Romantic Rosy and Rust Pennsylvania Wedding Inspiration at Anselma Mill

July 13, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

This Pennsylvania styled shoot at Anselma Mill had rustic boho vibes for days, and to say we’re obsessed would be an understatement! The 18th-century mill was the ideal backdrop for Love Haus Events to create the perfectly curated shoot, which featured an orange, champagne, ivory, and turquoise palette. The team used protea and rose bouquets designed by Fabu Floras, copper table details, wicker furniture, and luxe pink linens to create the look, and added a stunning lace wedding gown Reclamation Design Company and turquoise suit. We are forever grateful to MLE Pictures for capturing this styled shoot so brilliantly!

This Frankfort, Kentucky Wedding Looks Like a European Fairy Tale Thanks to the Gorgeous Castle & Key Distillery

July 13, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Natalie and Jason’s wedding day at Castle & Key Distillery was essentially an enchanting fairytale in the middle of Kentucky! The award-winning gardens, onsite castle, and distillery were not only gorgeous backdrops, but they set the tone for the entire celebration. Everything felt old-world but with a modern, romantic twist! The floral arrangements designed by Wild Roots Farmer Florist were whimsical and natural and the elegant details White Cat Weddings & Events rounded out the enchanted look. The show-stopping moment of the day, though, happened during the couple’s first look, during which the groom surprised the bride with a musical twist on the classic love note reading. Our hearts can hardly take all the sweetness Sarah E Dunn Photo and Design captured throughout this entire day!

The Couple:

Natalie and Jason

The Wedding:

Castle & Key Distillery, Frankfort, Kentucky

We were planning on writing each other letters to read before the first look. Little did I know that Jason had actually written me an original song. At the first look, before the big reveal, I was surprised to hear his guitar. When he started to sing, I burst into tears! Jason also promised to write me a new song for every anniversary.

Our wedding vibe was enchanted garden. We knew that was our theme when we toured venues and Castle & Key naturally embodied that vibe. They have award-winning gardens, a sprawling nature trail for guests to explore, and a historic castle. We also wanted our wedding to have a local Kentucky theme. From the historic bourbon distillery set among horse farms to the Ale-8 and Kentucky mules served at the reception, we wanted our guests to get a taste of the state we love so much!

We loved every minute of working with our photographer. We actually met our wedding photographer while working with her on a styled shoot, which turned into a surprise engagement (for the bride). We had worked with Sarah on several occasions since then, and we always knew we wanted her to photograph our special day. She has a natural talent for helping couples relax while they are in front of the lens, finding creative locations and scenes to shoot, and taking care of her clients. Sarah was able to capture all of the special moments of our big day without interrupting those moments!

The most important thing to us while planning our wedding was the guests’ experience. We really wanted to make sure that our friends and family had a great time celebrating with us and that it was more than just an event.

Although there is a lot to get done while planning a wedding, try not to get too stressed out and enjoy the process with one another. We had so much fun touring venues, talking about our options, and dreaming up the day together. There were definitely a lot of spreadsheets and late nights but planning the wedding can be enjoyable. Just have fun with it!

This Whimsical Colorado Farm Wedding Pulled Inspiration from Southwest Sunsets

July 12, 2019 | Junebug Weddings

Margaret and Scott’s vision for their Colorado farm wedding was to create a whimsical dreamscape that existed only for their special day. Using teepees, succulents, and all the bohemian details possible, they transformed the natural farm space into a destination that was a little chic, a little southwest, and a whole lot of home-grown! From ceremony to reception, this wedding day was full of sentimental moments, including a song performed by the wedding party and sunset portraits captured by Amy Bluestar Photography. To tie in the boho feel of the day, Margaret wore a stunning Rue De Seine and floral crown while Scott went folksy with a mauve suit and bolo tie.

The Couple:

Margaret and Scott

The Wedding:

Sacred Song Farm, Mancos, Colorado

We had one of our dear friends officiate our ceremony. He gave each of us a questionnaire to fill out about one another. He took our answers and wove them into a beautiful and truly unique ceremony, including personalized vows. We also have an incredibly talented group of friends and family that made up our wedding party. They performed an amazing rendition of “Into the Mystic” that was truly unforgettable.

For part of our wedding ceremony, we planned to plant a Russian Sage bush together out on our land. We seriously underestimated the hardness of the soil, and poor Scott was trying as hard as he could to dig the hole. It ended up being an absolute failure. Hardly anyone noticed, but we were cracking up and without thinking, gave each other a smooch!

We have three pieces of advice for other couples. First, let go the of the notion of “should.” Don’t get caught up in thinking “we should,” or “it’s supposed to be like…” It’s your day! Make it exactly the way you want without feeling the need to meet anyone’s expectations but your own. Second, don’t panic when things don’t go as expected. Third, people don’t notice nearly as much as you think they do if something goes wrong. They’re just there to celebrate you, dance, and have fun!

Honestly, I based my dress decision off of where I was in life. My criteria were 1.) it needed to be comfortable, and 2.) I needed to be able to breastfeed our (at the time 8-month-old) daughter. Those things really helped me narrow down my options. I’ve always loved the bohemian vibe of Rue de Seine gowns and knew from the start that it was the designer for me. I chose a lace wrap around gown with flowy long sleeves called “Wild Harlow.” My favorite thing about it was how comfortable I was in it while looking so fabulous and feminine.
