Cozy 1920s Winter NYC Wedding Inspiration at The Foundry

January 9, 2020 | Junebug Weddings

It’s officially the roaring ’20s and we’re celebrating with 1920s winter NYC wedding inspiration! The Big Fake Wedding NYC couldn’t have picked a better venue for the festivities than The Foundry, a renovated 19th-century industrial building overlooking the Manhattan skyline. The Big Fake Wedding curated a team of New York’s best wedding professionals to craft a vintage winter NYC wedding full of inspiration!

New York-based florists and event designers Flower Clvb, Ember Floral Co., Whisper and Brook Flower Co., and Botanique, produced a lush and glamorous display, each designer putting their own spin on the wintry styling. We’re particularly obsessed with the ceremony setup by Botanique, who contrasted traditionally cozy decor like evergreen and faux fur with trendy elements including disco balls and pampas grass. Every detail, from the bride’s stunning lace-sleeved Schone Bride ball gown to the Long Island Cuban Cigars + Bourbon Experience, was effortlessly captured by Requiem Images, By Veronica Photography, Laura Diliberto Photography.

Not familiar with Big Fake Wedding? This bridal show alternative brings together wedding vendors in cities across the country to throw a big, fake wedding to show off their skills – and you’re invited! Check out the schedule of upcoming events for the rest of the year and scroll on to get inspired by the The Big Fake Wedding NYC‘s take on a winter NYC wedding at The Foundry.

Floral Australian Wedding at Evanslea with a Dose of Quirk

January 9, 2020 | Junebug Weddings

We are simply smitten with every little detail of Ash and Tim’s quirky and floral-filled wedding at Evanslea! If you love flowers of all kinds, you’re going to swoon over these botanical-print bridesmaids dresses, matching groomsmen bow ties, and the actual floral masterpieces Sydney Flower Markets created for this stunning day. Tim’s guys were not only dressed to impress, but also provided the ceremony music, which made for some awesome photos by Fox & Kin. Hint: Make sure to scroll and see Ash and Tim’s creative “just married” photos. If you’re into minimalist fashion and Spring-inspired design, this sweet Australian wedding day is for you!

The Couple:

Ash & Tim

The Wedding:

Evanslea, Mudgee, New South Wales, Australia

SHOP THIS LOOK:

We ‘DIY’d’ our own music for the ceremony – with the groomsmen all being musicians.

Our photographer, Nic, from Fox & Kin is amazingly talented, quirky, funny and professional!

The most memorable part of our day was the speeches made by our nearest and dearest — groomsmen, matron of honour, dads, mother of the groom. They were all very entertaining and very personal, and it was incredible to have everyone share a few laughs together.

The Wedding Team:

Photography – Fox & Kin
Event Planning – Domayn Events
Wedding Venue – Evanslea
Floral Design – Sydney Flower Markets
Officiant – Tie the Knot Mudgee
Live Music – The Legless Pedestrians
Videography – Mountain Folk Films
Wedding Dress – Camilla and Marc
Bridal Earrings – Christie Nicolaïtes
Bridesmaids’ Apparel – Auguste the Label, ASOS, Mombasa Rose
Groom & Groomsmen’s Apparel – Politix Menswear
Rings – Mondial by Nadia Neuman

Many congratulations to Ash and Tim! We’re thankful Fox & Kin shared their day with us! For more Springtime wedding vibes, be sure to check out this DIY butterfly-inspired White Sparrow Barn wedding.

2020 Wedding Trends to Obsess Over This Year

January 8, 2020 | Junebug Weddings

If there ever was a good year to get married — 2020 is the one! We’re kicking off a new decade, after all. According to our insider scoop, couples tying the knot this year are ahead of the game and planning their special days with zest. We’ve also been chatting with industry pros who are preparing to influence the 2020 wedding design aesthetic with fresh, never-before-seen ideas! Needless to say, we’re pretty stoked.

With so many 2020 wedding trends to obsesses over this year, these are the ones we’re most excited about seeing come to life in unique ways:

  • Sustainability
  • Colorblocking
  • Western flair
  • Animal print accessories
  • Festival-inspired glitter
  • All white everything
  • Dried flowers
  • 80s-inspired fashion

What 2020 wedding trends are you most looking forward to this year? Remember: We want to see your wedding! Follow this link to submit for a chance to be featured on Junebug Weddings.

Sustainability and Eco-Conscious Materials

We’ve felt this one coming for awhile now, but at the end of 2019 it was clear no-waste wedding initiatives were top-of-mind for couples and planners alike. In the new year, we expect to see a surge in sustainable materials like natural wood, un-dyed yarns, recycled textiles, compostable dinnerware, more plants than flowers, and re-useable everything!

Colorblocking

Strong geometric forms are taking center stage this year — and not in a subtle way! We’re ecstatic to see colorblocking making a comeback in wedding decor, invitations, ceremony backdrops, and more. This isn’t your mother’s colorblocking, though. Expect to see this done with class and fun interpretations of natural, earthy and jewel toned colors.

Western Flair

Western-inspired fashion is in — and we’re here for it. Whether you’re adding a subtle touch of mid-west flair or going all out west, this trend will not disappoint! Pro tip: Ask your guests to add a western touch to their outfits to have them join in on the themed fun.

Animal Print Accessories

Please, give us all the animal print accessories! Pro tip: Throwing on a bold jacket, headpiece, or pair of boots is the easiest way to change up your bridal look in a way that will totally pop in photos. We’re excited to see all different faux animal prints—from cheetah to tiger or snake.

Festival-Inspired Glitter

Looking for a way to bring out your fun, glamorous side? The festival-inspired glitter trend is your excuse! We can’t wait to see how 2020 brides will sparkle up their look with festival glitter. If you’re nervous to commit to this for your entire day, consider having a glitter bar at your reception. That way, the guests can get in on the fun, too!

All White Color Palettes

You’re probably used to seeing white at weddings, but this year it won’t just be reserved for the bride and background elements. Off-whites, earthy grays, tactile beiges will have a major moment this year. With a neutral color palette that gives off all the authentic vibes, and we’re loving how this trend can so effortlessly be merged with the other “2020 trends to obsess” over.

Dried Florals

Dried flowers are here to stay, babes! There are many benefits to using dried flowers for your wedding, including:

  • Less of an impact on your budget
  • They won’t die! You can keep them forever
  • The perfect touch for those earthy, boho vibes
  • Can be shipped can delivered before your big day
