Italian Glam Amalfi Coast Wedding at Villa Eva

September 21, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

Andrea and Jerry’s destination wedding at Villa Eva showcased the very best of the Amalfi Coast and featured a glamorous, modern twist on traditional Italian style. Planning a wedding from another country is no easy feat, but the team at The Amalfi Experience made the experience effortless and pain-free, planning everything from the couple’s intimate ceremony in Duomo di Sant’Andrea to their surprise reception with a view of the iconic Italian coast. Francesco di Bianco infused a classic feel into the floral design with a soft palette of blooms and lots of greenery that also added a fresh burst of organic elegance. The true showstopper of this event was Andrea’s lace Tara Lauren, which she styled with crystal and gold accessories, and a long champagne-colored veil, to create her own version of Old Hollywood glam. We are hopelessly in love with every moment of this Italian wedding and the way Gianni Di Natale captured it all!

The Couple:

Andrea and Jerry

The Wedding:

Duomo di Sant’Andrea and Villa Eva, Ravello, Amalfi Coast, Italy

We made sure our wedding was within our budget but also reflected us as a couple. It could have been easy to listen to what everyone wanted us to do and to get distracted by all the wonderful ideas on Instagram and Pinterest. So, we made sure that every detail was either significant to us as a couple or something that we both genuinely liked. Our goal was to have an intimate wedding with our closest family and friends and to have it feel magical, whimsical, romantic, and fun! We didn’t want our wedding to be too serious.

We planned the entire wedding with The Amalfi Experience overseas. Everything was done through emails and by looking at pictures. (We had never been to the town of Amalfi or Ravello.) So, even though we had been planning the whole day for months, the final product was beyond what we could have dreamed!

My style inspiration was the Italian culture with traditional Catholic influence. I wanted a unique dress that had an interesting lace pattern, long sleeves, and a deep V-neck. I found Tara Lauren when my best friend was trying on dresses for her wedding day, and I instantly fell in love with her Harlow dress. So, when it was my turn to go dress shopping, I immediately went to Mary Me Bridal to try it on. There was no denying it was the one! I added length to the train of the dress to create a more dramatic effect when I walked down the aisle.

We kept the reception venue a surprise for our guests and seeing the look on their faces once we arrived in Ravello at Villa Eva was one of the most memorable parts of the day. We had The Neapolitan Quintet playing live, cheerful, upbeat music as the guests walked in. Once they walked in they were welcomed by a beautiful view of the Amalfi Coast. It was magical!

I’m a novice at calligraphy, but I decided early on that I wanted to do my own place cards for the dinner table. Everyone ended up keeping their name cards because they knew that I had personally handwritten each and every one of them!

One of the most memorable parts of the wedding was a surprise that we had for the guests. Our wedding planner, Lucy, is also a fantastic jazz singer! So, I asked her if she could please surprise everyone during dinner with a song or two. She sang “At Last” in her own rendition along with the band we hired…the collaboration was perfect! We had people running back from the bathroom when they heard live singing start and everyone was so surprised to see that the voice was coming from our very own wedding planner. It was definitely a highlight of the night.

Looking to Elope in Rome? This Dreamy Rome Elopement Inspiration Is What You’ve Been Searching For

September 20, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

Bohemian charm met Italian elegance in this Rome elopement inspiration shoot created by Chiara Sciuto, and the result could not have been more captivating! Photographer Chelsea Reece captured every angle of this stunning shoot, making us feel like we were standing among the fallen leaves and pampas grass at the ceremony and dining beneath the canopy of dreamcatchers at the reception. Sartoria Florale brought a natural, moody romance to the overall look by using a mix of bare branches, cascading greenery, and rich orange blooms to add a subtle pop of color. As for the cakes, Annikka Toni created not one but three incredible confections — one handpainted grey and gold wedding cake and two personalized, gold cakes for the bride and groom. The bride’s lace Lamblanche dress and gold headpiece from Wanderlust Factory brought bohemian vibe full circle and would be the perfect non-traditional look for any romantic elopement!

The Design Eye Candy Doesn’t Quit in This Devil’s Thumb Ranch Wedding

September 20, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

Kristin and Ryan’s wedding at Devil’s Thumb Ranch might have been set in a rustic venue, but their timeless and elegant style took center stage to create an unforgettable celebration of love! The oh-so-talented planners at Calluna Events helped bring this couple’s dream wedding to life. They set up the ceremony outside, which showed off the epic Colorado mountain landscape. Then, for the reception, they used a combination of long farm tables, gold tableware, and stunning florals to elevate the rustic feel of the barn. Plum Sage Flowers created lush greenery installations above the head table and matching chair adornments for the bride and groom’s chairs to make the head table the focal point of the entire space. We love that Kristin went for a classic Theia Couture gown and Art Deco-inspired accessories, while Ryan opted for dapper midnight blue Hugo Boss suit. Every detail of this wedding was thoughtfully curated by Calluna Events, and Jill Houser Photography captured it all so perfectly!

The Couple:

Kristin and Ryan

The Wedding:

Devil’s Thumb Ranch, Tabernash, Colorado

Ryan surprised me with the sweetest love letter along with shamrock stickers. He told me to put the stickers on the bottom of my shoes for good luck but also explained how this was an old family tradition for them. It really made my day, and I loved the thoughtfulness of it.

Ryan and I are both big outdoorsy Colorado people so the mountains have always been our happy place, and we wanted a venue that would hold a lot of people! Ryan comes from a huge Irish family and we are fortunate enough to have a lot of close friends. We didn’t want to have to limit who we invited based on space — the more the merrier! Because I am from Texas and had a lot of friends coming up, we wanted it to feel like a destination wedding weekend. Plus, we loved the idea of a ranch where everyone stayed close together.

We had heard of Devil’s Thumb Ranch before and Ryan had been to a wedding there. We liked the idea that it held over 200 guests, the ceremony site overlooked the beautiful Rocky Mountains, and that it was fairly remote. It is also right outside Winter Park, which is where we both learned to ski as kids! We loved that the food and beverage were all provided onsite because it was easier not to have to bring in additional vendors. (Plus the food was great!) We also loved that our family and friends were all able to stay nearby either on the ranch or next door at the Wild Horse Inn B&B next door.

While it’s so hard to narrow down the most memorable part of such an amazing day, there was one moment during our ceremony that really moved everyone. Ryan‘s father passed away tragically in 2013 and one of my bridesmaids, Danielle, had passed away from cancer only 8 days before our wedding. As Ryan‘s Uncle Tim was speaking and mentioned our loved ones who had passed, the sun finally broke through the clouds and shined down on the ceremony. No doubt this was thanks to Ryan‘s dad and Danielle up above. It gave us all chills and really made us feel as if they were watching over us on our special day.

I loved my Devon dress from Theia Couture. It was so simple yet elegant and timeless. Because I am petite and wanted to show my shape a bit more, I added a Sara Gabriel scalloped crystal belt, which gave off some Art-Deco vibes. I also had an amazing back necklace from Sara Gabriel that added some more style to an overall very simple look.

Because the reception was in a barn, we wanted our decor to be more traditional. We had a bold head table for our bridal party and made that the focal point in the room. Our florist added greenery above the table to draw the eye to the center of the room. This enabled us to save money elsewhere as we didn’t have to go big on the other tables. It was gorgeous and really worked out well! Our flowers were a mix of rusty reds, whites, pops of blue, and green and we had accents of gold. It was the perfect combo for looking more formal yet fitting in with the mountain vibe.
