Multicultural Mid-Century Inspired Wedding at Canvas Montreal

April 17, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

May and Jeyakrishna’s beautiful downtown wedding at Canvas Montreal was truly a breath of fresh air! The couple’s goal was to create a feeling of being at home, and they did that by adding so many personal touches, including mid-century furniture and decor, handmade favors, and sweet surprises for each other throughout the day. The combination of an urban downtown feel and the romance that the couple wanted for their day couldn’t have been easy to pull off, but Le Coeur Bohème made it look effortless! From the couple’s first look and coffee break before the ceremony to the bride’s surprise dance to the groom’s surprise tattoo reveal and violin performance, photographer Jay Zack Eli didn’t miss a moment of this exceptional wedding!

The Couple:

May and Jeyakrishna

The Wedding:

Canvas Montreal, Quebec, Canada

It was very important to us that our wedding represented us. At home, we have a very vintage mid-century look that we felt was important to maintain. We wanted our guests to have the same feeling as if they came to our home and celebrate our love. We also wanted to have an intimate wedding with our closest loved ones.

Our officiant, Pascale Charbonneau, gave us a memorable moment. We had the chance to personalize our rituals with what represented us. Each one of the rituals was emotional and touching. As each ritual was being performed, we felt a breeze of warm love blow through the venue from our guests.

At the reception, each guest received a brown paper bag, tagged with their name. Inside was a pot of honey attached with a honey dip and a spice bottle (that looked like a prescription bottle) of sriracha salt. We also included a heart-shaped plantable seed tag. We wanted to offer something sweet, hence the honey. The prescribed bottle represented the bride as she is a pharmacist and the sriracha salt because the groom loves spicy food. The plantable seed tag was to represent a growing love.

The bride prepared an amazing Indian choreography with the groom’s siblings without his knowledge. She was meeting the siblings during her days off and when the groom was working and performed the surprise in front of him and all the guests during the reception.

For the groom’s surprise, he got a tattoo with their initials and a heart in the middle. He revealed right after the bride’s dance. The groom also used to play violin in high school but stopped playing for 13 years. For the wedding, he decided to learn Coldplay’s “Sky Full of Stars,” and Bruno Mars’ “Marry You.”

This Trinity Tree Farm Wedding Shows How to Put a Modern Sophisticated Spin on Outdoorsy Affairs

April 16, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Becca and Devin gave classic style a modern flair in their Seattle wedding at Trinity Tree Farm! Their indoor and outdoor celebration started with a ceremony in the venue’s lush garden, backed by the prettiest greenery and rose-accented arch. Then they moved inside for a sophisticated reception in the grand, all-white lodge, which sparkled with the warm glow of twinkle lights and candles. Florists Remi + Gold created arrangements in fresh pinks and whites that looked gorgeous in both in the indoor and outdoor space and would be the perfect inspiration for any summertime wedding. From getting ready with their loved ones to cuddling in the venue’s tree farm, photographer Hannah Posey didn’t miss a beat in capturing every angle of this sophisticated and outdoorsy celebration!

Becca and Devin

The Wedding:

Trinity Tree Farm, Seattle, Washington

We wanted our wedding to reflect the two of us more than anything. We made a rule early on that there were no rules—we weren’t going to do something just because it’s what most people do. We wanted it to be simple and enjoyable, and we wanted our guests to thoroughly enjoy the entire event.

The most memorable part for us was finally having all of our friends and family together in one place. For me, not a single one of my bridesmaids live in the same state as me, so having all of them together for a whole weekend with me was truly the best! For Devin, not a single person on his invite list lives in-state, so everyone was flying in from somewhere. Getting to have everyone celebrate with us will always mean the world to us!

The biggest way we personalized our wedding was with the vendors we chose. Devin and I are lucky to have so many friends in the wedding industry. Our photographers are old friends of Devin’s. Our videographer is an old friend of mine. Our florist is one of my best friends. My makeup artist is a dear friend of mine. My cousin did my hair. A friend was our day-of coordinator, and one of our best friends was our officiant and emcee. Being surrounded by these close friends of ours was so special for us! Just knowing that our wedding was in the hands of so many people that we deeply know and trust was extra meaningful.

Working with our photographer was absolutely the easiest and most enjoyable part of our day. Hannah and her husband, Justin, are old friends of Devin’s. So having people that we were comfortable with and trust completely was very special for us. Not to mention their insanely amazing level of talent! It made the whole experience of getting our pictures taken easy and fun. I am typically awkward in front of a camera, but Hannah made everything feel so natural that I actually loved every part of it. We had also talked so much before the wedding about what we wanted, and she was very thorough in prepping us for expectations on the wedding day that I had zero worries during the wedding. I was so at peace knowing that Hannah would create lasting memories for us that we would love.

This Couple Played Up the California Desert Hues with an All-White Wedding at Wolf Feather Honey Farm

April 15, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Danae and Travis’ all-white wedding at Wolf Feather Honey Farm was total summer wedding goals! The couple took their guests out into the desert for a carefree day full of food, fun, and laughter. Their mix of bohemian textiles, rustic wooden accents, and vintage details were as whimsical as they were beautiful, and the all-white attire of everyone in attendance gave the entire event a desert chic vibe. The DeLauras were on hand to capture every moment of this unique and totally unforgettable summer wedding!

The Couple:

Danae and Travis

The Wedding:

Wolf Feather Honey Farm, Temecula, California

Planning weddings can be very stressful and put a lot of pressure on couples. So, we made a very conscious decision to not let planning our wedding take over our lives. We knew from the beginning we wanted the wedding to not only be about us but about all the people who are responsible for us having such a successful relationship!

The first look was so much more emotional and special then we expected. We had our whole bridal party watching and that moment when we got to see each other on the day we were committing our lives to one another was something I can’t put into words.

We loved the colors of all nature at the venue so instead of adding a lot of colors, we decided to have everyone wear all white (including all the guest). A lot of our guests were skeptical about wearing all white — especially because it was in the dirt. But, on the day of the wedding, everything looked amazing and everyone enjoyed it!

My biggest advice is to not care about the things that don’t matter. No one cares about the colors of the place cards or the font on the invitations. Don’t spend a lot of money on silly details just because Pinterest made them look easy. Pick the top 5 things that are important to the two of you and put more money and energy into those. For us, it was the venue, photographer, open bar, music and us looking good! We knew everything else would fall into place.
