Saba and Ali began their wedding plans looking to celebrate the Persian culture and all its grandeur. With a gorgeous landscape as their backdrop and a glamorous take on the classic gold and cream color palette, the couple tied the knot surrounded by family and friends while Jinda Photography captured every moment.
The Inspiration: We just wanted everything to be elegant. The decor was reflective of Persian culture through a lot of the gold accents, etc. I didn’t want too much color as I wanted it to be more of a neutral, soft and romantic feel. We had traditional pieces of our culture such as the tea station with antique Persian rugs and dolls.
The Design: We tried to use flowers wherever we could – I love flowers! The flowers were used throughout the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. We used a lot of candles to provide a nice ambiance throughout the space. The paper products were all a nice ivory with antique gold penmanship. The linens were a gold and ivory very simply crinkled silk. The design was just simple elegance.
The Location: Our wedding location was Silver Creek Valley Country Club. The venue had gorgeous rolling hills and a lush landscape. We love nature and really wanted to have a venue that was lush and green. The ballroom was all floor to ceiling glass and so throughout the wedding we could lookout onto the gorgeous landscape. Even as the night fell the city lights were twinkling before our eyes.
The Moments: The most memorable part of the day for me was just sitting at the ceremony in front of the gorgeous traditional Persian table setting and looking at the reflection of Ali and I in the mirror while being surrounded by all our family and friends on an absolutely gorgeous day.
I am very happy that I was able to incorporate Persian culture into so much of the wedding. I love Persian culture and all its opulence and I was so happy it was reflected in the details. The live music that we had was also wonderful. Traditional Persian instruments were while Persian dancers interacted with us and the guests. Everything came together beautifully and was truly unforgettable.
The Advice: My advice to couples would be to not stress about the little details. Make sure you enjoy every step of the planning process. There were many things that I knew I couldn’t control and so early on in the process I made a decision to not stress about them. At the end of the day, your wedding will be about the love that the two of your share and whether the napkins are the right shade of ivory will not matter.

The Vision: We wanted a very relaxed atmosphere in a beautiful setting. The Norrviken Garden is a magical place and we let nature be the focal point with minimal ‘man-made’ decoration.
The Style: My husband is of Indian heritage and we knew all along that we wanted to have a more traditional Indian Sikh wedding in Vancouver, followed by a more ‘simple’ celebration in Sweden. From the very start I knew that I wanted a dress that transpired both cultures – a Western and Indian fusion.
The Dress:I was in India for a week with my in-laws to pick out my wedding outfits, among them was the western inspired dress for the reception. I immediately fell in love with a dress by Mayyur R Girotra – famous couture designer in India. It was the first dress I tried so I was very fortunate to be able to end the ‘dress search‘ there and then.
The dress I tried was in black and silver but Mayyur was happy to make one in off-white and gold; the colors I had in mind all along.
The Accessories: Since the upper part of my dress was quite elaborate, I did not have a lot of jewelry or accessories. While in India I was given a Kundan jewelry set so I wore the earrings and the ring at the reception.
The Advice: I think you need to find a balance between a dress that you love and and a dress that you love to wear, because not only do you want to look beautiful – you want to feel beautiful.
