Rustic Chic Colombian Wedding

July 10, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Rustic-Chic-Colombian-Wedding (23 of 38)

Through a mutual friend’s poker night, Christine and Oscar met, and it was love at first sight. The couple wished for a wedding rich in Colombian culture that also carried a mix of tradition and modernity. Their reception venue, Taller de Oficios de Barichara, is not just a beautiful spot, but is also a school that preserves the traditional, native crafts of Colombian culture. This dark-blue and warm-red styled wedding was surrounded by beautiful architecture, which told its story through the gorgeous photos captured by Jean-Laurent Gaudy. We absolutely love event planner Zayda Pabon’s design choices and Christine’s bridal fashion — this wedding is sure to inspire!

The Couple:

Christine and Oscar

The Wedding:

Taller de Oficios de Barichara, Barichara, Colombia

The Inspiration:

We wanted something very colorful and festive that would fit the Colombian culture and a religious wedding. I asked the wedding planner to try and set a “rural chic” atmosphere. The global impression was a perfect mix of tradition and modernity. Our color palette of blue and red was also very present everywhere.

The Moments:

It’s very difficult to pick just one! The whole day went flawlessly, and we enjoyed all of it! We loved it all from the religious ceremony where we first saw all of our family and friends waiting for us, to the photo session with Jean-Laurent with just the 2 of us after church, to the speeches where we all cried and Oscar started singing with the band during the party. Different emotions at different moments of the wedding but overall it was a perfect day! We just wish it would have lasted longer!

Austin Warehouse Wedding at Brazos Hall

July 10, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Austin-Warehouse-Wedding-at-Brazos-Hall (15 of 23)

Austin is known for its music festivals and talented graphic arts scene, so when Brian and Marsha decided to get married, they pulled their wedding inspiration from Marsha’s favorite Austin City Limits poster. After contacting the same artist, Writ Large, the couple was able to design a poster that stood as the theme for their wedding. Bright, warm florals dressed Brazos Hall, creating the perfect scenery for the couple to exchange vows. And, making this an all-around awesome Austin wedding, Jake Holt Photography captured incredible photos of the newly married couple!

The Couple:

Brian and Marsha

The Wedding:

Brazos Hall, Austin, Texas

The Inspiration:

Our love for one another can best be expressed through a soundtrack. So, in a way, we created our own “music festival” of sorts. In 2012, I purchased an Austin City Limits Music Festival Poster. I loved the artwork, and we built much of our home décor around the poster. About 1 year before the wedding, I decided I wanted to contact the artist who had created this poster. Andy Gregg and I worked on creating a wedding poster together, and as the poster was created, so was the wedding around it.

The Moments:

We didn’t want the night to end, and when it came time to leave, all of our family and friends gathered outside to give us a sparkler send-off. All of the dearest people in our lives, their faces brilliantly lit for us to see, we made our way through the tunnel of fire and out to where my Dad was waiting to drive us away in his 1967 Green Pontiac Firebird. The top was down, we climbed into the car, and I looked back at all of our loved ones and yelled “I want to do this every weekend!!” – as we made our way down 4th street, we all began to cry. As we turned south onto Congress, I looked back at the Capitol and it began to rain. Cold pissing rain. And it was beautiful.
