Kim and John’s Tuscany wedding was truly amazing. As if getting married in a gorgeous Italian countryside villa, and having gorgeous photos by Rochelle Cheever amidst pretty Italian cobble streets weren’t enough, John – a professional chef – insisted on cooking their elaborate wedding dinner for their guests himself! What a treat!
What three adjectives best describe your wedding?Loving, warm, and joyful
What was your wedding color palette?Navy blue and neutrals (burlap, whites and cream)
What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day? This was all about our family and being with our family. It truly was a family affair. My mom sewed the table runners, my friend handmade the cake topper and my husband and his Italian family were all in the kitchen preparing and cooking the meal we ate at our wedding. This was not only the trip of a lifetime for everyone involved, but it brought our family even closer together. It was all about the family that made the trip out to Italy to be with us!
Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding? The morning of the wedding we were sitting in the dining room eating breakfast and watching the rain pour down outside. While I love the rain, its not always ideal when your plans are for an outdoor wedding ceremony and reception. I was completely at ease with the idea that we might have to make changes at the last minute, and I knew my family would be on board to help. As luck would have it, before our photographer arrived the skies cleared, the sun came out and we had a beautiful outdoor ceremony. We did decide to have the reception indoors because it was too chilly outside, which kept our family warm and cozy.
What piece of advice would you give to a bride planning her wedding today?Hire a wedding planner, hire a caterer – you dont want to work on your wedding day! Im a wedding planner at a venue in California and my husband is a chef, so we were ready to tackle the day ourselves; however, it would have been nice to have someone work for us on our special day. At the same time, we cant complain… we enjoy being able to say we planned our own wedding from start to finish!

Every month, when the sweet ladies at Lovely Bride send me the pretty photos for their trunk shows, it just kills me that I’m in Seattle instead of LA or New York. And that I don’t need a wedding dress. And that I don’t work at their gorgeous boutique where I would try on dresses during my lunch hour. Because seriously! They carry the most romantic, lacy, pretty dresses. So if YOU are in LA, get yourself down to their Lea Ann Belter trunk show this month, and live vicariously for me a little!

Catherine and Petar’s pretty South Africa wedding day had it all…gorgeous scenery in Cape Town, a stunning Greek Orthodox Cathedral, and an elegant ballroom! I love the glimpse of their festivities at every single location, from Du Wayne Photography!
The Couple: Catherine and Petar
The Wedding: 2.3.12 – St Georges Orthodox Cathedral and The Bay Hotel – Cape Town, South Africa
What three adjectives best describe your wedding? Classic, Colourful, Fun
What was your wedding color palette? Shades of pink and grey/silver
What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day? We both love the ocean and the great outdoors. Choosing Camps Bay, Cape Town, with its amazing mountains and ocean scenery, was not difficult even though we are both from Australia. We included colours that contrast the blues of the ocean and sky (hence the pinks), added a few African touches (favours and Marimba band), and celebrated with with good food and wine, family and friends. It was a lot of fun.
Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding? Everything was perfect!
What piece of advice would you give to a bride planning her wedding today? Have a good diary and wedding file, be organized, be careful not to get too carried away as budget can blow out, do a little bit every week as this stops it all getting on top of you, and have fun!
