Texas

The most important thing was for our wedding to feel like us. We quickly realized how easy it was to get caught up with notions of how a wedding should look or flow. We did our own planning and there are a lot of “definitive guides” out there, but I realized none of the “musts” had to actually make it into our wedding if it felt forced.

I have no doubt that every bride would say the day was a blur. Honestly, the only memory where it felt like time had slowed down was when my bridesmaids had left the room to join the ceremony, just before I stepped out to walk down the aisle. It was the only moment I’d had to myself all day, and I think I had every emotion you could have about getting married in that one minute.

One Eleven East was the first venue we looked at, and we both immediately fell in love. There are a lot of great venues around Austin, but this was the first one I’ve been to that felt like it matched our personalities and taste. Besides how beautiful it is, there were also a few practical reasons why we chose this venue. For one, we had a summer wedding, and I wanted a venue where we could hold all events inside in case it was too hot outside. That’s surprisingly very hard to find around Austin.

My father is an ordained priest, so I asked him to walk me down the aisle and then perform the ceremony! We had a fairly traditional Anglican ceremony, but my dad let us customize a bit to only include the parts we felt comfortable with in sharing with our friends and family. We also did our own vows, which was all I really cared about. I also had a friend create our ceremony backdrop, which now hangs above our bed and is a daily reminder of our wedding day.

The second reason we chose One Eleven East is because we had a smaller budget and needed a space that would look beautiful without a lot of decoration. Because the venue is already minimal and beautiful, we really didn’t have to do much more than add a backdrop and decorate the bar to make the space feel complete for our wedding. We got a lot of compliments on the space, how beautiful it was, and how much natural light it got!

Our best advice is to splurge where it matters to you and make up for it where it doesn’t. We knew the venue is such an important and memorable aspect of the wedding, so we ultimately picked the one that was slightly out of our budget but perfect instead of the one under our budget that was nice but we didn’t absolutely love. No regrets!

There’s a Lot to Love in This Rustic Romantic Summerland Wedding at the Groom’s Family’s Estate

January 14, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

It’s never too early to start dreaming of backyard weddings and spring color palettes, so Lauren and Orin’s rustic Summerland wedding couldn’t have come to us at a more perfect time! The couple opted for an intimate wedding at the groom’s family estate and orchard in British Columbia, which offered plenty of space for an outdoor celebration and lovely natural backdrops for all the portraits and details shots captured by Mathias Fast Photography. The talented designers at Created Lovely Events teamed up with A New Leaf Floral Design to create a rustic-meets-modern dream wedding that featured a soft color palette, floral-forward decor, and geometric gold and wood accents. The bride even added a chic black leather jacket over her gorgeous Truvelle for a modern flare. Every detail was spot on, and now we’re even more excited for spring wedding season!

Lauren and Orin

The Wedding:

Private Estate, Summerland, British Columbia, Canada

Once we decided we were going to have an actual wedding and not elope choosing the venue was a bit of a no brainer. We knew we wanted to get married at the home that has been in Orin‘s family for generations in Summerland, BC. It’s a gorgeous old heritage home and apple orchard, built in the early 1900s. It was so wonderful to have our extended family and friends all together at this place that already has so much history for the Powell family!

One moment that sticks out it for me (Lauren) was walking down the aisle with my Dad. My Auntie Paula was playing her mandolin; we knew what she played would be beautiful, so we didn’t give her any specific song requests. As I reached the aisle she started playing “Ode to Joy” – this was the song she played on her flute many years ago, at my parent’s wedding, when my Mom and Grandpa were walking down the aisle. What a beautiful surprise! It makes me tear up just thinking about it.

We made soap for our guests! I have been making soap for the last 4 or 5 years, so it was an easy choice. One of the first time’s I visited Summerland and met Orin‘s family, his mother taught me how to make soap.

Snowy Newfoundland and Labrador Wedding at Manuels River

January 13, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

When outdoor enthusiasts Joanne and Rebecca decided to plan their wedding in just four short months, they pulled together their friends and family, as well as the artists at Lacy Rose Design, to create an unforgettable rustic winter wedding at Manuels River. The couple infused an enchanted forest vibe into their decor, which included rustic wood accents, lush greenery accented with simple florals, and tons of ambient candlelight. They also fully embraced the mountain location with a cozy photo shoot in the snow that included their wedding party bundled up in scarves, mittens, and booties. Sandra-Lee Photography could not have been a more perfect choice to capture every joyful and heartfelt moment in this beautiful winter wedding!

The Couple:

Joanne and Rebecca

The Wedding:

Manuels River, Conception Bay South, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada

We wanted our wedding to involve our friends and family. Therefore, most people involved from our officiant to our musician to our hair/make up stylists were all close friends.

Sandra-Lee was a friend of mine (Joanne) from years ago. We would attend local band shows when we were teenagers. She is now one of the most talented photographers in Newfoundland and Labrador. Her work is just amazing! It was a no brainer who we wanted to photograph our wedding. She’s truly a free spirit, very relaxed, and always there to make you laugh. She encourages her clients to just have fun on their wedding day and try and have no stress. She’s great at grabbing those candid shots of you laughing by blurting some silly thing to make you crack up. She’s awesome!

We love the outdoors. We are always exploring our province with our two chow chows. We love camping and hiking, so we wanted our vibe to be a bit of an enchanted forest feeling. Our decorator did an excellent job creating the vision we had, along with a few touches we made ourselves!
