Congratulations to Lauren and Peter! This adorable pair, who are getting married in Big Bear California, Spring of 2016, are the lucky winners of the Catherine Rhodes Wedding photography giveaway.
Here’s their cute proposal story:
“We were camping and hiking at Julia Pfeiffer Burns park in Big Sur, CA when Peter found a little nook in the trees and suggested we crawl in. We were then in this little nook on the cliff side surrounded by trees looking at the ocean! He put the camera on auto shoot and during the second set asked me to switch spots so I stood up and that’s when he got down on one knee. While cliff sides are beautiful I accidentally placed the ring on the rock to take a photo and it tumbled over and was dangling on a tiny corner a centimeter away from falling into the ocean 500 feet below…..”
Congratulations, again, you two! And a H U G E thank you to Catherine Rhodes for offering up such an awesome giveaway.
Ashley and Jeff’s backyard wedding was inspired by feminine details and classic elements, making for a lovely and natural celebration. Having your wedding in a familiar place, like a parents’ backyard, can result in such calm and ease, and Erwin Darmali of Apertura perfectly captured these emotions through his lens. A couple of precious flower girls are a wonderful bonus, and these two brought so much joy to the story of Ashley and Jeff’s wedding day.
The Couple:
Ashley and Jeff
The Wedding:
Private Residence, Pasadena, California
The Inspiration:
Simple, girly and natural. The wedding was at my parents home in the backyard which is situated at the edge of the Angeles National Forest. I’ve always been a nature girl and when my parents were looking for a new home during my childhood I saw it in the local newspaper and showed my mom. I’ve grown up in the woods and I wanted the focus to be on my home.
The Moment:
The first look. I was so excited and nervous but once I was with him I felt so calm.
The Couple Recommends:

Beautiful Day Bridal was a dream to work with. They worked so hard to get all our dresses and tuxes fitted in time.

If you’re a cool and stylish recently engaged couple, Brooklyn is the ideal spot for your engagement session. Kurt and Kyle had the great fortune of being followed around by the brilliant Amber Gress Photography as they took in the colors and lights of the city, hand in hand. We love that the adorable pair stopped to toast a glass of bubbly with the skyline in the background.
