Green Woodland Wedding Inspiration

April 22, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Spring-Woodland-Wedding-Inspiration-Katheryn-Moran-Photography (6 of 20)

Inspired by the lively nature in the Pacific Northwest, some of the region’s best wedding professionals joined together to create this beautiful woodland wedding inspiration. The color palette designed by Tied Bow Events is filled with shades of green, which is perfect for a spring wedding in any part of the world. Kathryn Moran Photography perfectly captured the intricate details and the textures of the forest.

Here’s what Katheryn Moran had to say about the shoot:

When I set out to create this styled shoot I had a definite vision and I knew I wanted to try and encapsulate everything Pacific Northwest. Having grown up here my entire life, I felt like I had a good grasp on what gives the PNW its claim to fame: moss, pine cones, tall green trees, textured woods- oh, and did I mention moss? Little did I know that so many of these natural elements were becoming popular with brides near and far. The woodland approach to wedding style is blowing up and I wanted to feature how a bride might be able to achieve this style by utilizing the beauty that is already found all around us.

Our design for the day was led by Morgan Gaunt of Tied Bow Events. Her vision and ability to meld different textures, colors, heights and props really made this shoot out in the woods come alive. The space she created was magical, whimsical, elegant and fun- something I think all brides can appreciate and love. We had so many vendors that were willing to participate to make this shoot a reality and bring unique items to the table. For Such A Time Designs provided beautiful hand stamped flatware that added a personalized feel to the table. Place settings, menus and other stationery created by Noteworthy Ink was simple, but playful and made the whole scene feel more realistic. That gorgeous bouquet and headband was crafted by Colleen of Botanikal and featured all sorts of different kinds of flowers and greenery that really speak to the Pacific Northwest. A stunning green sapphire ring from The Silvery Moon, makeup by Ashley of Love Beauty and hair done by Kayla of La Terra Salon all teamed up and took our bride from a typical day in the woods to a beautiful, decorated bride amongst the trees and vintage wedding day glamour.

Intimate Wedding at Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens

April 22, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Intimate-Wedding-Ann-Norton-Sculpture-Gardens-Joshua-Kane-Wood (30 of 39)

Minimalist, natural, and intimate are words that come to mind when describing Janeane and Adam’s gorgeous Palm Beach wedding. The small celebration took place at Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens where the couple’s closest friends and family gathered among the lush greenery and brick statues to hear Janeane and Adam exchange vows. Joshua Kane Photography so elegantly captured the ease and romance of the day, including all of the subtle details that made it so special.

The Couple:

Janeane and Adam

The Wedding:

Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens, Palm Beach, Florida

The Inspiration:

We wanted things very simple, very anti-wedding, and to be focused on what was actually happening that day. We didn’t want the day to be about dresses or decorations- we wanted it to be beautiful, but also laid back and enjoyable. It was easy to just let the nature around us speak for that — the tropical foliage and flowers, the blue sky and warm air. It was more about being with our families and closest friends, and feeling love and support from them and each other.

Both Adam and I share a similar aesthetic — less can most of the time be more. We had a few elements that we worked with: a print of the galaxy from a book printed in the 1880s, my favorite flowers (Gardenia, Magnolia) and a color theme that included a Peachy-pink, copper, creamy white, dark green, and mint. These colors were spread across the wedding in small ways. My dress was minimalist, off-white, and beautifully made. The bridesmaids wore minty blue lace dresses. The invitations were in copper and peach. The bridal bouquet featured a large Magnolia with dark verdant leaves.

The Moments:

Our favorite moment (other than being pronounced man and wife!), was at the end of the reception, when we told our families that we were expecting a baby. We had found out the night before we flew down to Florida, and decided to wait to tell everyone so that we could all enjoy the wedding for the wedding, and then celebrate the news together. It was very hard to keep a secret for those few days, however! Everybody in the room was so happy, and we spent a long time getting and giving hugs!

The Couple Recommends:

Joshua Kane was a truly amazing wedding photographer – it was the perfect balance of having a good eye, getting a shot that he knew he wanted, and also standing back and letting the day happen naturally. He is incredibly talented and cool. The photography didn’t feel contrived or the images posed… he was able to weave together the story of the day through images.

Vibrant Indian Wedding at The Dolce Hayes Mansion

April 21, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Gorgeous-Indian-Wedding-The-Dolce-Hayes-Mansion-Sarah-Maren (28 of 38)

Two families traveled to The Dolce Hayes Mansion in San Jose for several days of glamorous and colorful celebration. Jessica and Ganesh’s week-long wedding was a fusion of their North and South Indian cultures with sentimental elements and a touch of Western style. Sarah Maren Photography captured the extraordinary wedding, including two ceremonies, four outfit changes, and one bright red vintage convertible. We love that the couple honored the vibrancy of traditional Indian weddings by maintaining the same lively color palette throughout the various parts of the celebration over the course of the week.

The Couple:

Jessica and Ganesh

The Wedding:

The Dolce Hayes Mansion, San Jose, California

The Inspiration:

We had a fusion North and South Indian wedding so our families and cultures were the true inspiration for our décor and fashion. Six months before the wedding, we made a trip to India, both to North India and South India, with our parents to find all the garb and traditional items for the wedding. Because Indian weddings have so many colors that come through in the various events, we didn’t really have specific wedding colors. We love fuchsia, gold and teal so we had our bridal party and parents rock the colors throughout the weekend, both in the traditional Indian kurtas and saris and western outfits for the men at the reception.

As for the decor, we wanted people to feel like they were attending our Indian wedding in Northern California. We were going for a magical, rustic ambiance despite the super energy and bright colors of an Indian wedding; not to mention, we had a lot to think about given we had two ceremonies representing both our Sikh and Hindu faiths. It was a destination wedding for 90% of our guests so we wanted to be outdoors as much as possible. We also hoped for both of our quirks and personalities to show through the little things. We had post cards instead of a guest book to show the nostalgia and playfulness of who we are. We served wine that we cherish that is grown by dear family friends to show our connectedness to our guests. The wine labels were designed by one of Jessica‘s close friends who melded the look of henna and California flowers in the drawing. We wanted people to feel our love for each other and for our guests in the smallest of places throughout the many events of the weekend.

The Moments:

The wedding began a week before the actual ceremony and for both of us, the week long celebration was so special. As for our actual wedding day, we both loved sitting at the Mandap during the Hindu ceremony. We were outside in the sun on the perfect day sitting next to each other, staring out into a group of family and friends who care about us so much and who we love. Similarly, the moment the reception doors opened and being introduced as husband and wife was such a treasured moment. And of course, the dance party represented so much of who Ganesh and I are as a couple!! Two people who like to have fun with their community of rock star human beings. In other words, the dance floor was full of lots of sweaty people of all ages having a great time! For such a big wedding, we were surprised at how many intimate moments we were able to have with our friends and family throughout the weekend and even with each other.
