I’ve had two wildly different but equally wonderful save-the-date and wedding videos come across my desk recently, and I just HAD to share them both. And while they are completely different in style and scale, they both feature true love as the main character, two lives joining together as the main plot, and all kinds of excitement along the way!
The first, a save the date video, is a true labor of love and features one couple’s amazingly complimentary skills. Soon-to-be-bride Brandy said, “My fiance Tim is a graphic designer and I am in communications. We met five years ago on the job in these respective roles, so we’ve always had a great creative partnership and really wanted to reflect this in our wedding. We have quite a few design elements up our sleeves for our wedding day, but to date Tim has created our Save the Dates, which included a custom stamp with hand-drawn graphic portraits of the two of us, and built our wedding website from the ground up; which has a liquid design so it is properly displayed on mobile devices and tablets alike! The “piece de resistance” however is the Save The Date Video! I came up with the script, we story boarded together, and he executed. We are beyond proud of the final product!”
The second video is from an un-believable(!) wedding in Las Vegas, that Junebug member Eddie Zaratsian and his team from Tic-Tock Couture Florals collaborated on with Fancy That! Events. Visual Masterpiece produced this amazing film that captured the emotion, music, dancing, and entertainment of the day. ONLY in Vegas! But seriously, the music and cinematography brilliantly narrates the story without any words at all.

The layers of white and cream against the tropical Palm Beach backdrop in today’s wedding captured by Shea Christine Photography is sure to make your heart race! I adore this glamorous yet sophisticated beach wedding!
What were the top three priorities for you in planning your wedding? I wanted amazing food, beautiful flowers and decor, and a lot of little details.
What wedding traditions or cultural traditions did you incorporated into your wedding and what did they mean to you? We lit a unity candle which I thought was a lovely way to symbolize our families joining. I also wore my grandmother’s engagement and wedding rings. She recently passed away and I wanted to honor her on my wedding day, and the absolutely incredible relationship she and my grandfather had.
Where there any places where you broke the rules in your wedding planning? Why and how did you do that?We didn’t have a wedding cake. My husband doesn’t like sweets and i am allergic to gluten, so we decided it would be more fun to serve everyone three little desserts instead. We had orange infused creme brulee, molten chocolate cake with raspberry coulis, and key lime tarts all on one plate. Everyone loved it!
What was your biggest wedding planning success? All our guests said they had a great time and loved all the little details I incorporated into our wedding. We had custom made canvas welcome bags for all our out of town guests, watermelon lemonade served in glass jars with grey and white striped straws served by when guests arrived at the reception and baskets filled with grey flip flops (dancing shoes) in the lounge area. We had a late night snack of french fries and milkshakes passed to guests on the dance floor and lounge area, and we had the valets put midnight snack bags in each car (which contained two Voss water bottles and Pennsylvania Dutch hard pretzels) with a tag that read a midnight snack from the groom’s home state so they would have a surprise when they were leaving the wedding.
What was the most important thing that you learned through the wedding planning process and what would you tell other brides-to-be?That something will probably go wrong or not turn out the way that you planned, but don’t worry about the small things. At the end of the day all that matters is the commitment you are making to the love of your life, and as long as the two of you are there, everything else is just icing on the cake.
I could not be more excited about today’s post! I’ve been busy talking with some of our very talented Junebug members – who also happen to be some of the World’s Best Wedding Planners and Designers – about the amazing things they’ve been cooking up recently. I asked them to share one of their favorite wedding ideas or details from 2012, and they did not disappoint! I’m loving this peek at their innovative ideas and massive creativity!
We’re really excited about this new decor idea we’re working on for a client getting married in October. They had sent us a picture of little mini ghost chair escort card holders, asking if it was something we would consider as a decor piece for their wedding. While cute, we thought it would be amazing to use their actual ghost chairs as the guests’ place cards by putting custom cut, calligraphy escort cards on large white paper in each chair. Gorgeous! – Candice Coppola
I inform my brides of how to use the ‘trends’ sparingly, more as accents here and there. My first rule is to interject her personality in the event and truly have fun along the way. No matter the formality of the wedding, as a planner we should always make it an enjoyable process for our brides. In this wedding you see, it was a black tie event, but the bride had a love for fun-fetti cupcakes. But instead of trendy cupcakes, we disguised the fun-fetti cake beneath a sophisticated design of fondant and sugar flowers. – Christopher Confero
We are incorporating taxidermy into the design of our events. Our clients are requesting everything from deer racks to ducks. We think it’s a chic throwback to the English Hunting Club vibe! – Lyndsey Hamilton
Don and Sandra couldn’t bear the thought of getting married at Willows Lodge without Brubeck and Parker, so they had adorable life sized cut-outs made. The cardboard pups greeted the guests, who did a double take when they saw them waiting at the entrance. Everyone enjoyed the cute little furballs being there in spirit! – Lisa Chambers
I absolutely loved the grand rehearsal dinner that we designed at the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone in the Napa Valley – with a bold yet sophisticated citrus color scheme and mid-century modern vibe. But my favorite element was after guests entered the expansive Barrel Room through a shimmering saffron draped entrance into the cocktail area. We brought in a striking six foot long chandelier created from wine glasses that hung above the bar. It looked like a giant sparkling cluster of grapes! – Annena Sorenson
Who doesn’t love scrabble? We wanted to incorporate scrabble words throughout dinner and cocktail hour. Instead of just setting up words, we placed all the extra letters & trays in vintage drawers around the room. Guests loved playing and creating their own phrases about the evening. It was a great way to carry theme through the room and giving the guests something fun to do. What a huge hit!

I love that more and more brides are being adventurous with color and pattern. White, pastels and neutral tones have long been considered the quintessential wedding look, but I see the increased use of bright colors and bold patterns as an indicator that brides are feeling more empowered to truly make their wedding something that is meaningful to them and a reflection of their own unique style. – Elizabeth Duncan
My favorite little detail from this year has to be my bee-hive inspired wedding. We used the bee hive pattern as design inspiration for all printed materials, but even more fun were the place cards and favors. The place cards were flags placed on 6″ honey dippers that were displayed in three white vintage drawers that we filled with sugar and crystals. The guest favor was organic honey from a local farm. – Heather Lynne Vickery
