What three adjectives best describe your New York wedding? Preppy, Crisp/Tailored, Whimsical-chic

What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day? My hubby is all about preppy, Vineyard Vines style attire and aesthetic. I come from a more Anthropologie-type persuasion. Our location was selected based on our shared love of nature, the colors were derivations of our two favorites, and the stylistic features grew out of a blended approach to preppy-boho chic!

Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding? Brian and I took five minutes, once every hour to step away from everyone and take in the whole experience. This was inspired by the line from the movie Ferris Buellers Day Off, when Ferris says, Life moves pretty fast. If you dont stop and look around once in a while…you could miss it. Remember to take a minute with your partner-in-crime to stop and enjoy one another, the scene, the guests at your party enjoying themselves, etc. It all goes by so fast, and these brief moments make all the difference!

Gothic, Mysterious and Beautiful Wedding Fashion and Decor Inspiration

January 16, 2012 | editorial team

dark, mysterious, gothic wedding fashion, floral and decor inspiration, photo shoot by Joan Allen, Merryl Brown Events and Camilla Svensson Burns

With the urge to create wedding inspiration unlike anything she had seen before, photographer Joan Allen joined forces with wedding planner Merryl Brown, florist Camilla Svensson Burns and a dream team of other talented wedding professionals to create a beautiful yet dark and mysterious series of images, and ooohh what fun for us that they did! Sprinkling lines from the French poem “Parfum Exotique” by Charles Baudelaire throughout the images (in gorgeous calligraphy by Laura Hooper) these images evoke a wonderfully romantic and gothic atmosphere, and could bring lush wedding fashion, floral, tabletop and decor ideas and inspiration to any bride planning a wedding on the sultry side of things. Enjoy!
