Beautifully Natural Indoor Wedding at The Woolshed

Beautifully-Natural-Indoor-Wedding-at-The-Woolshed (36 of 40)

After months of making an effort to take more weekend adventures together, Joel planned a special day to Bethells Beach. Taking Rachael by complete surprise, Joel got down on one knee surrounded by white rose petals and candles in jars hanging from the trees. The couple brought the same romantic, natural atmosphere to their wedding design. Lush wild plants, rolling green hills, and fresh lemon trees created the perfect setting for their raw, genuinely beautiful wedding at The Woolshed in Matakana Country Park. Soft-blue ambre bridesmaid dresses added a nice contrasting color to the natural yellow-hinted scenery. We can’t get over the gorgeous, awe-inspiring photos James Broadbent Photography captured of this beautiful couple!

The Couple:

Joel and Rachael

The Wedding:

The Woolshed in Matakana Country Park, Warkworth, New Zealand

The Inspiration:

I had always imagined that we would get married outside, given Joel’s love of hunting and diving and because I feel that when it comes to weddings, how could you possibly try and beat the atmosphere and aesthetic that nature provides?! However, when we realised that the best time for us to get married was in winter, we didn’t want to risk it being outdoors, so we just bought it inside! And, thus, it kind of became this winter-woodland-wonderland situation. We wanted to keep it as natural as possible, so literally all the decorations where the result of my mum and aunty foraging throughout the neighbourhood. The number of texts I got from mum regarding “the perfect berries” or “beautiful moss” that she had just found was hilarious – she would frequently pull over the car having just spotted a plant she had been hunting down and with garden scissors in the glove box she just hunter-gathered right there and then! Another decoration element was our photo wall. We collected photos of every single one our guests, framed them, and hung them on ribbons overlaying hessian sack so as to create an entire wall made up of photos. Not only was this super aesthetically pleasing, it also was another cool way to let our guests know they were really important to us, had been thought about, and planned for. I wish we could have transferred it directly to our house!

The Moments:

Oh it is too hard to pick one! Catching our first glimpse of each other as I walked down the isle towards Joel would have to be one. We were both so overcome by the emotion of the moment – Joel’s fighting back tears and I’m blatantly laugh/crying the whole way down the isle. It was such an anticipated/dreamt about moment, that I always knew was going to be significant but I think it took Joel quite by surprise. I will never forget the look on his face. It just felt like everything we had shared together, the conversations, the adventures, the friendship, the holidays, the day-to-day, was compressed into that one moment.

Black and White Wedding at Riviera Palm Springs

June 20, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Black-and-White-Wedding-at-Riviera-Palm-Springs (7 of 39)

Having their mind set on a winter wedding outdoors, Ellen and Conor decided to have their Old Hollywood styled destination wedding in Palm Springs, California, where it’s always sunny. The Riviera Palm Springs allowed them to have a gorgeous simply white outdoor ceremony and to take the reception indoors away from the cold January night breeze. Whimsical gold chargers, black table cloths, and gold vases that sparkled from the candle light dressed the tables. The decor truly resembled glamour and elegance. Capturing perfect memories of the day, the talented EPLove stole the couple away from the crowd to photograph breathtaking moments in the surrounding natural setting.

The Couple:

Ellen and Conor

The Wedding:

Riviera Palm Springs, Palm Springs, California

The Inspiration:

Colors of burgundy, peach and cream with pops of gold… a neutral pallet! A night of Candlelight and Romance! Flowers and succulents as art… Creative and stylized with desert inspiration! We wanted to keep things elegant and simple but still tie in the fun vintage feel that Palm Springs gave us.. I absolutely loved our ghost chairs for the ceremony and reception and feel like they really transformed the spaces into something so modern and elegant.

The Moments:

The most memorable moment would have to be our first look. My bridesmaids and I drove out with our photographers before our ceremony about a mile north of the hotel to the desert at the side of the highway where Conor and his groomsmen were already waiting. Conor had his back to us when we were pulling up and our amazing photographers Roger and Nate captured me walking up to him and when he turned around and we saw each other for the first time was such an incredible moment. We then did such a fun shoot with our bridal party in the desert with a more editorial feel and I’m so glad we chose to do photos before the ceremony because once we said our I do’s we were really able to enjoy our time as newlyweds with our guests during the cocktail hour.

The Couple Recommends:

My advice to future destination wedding brides and grooms would be to book your vendors as soon as possible and definitely organize having a day of coordinator so you and your significant other and family can relax. Although it is a destination wedding try to make the day your own by putting in those extra touches your guests will appreciate that will incorporate you and your groom’s personal style and personalities.

UP Inspired Wedding at 440 Seaton

June 20, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

UP-Inspired-Wedding-at-440-Seaton (24 of 31)

After a touching proposal centered around their favorite movie UP, Kristen and Phillip wanted to include some of the same details in their wedding at 440 Seaton in Los Angeles, California. The bright decor and correlation to the movie perfectly expressed the couple’s personalities at their wedding. The incredibly talented Innovate Marketing Group perfectly designed the day to uniquely represent Kristen and Phillip. And, to top it all off, Brandon Kidd Photography expertly captured beautiful details at the wedding.

The Couple:

Kristen and Phillip

The Wedding:

440 Seaton, Los Angeles, California

The Inspiration:

Because our proposal was such a big hit with our family and friends, we wanted to incorporate it into our whimsical and quirky wedding style. We definitely let our own personality fly sky high in everything we did, from the detailed cranes hanging in the entrance, the cartoon-like paper flower bouquets, to the beautiful hand-crafted chalk aisle that served as the centerpiece of our ceremony. Our flower girl was dressed very colorfully as Kevin the bird and our ring bearer wore a Russell the Wilderness Explorer outfit, a nod to Phill’s creative proposal. We also turned onto this artist, James Hance, who created a series of drawings combining the “UP” and Star Wars characters — perfect for us as it went with our proposal and Phill’s love for Star Wars. Because Phill is Japanese, I wanted to bring out that traditional side of him by folding and displaying a thousand cranes.

The Moments:

We enjoyed every single minute of our wedding, but the ceremony in particular provided a special moment that we will always treasure. Phill had his former senior pastor marry us, which confused many of our guests as we currently attend a different church with my family and are very much involved there. During the ceremony, the pastor revealed that even though he’s watched Phill grow up for many years, he’s known my mother even longer, almost 40 years! Ted Esaki, the officiant, married my mother’s high school best friend, and he even surprised us with pictures of my mother (dressed like Princess Peach of Mario Kart) speaking at their wedding! We also loved watching our flower girl (dressed as Kevin the bird) and ring bearer (dressed as Russell the Wilderness Explorer) walk down the aisle. They melted everyone’s hearts and really stole the show! Our flower girl is still talking about how it was the best day of her life!

The Couple Recommends:

Our event could not have happened without our wedding planner, Mary Yang of Innovate Marketing Group. She is so detail oriented and responsive. Mary also went above and beyond when coordinating with the venue, as 440 Seaton was relatively inexperienced with events (they’re a newer venue) and threw a few curveballs at her, all of which she handled with more grace and professionalism than anyone else I’ve met. We were also blown away by the work of Kyle Shimazaki, the artist that created our one-of-a-kind chalk aisle. Phill gave him a snippet of my vision, but insisted that he bring in his own creative twist, and did he deliver! Jay’s Catering did an incredible job with great customer service and wonderful culinary experience. Many of our guests raved about the food — especially the cookie and milk shots. Brandon and Kristin Kidd of Brandon Kidd Photography also worked a great amount of magic in their photography. They took advantage of the urban setting of our venue to bring out the quirky dynamic of our wedding. This dynamic duo really made us feel comfortable and they do amazing work together!
