Romantic San Miguel de Allende Wedding at Casa Aurora

November 10, 2020 | riley

Mariachis, colorful parades down cobblestone streets, and sleek bridal fashion stole the show during Morgan and Nick’s San Miguel de Allende wedding at Casa Aurora. After settling on a destination wedding, the two began the planning process with the help of San Miguel Weddings. Their ceremony also featured a flower-lined aisle, colorful floral arrangements, and a historic home backdrop. After the two tied the knot, they paraded down the cobblestone streets with donkeys, tequila shots, and mariachis.

Morgan surprised everyone at the reception at Terraza Trinitate by showing up in a second, sleek and modern gown and a brand new haircut–talk about one heck of a wedding surprise. They finished the night off with lots of dancing, mezcal, and tacos, which has us wishing we had gotten the invite! Junebug member–and the couple’s photographer–Mariana Pierce perfectly described the aesthetic of the day:

Mariana Pierce On The Day

Morgan and Nick chose San Miguel de Allende, the infamous tiny town in Mexico’s heartland, to get married. They had their ceremony at Casa Aurora, a colonial house with a beautiful garden. Morgan wore a romantic lace dress to match the 200-year-old home’s look for the first part of her day, while her mismatched bridesmaids wore blush. The groomsmen wore matching walnut suits.

After the ceremony, the two celebrated with traditional festive “Callejoneada” with donkeys, tequila, and mariachis. But, there was a surprise rain shower and they ended up running and laughing with all of their guests in a race to their reception venue–Terraza Trinitate—a pottery and tableware factory—located right behind the city’s landmark Parroquia “pink church.”

There Morgan changed into her second dress–a sleek and sexy gown with boots–and surprised everyone with a new look and new haircut!  They partied the night away with music and mezcal and ended it with tacos!

Simple Decor at Casa Aurora

San Miguel de Allende is such a special city with its own very distinct aesthetic, so we wanted something that would compliment the surroundings. We went with a mixture of neutral colors as well as burnt oranges and reds. You don’t need a lot of decor when your backdrop is a beautiful cathedral.

An Outfit Change And A Haircut

I had two dresses. The ceremony dress was much more of a classic bridal look with lace to match the historic venue. Then I switched into a much more comfortable satin dress with boots. I didn’t want to be fussing around with my dress while dancing. I also chopped off about a foot of hair between the ceremony and reception, which was super fun.

Wedding Advice From The Bride

Leave room for the unexpected. Because we had a remote wedding, I was prepared for anything to go wrong. Also, trust the people you’ve hired to help you. Everyone we worked with was so professional and took the stress off my shoulders, which allowed me and my husband to enjoy our day.

This Magical Full Moon Wedding at Locust Hall Is Truly Bewitching

November 9, 2020 | riley

Pri and Reggie’s full moon wedding at Locust Hall is proof that parents usually know best. After the couple’s parents spotted the venue, they knew it was the perfect place to tie the knot. The couple said “I do” in a ceremony that featured sweeping countryside views, a unity candle lighting, and a stunning wooden arch with florals put together by A Garden Party

They followed up their rustic yet elegant ceremony with a photo shoot in the sunflower fields, a reception full of dancing and lawn games, and a last-minute portrait under the moon’s light–all of which photographer Katy Weaver captured beautifully. Keep scrolling to see all of the magical details, and be prepared to be bewitched.

Natural Wedding Vibes At This Full Moon Wedding

We wanted the feeling to be as if we went foraging in the woods for wedding decor–moss, rough stones, and more foliage–very natural and organic. Our wedding was on a full moon, so there was definitely a magical vibe with all the crystals. We wanted it to feel very ritualistic because marriage is one of our society’s oldest rituals.

Why Locust Hall

It was our parents that made the final call to go with Locust Hall. We had been running around all day visiting different venues, and the moment we turned onto the long driveway flanked by sunflower fields on either side, both our parents were like, “sold! Check, please!” I have to say they made a great call. What I loved most about getting married at Locust Hall was the progression through the different spaces on the property. It really gave the wedding a feeling of momentum and energy. There is also so much natural and scenic beauty that it didn’t need much decorating and our guests had a great time wandering around the property, petting goats, and whatnot.

Wedding Advice From The Bride

Don’t sweat the small details. On the day of, you will be so caught up in the energy of everything that you will 100% not notice the napkin rings or the menu cards. Try to focus on the experiences you and your guests will have. Whenever we reminisce with friends and family, it’s always about the speeches, our newlywed game, the dancing, and playing late-night lawn games–not the decor.

A Favorite Celestial Photo

Our favorite photo of the night was the one of us under the full moon. The weather that day was supposed to be cloudy, so we weren’t sure if we’d be able to get the shot. But, Katy was determined to give us the shot we dreamed of, so she had guests keep a lookout for the moon. It seemed like it wasn’t going to happen. The night was almost over when suddenly Katy grabbed us and told us to run out to the field, so we literally sprinted to get in front of the moon before it disappeared again. We were both sweaty and out of breath, and Katy got down on the ground on her stomach. It was a real team effort, but the end picture was perfect.

Puerto Rico Destination Wedding at Hacienda Siesta Alegre

November 8, 2020 | riley

With family all over the Caribbean, Elena and Wesley knew they would have a boho wedding with a backyard vibe in Puerto Rico. After settling on Hacienda Siesta Alegre–without ever seeing it in person–the couple’s dream day came to fruition thanks to planner Rosalina Momentus. With lush palms surrounding the venue, the pair opted to keep the decor simple with light pink drapery, soft blush floral arrangements put together by Jat Lozano, and Chinese lanterns floating in the night sky.

Although we would love to describe everything we love about this wedding, we think that the couple’s photographer–and Junebug member–Melody Joy Co. described the day beautifully.

Melody Joy Co. On The Details of The Day

Hacienda Siesta Alegre has stunning views of the El Yunque rainforest mountain range. There were so many beautiful corners in the hacienda, including arched doorways and French window panes on a corner, where the couple read their vows.

They had so many unique details, like a cigar bar where handmade cigars were made and given to the guests. The outdoor reception consisted of beautifully decorated farm tables that surrounded a courtyard with a fountain in the center. The courtyard was lit by string lights that set the mood for both the reception and, later, an epic dance floor.

Elena and Wes surprised their guests by having Plena music played by the local group, Yuvi Plena! They had the crowd doing a dance train around the entire venue–a perfect complement to the evening, tying in a bit of Puerto Rican tradition for the guests with an exciting twist. They ended the night surrounded by sparklers and their loved ones!

The Wedding:

Sharing Private Vows

The most memorable part of the day was exchanging our vows privately to one another before the ceremony. It was so intimate, and we were happy to have a brief moment before the festivities to share our love and commitment to one another.

Why Hacienda Siesta Alegre

Our venue was a reflection of our culture and styles. Wesley is Cuban and my family is from Puerto Rico, so I knew that’s where we would have our wedding. We weren’t interested in having a beach wedding—instead, we wanted to get married at a house or a Hacienda. When we were searching, we found Hacienda Siesta Alegre and knew it was the one. We put down a deposit before seeing it in person to secure the date. When we flew down to Puerto Rico we scheduled a site visit and were absolutely blown away with the beauty of this place.

Wedding Advice From The Bride

Talk to other brides! They may have resources or decor from their wedding to spare. Also, some details will be forgotten and not everything will go as planned. That’s okay! Try to be present in the moment and enjoy the celebration.
