The Bride’s Galia Lahav Gown Provided the Victorian Inspiration Behind This James Burden Mansion Wedding

Xiaoran and Hua gave us all the classic Victorian vibes in their New York wedding at James Burden Mansion! The bride had always dreamed of wearing an incredible gown on her wedding day so, when she fell in love with an organza, off-the-shoulder stunner from Galia Lahav, a regal vibe was the only natural fit for the rest of the day. BLB Events brought ornate vintage decor, luxurious textiles, and eye-catching florals designed by Devon & Pinkett into perfect harmony with the grand venue, and Nine Cakes created a show-stopping hand-painted wedding cake to match the sophisticated feel. No detail was left unattended, and Nicole Ashley Photography captured it with such creativity and artistry!

I believe a lot of girls dream of wearing the most beautiful wedding gown when they marry their man. So the very first thing I did was purchase my wedding dress! The gown was a Victorian style, so I made sure the rest of the wedding had a similar style.

When I was getting ready on the wedding day, I got a bouquet from my soon-to-be husband. I asked him later why he brought me a bouquet, knowing how many flowers we had throughout the decor. He told me all the flowers at the wedding were for our family and friends, but that bouquet was just for me!

The venue was very classic and perfectly matched my gown. There was a huge door facing an arch-shaped wall art, where my husband stood, waiting for me to walk down the aisle. Before I stepped into the room, the huge door was shut, which made the ceremony feel more formal.

Our ceremony was decorated with clouds of baby’s breath, which enhanced the venue perfectly without taking away from the ornate details of the mansion. I got the design idea from a Rodarte runway show! 

I told our caterer that I wanted the food displayed to look like pieces of art, and they delivered! At the end of the evening, they had a server come out with a big candy cart, full of colorful candies for all of our guests.

The Vintage Vibes in This Mill at Yellow River Wedding Managed to Be Effortlessly Modern

When it comes to vintage charm, Brynn and Andrew’s Mill at Yellow River wedding takes the cake! Blush & Bashful Events helped give the couple’s love of vintage a modern twist that looked absolutely gorgeous inside the rustic-chic venue. JL Designs created floral arrangments in a mix of vibrant and warm oranges that added a touch of autumnal elegance to the entire look. We’re whole-heartedly obsessed with every detail of this wedding, especially the bride’s off-the-shoulder Theia Couture gown and handmade veil! From first look to the sparkler exit, photographer Katelyn Ortego truly captured the magic of this Georgia wedding!

Staying true to ourselves was the most important during planning! We didn’t want to do something just because it’s a thing people do! we wanted everything to be authentic, meaningful, and a celebration.

The most memorable part of our day was our first look before the ceremony! Spending time together alone was so special and magical we can’t imagine it any other way. 

Our advice is to start planning early because the details can really start to pile up quickly. We only had 6 months to plan our wedding, and we really didn’t start until 2 months in…oops! Also, remind yourself that the little things like silverware don’t really matter. You will forget about it the next day when you’re on your honeymoon! 

On the big day, let go of all planning stress, go with the natural flow, and enjoy every moment! (By that point, it’s out of your control anyway.) I dreamed of an outside ceremony and on the morning of I found out we had to have the ceremony inside because of the mud. I just went with it and it was still the most special day of our lives!

Lastly, do not be afraid to cut your guest list if you’re thinking about it. Small weddings are intimate and fun! We only had 115 guests and there were still a lot of people we didn’t get to say hi to.

I DIY-ed my veil! It was so much fun and it cost me $2 at JOANN! With Wendy has a great veil tutorial on youtube. I sewed it to a hair comb with tiny pleats and rounded the bottom half of the veil so that it was flowy when I walked and didn’t bunch together. I also DIY-ed a huge menu sign and welcome sign with wood from Home Depot. It was an easy way to make big statements!

Anthropologie Inspired Tennessee Wedding at Allenbrooke Farms

The bohemian vibes and neutral hues in Mary and Nick’s wedding at Allenbrooke Farms were as pretty as could be! Inspired by the warm, free-spirited aesthetic of Anthropologie and the colors of autumn, the couple used an eclectic mix of bohemian macrame and rugs alongside modern geometric accents pieces and tons of lace and mismatched vases. On top of all the pretty decor, the bride’s Olia Zavozina gown was a work of art and matched the bohemian vibe perfectly! Mary and Nick put so much love and attention into making sure every detail of their wedding felt like them, and Kartsie Photography captured it all beautifully!

I love the warm colors of fall weddings! We had ivory, greenery, navy, and all sorts of pinks and burgundy! I knew I wanted a warm “boho” vibe and Pinterest makes it so easy to visualize your colors together.

We were all about the music! We spent the whole year leading up to our wedding adding music to a playlist that we wanted to be played at our wedding. From the ceremony and cocktail hour to our dinner and reception, we wanted our guests to feel a certain way through hearing some of our absolute favorite songs.

We loved our ceremony. Our officiant made it so personal (without us having to read our own vows, that’s terrifying to me), he made us laugh and cry at the same time. It was so special to us. We also always reflect on sitting at dinner, surrounded by our closest friends and family, and feeling so loved. That moment was awesome as our favorite Dave Matthews songs played in the background.

I love lace, and all things Anthropologie BHLDN! Which is funny, because I didn’t buy anything from there. However, I definitely used those images as my inspiration for my wedding look. Nick had the guys wear navy suits and brown shoes, and I had the girls wear a neutral pink/beige color.

My mom and I slowly gathered mix and match antique flower vases from Goodwill to use in our centerpieces. And I went to all the TJ Maxx stores around Nashville and bought all of their gold geometric candle holders. That’s as close to DIY as I got!

Once you realize your budget, do your homework and think outside of the box! I had so much fun surfing the web and trying to find things I loved for the right price. I think many couples are hoping to not break the bank but still have an amazing celebration. You’d be amazed at how much cheaper things can be when you don’t do an “all inclusive” package and book your own vendors within your budget.
