Minimalist Elegant South Congress Hotel Wedding in Austin, Texas

October 2, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

When it comes to minimal elegance, Lindsay and Stuart’s South Congress Hotel wedding beautifully fits the bill! The couple wanted a day that felt timeless—and from gorgeous floral creations by Verbena Floral Design to a dessert table that has us Postmates-ing from the nearest donut shop—we think they pulled it off beautifully. Lindsay wore a sophisticated Badgley Mischka wedding dress and paired it with simple, Anton Heunis jewelry. Fun fact: Aside from looking flawless on her wedding day, Lindsay also DIY’d much of the decor, like the ceremony program fans, and loved it so much that she started Southern Social Co.. We’re feeling thankful the talented Jeff Brummett Visuals was there to capture every detail and emotion-filled moment!

The Couple:

Lindsay & Stuart

The Wedding:

South Congress Hotel, Austin, Texas

While we were getting ready, my bridesmaids presented me with a glass box filled with gem stones they had each picked out to represented the energy they wished to bestow on Stuart’s and my new adventure together. As they went around explaining their stone, their choices really reflected their unique personalities, so for me it’s a wonderful reminder of why I love them and am so blessed to have each of them in my life. It truly was the most meaningful, heartfelt gift.

There were so many memorable moments throughout the day, but our first look was definitely a highlight. Leading up to the wedding, we had talked about how the only thing we were both nervous about was being the center of attention all day long. Having that quiet moment to ourselves, taking each other in as husband and wife without the all the eyes on us was so special.

I DIYed literally everything I could and I’m so proud of how everything turned out! From our custom wedding website that included a ‘Welcome to Austin’ travel guide for our out-of-town guests, to all the signage and printed materials, including our invitations, program fans (a MUST in 90+ degree Austin weather!), menus, seating chart, table numbers and place cards. I actually loved designing everything so much that I started a business, Southern Social Co.!

We planned the wedding ourselves in less than 6 months, including creating all of the decor and design details. Our biggest advice (especially to DIY-ers) is to take people up on it when they offer to help! So many friends stepped in to help print the addresses on envelopes for our invitations, to assemble the blueberry pancake mix favors, to glue the program fans together… the list goes on! I couldn’t have done it all without their help.

Alex of XO Moreau was incredible to have as our Day-of Coordinator! She was instrumental in organizing all our vendors prior to the wedding and was an absolute godsend the day of- she even swooped in to save the day when my bustle broke right before our first dance and tied a napkin in place of the garter when I realized I’d left it in the hotel room! Also, she’s just COOL, so COOL! Highly recommended!

This Primland Resort Wedding Brought Glamour and Gold to the Blue Ridge Mountains

October 1, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Kathyrn and Charles’ Primland Resort wedding brought opulence and luxury together with the rustic, outdoor vibes of the Blue Ridge Mountains! Bride Katheryn brought all the glam with a custom, gold Vera Wang gown, matching veil, and Gucci platform shoes. Fun fact: The wedding decor was all inspired by Kathryn’s look! Caroline LaRocca Event Design did a phenomenal job creating a ceremony site straight out of a fairytale. We’re loving the lush, white florals, acrylic chairs, and cozy seating area. We can’t wait for you to see how Michelle Elyse Photography captured all of this and more from Kathryn and Charles’ Primland Resort wedding!

The Couple:

Kathryn & Charles

The Wedding:

Primland Resort, Meadows of Dan, Virginia

After originally planning a very large wedding, we realized how easy it is to lose track of what the day is actually about. It ended up being very important to us that we have an intimate wedding with our closest family members present. It wasn’t until I found my wedding gown and venue that I began envisioning the actual style and design that I wanted for our wedding. I felt like a princess in my dress and drew off of the gold and lace, along with the beautiful venue scenery to develop my vision of a fairy tale wedding. Our event designer did a wonderful job at delivering that vision, and we felt surrounded by our family and of course many beautiful flowers!

We went with white flowers and greenery, envisioning that these colors would tie in perfectly with the beautiful backdrop of the venue. I knew I wanted flowers everywhere but not any distracting colors. I also chose to have gold incorporated into the design, as I loved the gold and lace in my wedding gown.

My advice when planning a wedding is not to rush on choosing a venue. I felt that we needed to choose a venue right away, and the one that we originally chose turned out to be the wrong decision. I wish we took more time thinking about what we really envisioned for our wedding before feeling the pressure of needing to lock down the perfect calendar date. It wasn’t until after we made the deposit and started planning that we realized we wanted a much more intimate wedding with a scenic view. We cancelled the original venue and took much longer before deciding on the perfect venue that we ended up having our wedding at.

The most memorable part of our wedding day was after the ceremony when we were alone with the photographer and videographer having our photos taken. It felt like a dream just being married to the love of your life, thousands of feet up on the side of a mountain with the most beautiful view. We couldn’t stop looking at each other and saying “we’re married!”. We were so consumed with happiness that we barely noticed when it began pouring rain.

Michelle Hartman was such an amazing photographer! Not only did she do amazing work, but she made us feel so comfortable and was so fun to work with. My family loved her so much that my sister hired her as her photographer for her wedding this June.
