Enchanted Woodland Bridal Style Inspiration Shoot

August 9, 2014 | Junebug Weddings

Nothing short of exquisite, this woodland bridal style inspiration shoot by Seattle based wedding photographer Ryan Flynn Photography takes my breath away! It’s a genius combination – everything from the lush green setting to the jaw-dropping bouquets provide a tranquility and serenity that adds so much to the look.

Here are a few words from Ryan on the inspiration for this enchanting photo shoot: This summer, I got to work with some of my absolute favorite people in the Seattle wedding business on an inspiration shoot. It’s always fun to collaborate with such talented individuals. Rachel, of Finch and Thistle Event Design, and I wanted to put something together that was woodsy, ethereal, and organic. The Sarah Seven blush wedding dress and wild flowers fit perfectly with the model’s amazing red hair.

Ask the Expert – How to Choose Your Wedding Color Palette

August 8, 2014 | Junebug Weddings

Have you chosen your wedding color palette yet? Elements such as wedding style, location, fashion and season all factor in to your final decision, and we’ve been talking with wedding planner Flavia Lamoglia of Allure Events Atelier about how you can take all these elements under consideration and find a color palette that’s right for you!

Find Your Wedding Style

The first step is to ask yourself about which type of style you want to create for your event. This will set the tone for your wedding elements and inspiration ideas. For instance, vibrant colors tend to give a dramatic experience. Modern palettes are created by using one bold color and one or two accent hues along with straight and clean lines for you furniture, china and decor elements. If you choose to have a romantic, classic wedding using soft blush colors and gold elements along with ornate accents should do the trick.

Consider the Season

Although there is no rule about which colors to use for each season, you can save money by using flowers and accessories that are available at specific times of the year.

Consider the Fashion

A big myth among brides is the fact that the bridesmaids’ dresses should match their wedding color palette. It doesn’t necessarily have to be like that. If you are struggling trying to match their outfits with your event colors, try to choose dresses that have neutral tones or metallic hues. Voila!

Consider the Location

The venue is also a key element for your color palette. Although we often dream about a certain palette for our wedding day, sometimes it may not be the right choice for the space you are hosting your reception. Make sure the color is complementing the venue by looking at wall textures, furniture and other décor elements. However if you really want to keep the color selection you have in mind, a trick is to drape the facility walls or work with a good lighting company. Lighting can transform a room, believe me!

Intimate DIY Wedding at Barr Mansion in Austin, Texas

August 8, 2014 | Junebug Weddings

I personally witnessed Renna and Josh’s sweet “I do’s” in late spring and knew right away that I wanted to share it with our readers! While the weather was overcast, the lush grounds of Barr Mansion created the perfect space for friends and family to celebrate these two lovebirds. A full DIY wedding right down to the bride’s customized design of the dress and the groom’s handmade guestbook, this Texas affair is beyond perfection – enjoy!

The Wedding: 5.25.2014 – Barr Mansion, Austin, Texas

The Goals: Being that Austin was our meeting place and our wedding brought family and friends from near and far, we wanted to give a nod to our Texas roots, and display the eclectic beauty that is Austin. We wanted a consistent theme that matched our personalities as old souls. As such, we wanted a setting that blended old and new in a very elegant and romantic way. In the fonts we selected for our invitations and other materials, we staggered old script and modern/new-age fonts that set the stage for the Barr Mansion style.

The Look: My dress was modified quite a bit from its original design. In searching for the perfect dress, I found the best solution was to customize my own. However, watching the seamstress take a sharp pair of scissors to my dress was an unnerving sight. The end result was a dress that exceeded my expectations!

The Design: Our colors played on our romantic theme with soft blush pinks and pops of green succulent colors bordered by chocolate brown. We incorporated these colors into the accents of the wedding party attire and allowed for actual succulents and flowers to bring in a natural feel. Josh made our Texas “guestbook” himself with reclaimed wood he found and painted. We also made the signature drink signs, flip flop bins, the table assignments, and purchased the LOVE marquee.
