This Southern Wedding at Sainte Terre Nailed the Bride’s Farmhouse Whimsy Style

November 27, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

Brittany and Taylor’s Louisiana wedding at Sainte Terre had all the elegance of a fairytale wedding with hints of southern farmhouse charm that made it truly remarkable. The bride knew she wanted to get married in a place where less was more but was also full of character, so when the couple found a venue that offered both a sweet little white chapel and a large modern farmhouse for the reception, they were sold! The talented venue team took care of nearly every detail, from coordination to catering, but also allowed the couple to add personal touches — such as subtle nods to Disney with a glass slipper cocktail and Beauty and the Beast inspired cake from Meg’s Silver Palate Cakery. Their wedding was airy, bright, and the perfect balance of rustic and sophisticated with farmhouse tables, luxurious linens, and eye-catching floral installations. No detail went unnoticed Andy Roberts Photography, who captured the magic of this southern fairytale wedding in every frame!

The Wedding:

Sainte Terre, Benton, Louisiana

My wedding day fashion was inspired by truly wanted an exaggerated fairytale gown with a form-fitting, sexy look for the reception. I chose an A-line skirt and cathedral-length veil for the ceremony that I traded for a Moroccan silk form-fitting gown and flower crown for the reception.

Originally, I opted out of a traditional wedding band on the wedding day due to our wedding budget (but secretly really had my eye a gorgeous rose gold miss match band early on in our engagement). Taylor blew me away by surprising me with the gorgeous band during a quiet moment between the two of us before the ceremony!

I have always been a fan of the farmhouse charm look, as well as “less is more.” Sainte Terre came with the traditional quaint white chapel tucked in the woods with the modern farmhouse charm I had always dreamed of, and I knew that was it and I had met my match!

Other than serving a few specific things at the reception, Taylor’s only request was that we write our own vows. I honestly wasn’t too keen on the idea at first thinking about reading aloud our vows in front of all our guests with wedding jitters flowing. Taylor is incredibly sweet but he isn’t usually a public display of feelings type of guy. So hearing him speak the most beautiful words over me and holding back tears at our ceremony was the most memorable part of our wedding day.

With all of the resources and wedding websites out there, it’s easy to get lost in the details. Remember, it’s only one day. Don’t sweat the small stuff! Take it all in and soak it all up. From the engagement to all the days in between to the honeymoon. It’s such a fleeting yet precious time in your life, so enjoy every single second.

If You Thought This Malibu Rocky Oaks Wedding Took Place in the Tuscan Hills, You’re Not Alone

November 26, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

Between the mountaintop views, the rustic landscape, and the old-world stone architecture, Rachel and Jake’s wedding at Malibu Rocky Oaks had us all fooled into thinking this was set in the hills of Tuscany. Even the bride thought this was Tuscany when she first saw it years before getting engaged and knew it would be the perfect place to create an elegant wedding that was still intimate and cozy. Best of all, Rachel and Jake managed to keep this stunning location a complete surprise for their guests, who had no idea until they arrived that they were in for a grand, Italian-esque day in the middle of Malibu. We love that the couple channeled classically romantic style in every aspect of their decor and personal looks, but especially Rachel who wore an off-the-shoulder lace gown by Lian Rokman with a long train and veil. With so many unbelievable moments happening, we are forever grateful that Christy Kendall Photography was there to capture it all!

The Wedding:

Malibu Rocky Oaks, Malibu, California

We wanted to keep most of the wedding a surprise so none of our guests knew the location. We loved that it was a surprise for them, and it also meant there were zero expectations! Our wedding day was all about bringing the people we loved the most in the world — from all over the world — together to celebrate our love. We wanted it to feel grand but cozy and intimate.

One of the best and most memorable parts of our ceremony was that, when Jake walked down the aisle, he took a moment to stop at each row and acknowledge everyone (with just a pause and eye contact) to let them know how much he appreciated them being there. We also had our dear friend — who was the founder of a self-development training course in LA — officiate the ceremony. She is an incredible lady who we love dearly and whose program we had both taken individually. We both admit that, if we hadn’t taken her course, we would not have been standing there that day.

We were very blessed in that Jake‘s incredible artist who he manages, Emmitt Fenn, wrote an entirely original classical score for our wedding ceremony. It was his interpretation of both of us, which our string quartet was able to learn and play at the wedding. Both of us broke down in tears the first time we heard the music and are forever grateful to Emmitt!

I love neutral colors as they are so classic and elegant. Our color palette was Ivory, light grey and blush which blended beautifully into the backdrop of the venue. I am blessed with a brother who is a very talented graphic designer, so he and I designed the wedding invites, menus, and programs ourselves. I even handled all the printing myself with a local printer.  Also, my amazing mother hand-tied 200 gold ribbons around each invite!

On our wedding invitations, we had just written “Malibu CA (venue to be announced the morning of the wedding.” Three days before the wedding, we sent an email to all the guests with instructions to meet at the Four Seasons Westlake (a hotel 10 mins from the venue). We arranged for them all to be picked up there and taken to the venue through the mountains. It was so very special!

We also had surprise performances including our first dance, sang by 12-year-old Angelina Jordan from Norway (who won Norway’s Got Talent). She has one of the most incredible voices and she sang “Fly Me to the Moon,” which had all the guests in tears.

Minimalist Glam Garden Wedding at Madsen’s Greenhouse

November 25, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

When Samantha and Chantal went looking for a venue that allowed them to be close to nature, felt airy and intimate, and had a distinctly whimsical vibe, they knew Madsen’s Greenhouse was the one from the very first peek through the windows! Because of the lush, secret-garden feel of the space, the brides’ minimalist and modern decor were the perfect finishing touches to bring a personal touch while allowing the venue to still feel airy and bright. Room to Bloom kept the floral palette crisp with white flowers and loads of greenery, and Artsy Baker filled a donut wall and dessert table with treats that would satisfy even the biggest sweet tooth! From Samantha and Chantal’s romantic newlywed portraits to all the squad-goal wedding party photos, Bows & Lavender nailed capturing every moment of this unforgettable greenhouse wedding!

The Couple:

Samantha and Chantal

The Wedding:

Madsen’s Greenhouse, Newmarket, Ontario

It was important for us to stay true to ourselves. When it comes to planning your day you can get so consumed into what everyone else is doing that you forget what things are special to you. It was important for us to find a venue that felt like us and to just simply enjoy, enjoy the presence of the people we love most, enjoy the moment and enjoy each other.

We searched a long time for our venue. All of the places we were visiting just didn’t feel like us. We wanted it to be light, airy, intimate, natural and whimsical and we had this idea in our head but couldn’t seem to find it. One day we came across a venue 20 minutes from our hometown, a place we had not even heard of before called Madsen’s Greenhouse. It was the middle of winter and the owners were away for the next couple of weeks but there was only 1 Saturday left for the following summer, we ended up booking over the phone having just looked through the window, just seeing that alone we knew it was our vibe.

Just do you and forget about all of the noise. When you finally get to your day take little moments to take it all in because it goes by so fast. Our photographers snuck us away a few times throughout the night and I didn’t ever realize how much that meant at the moment but I now know it gave us a minute to just absorb the day.

Our photographers were Jessy and Brandon from Bows & Lavender. First, they’re married to each other and are couple goals! They are probably two of the coolest people we know! They are friends of ours from our hometown and we knew we had to have them. Not only are they insanely talented, they have the most incredible aura to them. They both light up a room as soon as they walk into it and they are always in the right place at the right time. Most of the time we didn’t even know they were taking photos, so we were totally surprised when we got our pictures back they had captured moments that we didn’t even know happened. They also were so amazing at letting us enjoy our time but also taking us away for breaks in times we didn’t even know we needed them. I am most grateful that they helped us and encouraged us to take those moments to reflect throughout the day.
