Samantha Donaldson Photography and The Event Refinery planned this modern bohemian New Zealand beach wedding inspiration shoot with the free-spirited couple in mind. With warm, natural tones and stylish elements—like the bride’s Heartbeat Bridal hat and flow-y Samantha Stokes gown—we love how effortless this day seems. If you’ve been searching for a dreamy beach-side to say your “I do’s” this shoot will surely give you a jolt of creativity and inspiration!

Celestial-Inspired Wedding in Joshua Tree, California

January 23, 2020 | Junebug Weddings

Krista and Ethan’s celestial-inspired wedding didn’t skip on any detail. They even chose their wedding date, September 14th, because there was a full moon that night! Sarah May Designs helped the couple dream up a day written in the stars. The reception decor was simple, yet perfect, with shades of blue for the linens and illuminated by the most magnificent Moroccan star lights. Plus, we hear the gluten-free cake baked by Over The Rainbow was simply to-die-for! We can’t wait for you to see every photo Alyssa Marie Evans Photography captured of this magical day — from the perfect California sun beaming down on their reception to dancing the night away under stars in the moonlight.

Wedding planning advice from the bride: Take your time, make it unique to you, and enjoy every minute of it!

We asked two of our friends to play instruments for the processional and recessional, which was really special. they are really talented! After we read our vows, we also had a wine box ceremony where we put letters and a bottle of wine into this personalized box. We plan to open the box, read the letters, and enjoy the wine together on our 5 year anniversary.

We had an awesome Taco Truck (Soho Taco) come and serve us dinner, but the real star of the show was our wedding cake. When we came to Joshua Tree for the first time 6 years ago, we had a piece cake for dessert at this restaurant and we have not stopped talking about it since. So when we decided to get married out here, we just HAD to get that cake (Over the Rainbow Desserts). Our guests finally understood why we were so crazy about this cake.

My two close friends sang the song that I walked down the aisle to and it was everything I could have ever dreamed of. My husband and I also washed each others feet and had a time of worship. That was truly special.

My photographer was a DREAM. She was the perfect combination of sassy, hardworking, professional, fun, and hilarious. She ran a tight ship, and that’s exactly what I needed. I loved her so much, and she captured the most beautiful moments.

When I tried on my dress at Grace Loves Lace, there was pampas grass and dried flowers everywhere. It was so elegant, whimsical, and simple. I loved it! I wanted to bring that same vibe on my special day.
