What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day? My basic likes and dislikes ultimately influenced my wedding style. I made choices based on what felt right, and felt like “me”. I wanted to be able to look back on my wedding pictures 50 years down the road, and still love every aspect of our wedding day.

Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding? Looking back, there are so many magical memories and moments of the day. Those that I love the most are getting ready with all of my closest girlfriends- reminiscing on times past, and sharing in the excitement of the day, all of the smiles of on-lookers, making you feel beautiful and special. Dancing the night away with the guests and seeing how much fun everyone was having was truly fantastic, and my all time favorite memory is walking down the aisle to my husband and seeing the emotion on his face as he saw me for the first time in my wedding dress, as his bride.

The couple: Joy and Brad

The Wedding: 7.16.11 – Morganton Community House, Morganton, North Carolina

What three adjectives that best describe your wedding? Fun, Elegant & Simple

What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day? I am a simple girl and so is my husband. I wanted a elegant yet simple wedding with accents of coral. White flowers for center pieces along with greenery. I wanted our personalities to reflect in our wedding. I also saw several pictures in the bridal magazines that inspired this elegant and simple wedding style.

Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding? My dad and I did a surprise dance for our reception. We had practiced for months. It started out with Butterfly kisses then it went to Do You Love Me, Baby Got Back, and finally ended with Butterfly Kisses. It was such a surprise to everyone and we pulled the entire dance off perfectly. Another moment that I will always remember is seeing my husband tear up as I walked down the aisle. That was such a magical moment for the both of us.

Retro Vintage Vegas Engagement Photo Shoot by Callaway Gable Photography

November 8, 2011 | editorial team

retro 1940s Las Vegas vintage engagement photo shoot of Alexandra Rembac of Sterling Engagements by Callaway Gable Photography

Encouraging each and every couple to embrace their own personal style is our editorial mission here at Junebug, so I love when a shoot like this comes along and goes all the way, 100%, over-the-top to showcase the look and personality that a soon-to-be-married couple loves to embody. Wedding planner extraordinaire Alexandra Rembac of Sterling Engagements and her fiance Jonathan had a retro Vegas vision for their engagement photos, and who better to bring it to life than the team at Callaway Gable Photography? What fun!

From photographers, Brian and Allie of Callaway Gable Photography:

Our close friend and wedding client, Alexandra Rembac of Sterling Engagements, has always dreamt of a glamorous old-Hollywood inspired engagement session in Las Vegas. Hello! This is what Allie and I live for.

Our first challenge was to figure out where in Vegas to shoot. Much of Las Vegas is new and does not fit with a vintage 1940s photo shoot, except for downtown Las Vegas. Perfect! Now, how do we get access to a casino? My good friend Paul Vato owns a cigar shop in the world famous Binions Casino (former home of the World Poker Tour). Its called Vato Cigars, and he rolls and makes his own cigars! Somehow he managed to get the owners to give us unprecedented access to photograph all over the casino. One of Jonathans best friends and groomsmen works in Hollywood, styling for television and movies. In fact, his family owns Western Costume Company the worlds oldest and largest costume company. Alex and Jonathan grabbed several outifts from the 1940s and Alex had her hair styled in the same time period too. This shoot is a great example of what can be done when a client really takes the time and effort to plan their engagement shoot. It also represents what Allie and I are all about: Going above and beyond to make our clients personal and poignant images that they and their family will enjoy for years. ENJOY!
