Glamorous 1930s Wedding in Portland

April 14, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Glamorous-1930s-Wedding-Portland-Stark-Photography (23 of 33)

Held at a rented house on an organic farm in Portland, Julie and JC’s vintage inspired wedding was everything they dreamed it would be. From Julie’s antique silk gown to the ivory and purple color palette, everything about the 1930s wedding was glamorous and reflective of Julie and JC’s love. After the joyful  outdoor ceremony, the bride showed off her vibrant body art in a stunning dusty blue backless number. She and JC danced the night away at Urban Studio where Stark Photography artistically captured the couple’s first moments as newlyweds.

The Couple:

Julie and JC

The Wedding:

Urban Studio, Portland, Oregon

The Inspiration:

So, the ring was definitely the initial spark. All in all, we strived for a romantic, intimate, and almost effortless wedding that appealed to the glamour and romance of the ’30s and ’40s.

The Moments:

I think my favorite moment of the day was when we finally all started to party together. All of my closest friends and family were surrounding me and everyone just seemed so happy and beautiful to look at. Promptly after cake, JC and I began the dancing with music to one of our favorite bands that the photographers could not get out of their later on. Having moved away from friends and family only a year ago, it was the best wedding present ever to have all of them their with us, sharing out joy. JC and are still in awe of our day and all of the people that it so special.

Chic San Diego Wedding at Balboa Park

April 13, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Chic-San-Diego-Wedding-Balboa-Park-Andrew-Abajian (20 of 27)

Dre and Nate’s San Diego wedding kept things simple as to focus the day on their love and the beauty of their ceremony spot at Acazar Garden in Balboa Park. The chic duo brought along talented photographer Andrew Abajian to capture their day with an artistic perspective true to the couple’s aesthetic. The casual celebration ended at Cucina Ubrana, where friends of the newlyweds arranged sentimental dances for the bride and her father and the groom and his mother.

The Couple:

Dre and Nate

The Wedding:

Balboa Park, San Diego, California

The Inspiration:

We’re very simple people. We wanted the scenery around us speak for itself without having to add extra fluff. We got married in Alcazar Garden in Balboa Park where flowers bloom all year long. We had our reception walking-distance at Cucina Urbana — an American Italian place that allowed us to customize our food items. The restaurant has an urban rustic feel. The decor of each venue spoke for itself. His aunt, the florist, added that extra sparkle with flooding the space with flowers. It turned out very romantic.

The Moments:

The first time seeing each other all dolled up. Damn, he looked so fresh! Our reception didn’t have anything planned besides food, drinks, and pictures. Our college friends hooked up their iPod to the speakers and put together the father/daughter son/mother dance. They played a song my father played on vinyl as I fell asleep on his big belly as a toddler.

The Couple Recommends:

Our photographer mixed right in with our friends and family. You wouldn’t have even guessed they were our photographers cause they were getting down with the rest of us! We love Andrew’s style/eye and we fell in love with our photos just as we did when we first saw his webpage.

The Wedding Team:

Photography – Andrew Abajian
Ceremony Venue – Alcazar Garden at Balboa Park
Reception Venue – Cucina Urbana
Makeup Artist – Thorne Aristry
Hair Styling – Salon Ink
Wedding Dress – Brides by Demetrios
Groom’s Apparel – Hugo Boss
