Classic Orange Wedding at The Old Mill

March 21, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Classic-Orange-Wedding-at-The-Old-Mill (21 of 36)

Before their wedding ceremony, Chiara and Gerry shared a special moment at Irish pub Sligo while relaxing with a glass of Guinness. By the time the ceremony came around, friends and family were gathered in a beautiful garden at The Old Mill in Rose Valley, Pennsylvania.  Sunflowers and light pink florals dressed the aisle leading to a beautiful wooden arch that was covered in natural vines. Pops of orange brightened the bride’s bouquet and made other arrivals around the venue. Pat Robinson Photography expertly captured the new moments the couple spent as husband and wife.

The Couple:

Chiara and Gerry

The Wedding:

The Old Mill, Rose Valley, Pennsylvania

The Inspiration:

Vintage but classic–our bridal party all wore gray, but we used in pops of orange and other colors as well as metallic colors.

Our first look–outside of Sligo in Media. Our closest friends in our bridal party all stood inside Sligo and watched so just by chance we were able to share that special moment with them as well. We all had a Guinness before we went to the ceremony!

Brooklyn Inspired Wedding at MyMoon

March 20, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Brooklyn-Inspired-Wedding-at-MyMoon (8 of 29)

When Lauren and Paul first met at a party Paul was throwing, they ended up staying awake all night talking on the roof of his Brooklyn apartment. Because their love sparked in Brooklyn, it only seems fitting they wanted to design a wedding that was “very Brooklyn.” With its dark brick walls and industrial feel, MyMoon was the perfect place for Lauren and Paul to gather close friends and family as they exchanged their vows. With natural green vines covering the outdoor wall space and warm colored florals in mason jars hanging from the railings, the decor beautifully engaged with the industrial architecture to create a romantic, cozy feel. The Twins perfectly captured the amazing moments at this urban wedding.

The Couple:

Lauren and Paul

The Wedding:

MyMoon, Brooklyn, New York

The Inspiration:

For the past few years we’ve been living in rural India, so we really wanted to have the wedding be in Brooklyn and also FEEL very Brooklyn. Over everything else, we wanted it intimate, comfortable – not too “wedding-y,” but more like a great party we’d want to go to. We ended up choosing MyMoon, a restaurant in Williamsburg, for both the ceremony and reception because it was modern yet cozy, industrial but not without warmth. It also has a great outdoor space, which we loved. I wanted to balance out the modernness of the space with a romantic dress and lush flowers, which I think made it really lovely in the end.

The Moments:

We really had a great time throughout, but my favorite thing was that we had a silent/Quaker meeting as part of our ceremony (I grew up going to Quaker school and this was the one thing I always knew I wanted for my wedding). It was really special because our friends and family members were able to stand up and speak to us directly – share their wishes for us, and say a few words on our behalf. Lots of grown men cried. It was wonderful. A good friend also flew in from England to officiate, which was an honor for us.

The Couple Recommends:

Our photographers, Caroline and Kelly of The Twins, were out-of-this-world talented and we were so lucky to have them there. Not only did they work like little photo-ninjas, capturing all of the moments that made the day special – they also added their own gorgeous sense of style to all of the shots. I teared up the first time I saw our wedding photos because I couldn’t believe how beautiful they made everything look. They live and work in Newcastle, England so if there are any UK brides out there looking for a photography dream-team, I can’t recommend them enough. They’re amazing.

5 Spring Wedding Color Palette Ideas

March 20, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Spring weddings have been filling our inbox faster than the temperatures are warming up, and we can’t help but feel inspired by all the pretty color palettes we’re seeing! As the flowers begin to bloom through the melting snow, we see more and more beautiful weddings with punchy pinks, lush greenery, and dreamy pastels. These spring wedding color palettes will help you envision the day of your dreams in hues you truly love!

1. Coral, Aqua, and Navy – This punchy palette gives the old complementary colors orange and blue a fresh update by using a more pink-toned shade alongside a light, bright aqua and a crisp navy for contrast. This palette works especially well for preppy nautical weddings and rustic backyard soirees.

2. Lavender and Sage – If simple, subtle, and natural are your guide words for your wedding day, consider a lavender and sage color palette. From bouquets of eucalyptus leaves to bunches lavender petals for guests to throw as you make your way down the aisle, this palette is as easy to pull off as it is beautiful. For a modern take on the palette, add purple and green succulents to your centerpieces or give them out as favors!

3. Pink, Coral, and Green – For a wedding that is quintessentially spring, a choose a palette of pink, coral, and green. This palette is effortless to pull off because you’re able to use your favorite flowers as a focal point, whether they’re peonies, dahlias, or garden roses. Fill small vases on your reception tables with single stems or create a ceremony arch out of wild leaves and pretty pink petals.

4. Green, Ivory, and Navy – For a wedding look that is both classic and earthy, go with green and ivory accented by navy details. The natural arrangement of green and ivory appears pure and organic, while the navy adds a level of chic contrast. We love the idea of adding berries to your bouquet or cake for a pop of blue against the ivory and green!

5. Blue and Yellow – This color palette is incredibly versatile in that it can be used for any wedding style: nautical, bohemian, über-chic, or backyard fun. Yellow and blue make for a clean starting place to accessorize your wedding with elements that are reflective of your personalities. We love the idea of shaking up your fashion choices with a blue wedding gown or yellow bridesmaids dresses!
