Ever wondered if an Airbnb elopement is right for you? Well, Karra Leigh Photography is proving that you can have a wedding literally anywhere — and with very little fuss — in this wonderfully unique styled shoot at Ramble Retreat! With nothing more than a fireplace floral installation and a sweetheart table filled with ceramics and pretty place settings, the team created a cozy at-home elopement that was equal parts minimalist and organic. The soft palette used in the florals designed by Hazel Ave Floral, the bold stationery created by Seek Paper Co., and the bride’s chic gown and cape from Lovely Bride Denver were goals for anyone looking for modern wedding inspiration.
It may not even be summer yet, but we’re obsessing over the autumnal feel of Hannah and James’ Virginia wedding at The Market at Grelen! Even with a rainstorm that forced the ceremony from the outdoor vista into the greenhouse, everything about this day was magical. Urban Flora embraced the couple’s bohemian vibe with organic and textural arrangements in the prettiest fall palette, which looked stunning alongside the handmade ceremony arbor, agate slice place cards, and macrame details. Brousseau Events went above and beyond putting all the elements of Hannah and James’ boho-chic wedding together, and Alex Mari Photography could not have captured it all more perfectly!
I wanted our wedding to be uniquely us, a joyous celebration of marriage, and for it to be God-glorifying. It was super important for me to make it OUR wedding, not a cookie cutter wedding you’d see on Pinterest. Trends come and go, but what you love, what speaks to you and your relationship doesn’t.
The most memorable part for me was seeing my husband break down in tears as I walked down the aisle. This is also one of my favorite photos! We did a first look and he had already cried during that, but the emotion of that moment was so great in a small greenhouse with rain pouring down, surrounded by all of our closest family and friends. It is something I will never forget.
We did a worship song, “How Great is Your Love” by Phil Wickham, at the beginning of the ceremony and a foot-washing ceremony as our first act as a married couple. This signified how, in marriage, we will aim to humbly serve each other each day, just as Christ did for us.
As a wedding photographer myself, it was hard to choose a wedding vibe because I had been to so many weddings and loved so many different things. However, I had always loved all things bohemian so we went for a natural bohemian aesthetic and I incorporated just random things that I loved along the way.
In terms of DIY projects: My husband spent days making our arbor; my mom made our cake; and I made our agate slice table numbers, as well as the welcome banner and the macrame seating chart!
Our best advice is to book your wedding photographer and videographer right away and invest in those areas! I never knew how much I would truly cherish my wedding photos and video until now. It was the best day of our lives, with our favorite people who flew from all over the world to be with us, and our pictures and video are all the most precious moments that we get to live over and over again.
We had our friends who own a donut truck, Dawn + Dusk Donuts, come and give out fresh gourmet donuts for dessert, and it was such a fun touch! Even though it was pouring down rain, people still ventured out to get them with umbrellas — and people are still raving about them 5 months later!
If casual backyard weddings are your vibe, then get ready to fall head over heels for Avalon and Gunnar’s Loloma Lodge wedding! AE Creative helped the couple create the coziest day in the woods, complete with picnic tables, bunting, wildflowers designed by Hey You Flowers, and campy details. Avalon fully embraced the woodsy feel with a forest-fairy-inspired ballgown and romantic accessories, while Gunnar opted for a retro brown and yellow tweed suit that perfectly matched their ’70s vibe. Victoria Carlson Photography truly captured the relaxed, backyard feel of this Oregon wedding!
We really focused on making sure every detail was what we both wanted and we stayed stress-free! Our family and our vendors were so amazing that I don’t know if we felt stressed once during the entire process.
We had our officiant and great friend, John, write everything. He was amazing at capturing our love and silliness in an easy, short, and sweet ceremony. We both wrote our own vows, as well! Gunnar had my engagement ring engraved with the date we met and I (secretly) had his engraved saying “Harvest Moon,” which was our first dance song.
During the reception, sitting amongst everyone and feeling so loved was the most memorable part of the day! It somehow felt like we were in our own world but still surrounded by everything and everyone.
