Romantic Portuguese Wedding in the Countryside

October 25, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Wedding - Geraldine + Daniel - BRAGA - Portugal - photos by Luis Efigenio / www.quemcasaquerfotos.com

Architects Daniel and Geraldine chose the magnificent Pousada Mosteiro de Amares in Portugal for their romantic wedding. The highly detailed venue was the center point for their wedding design. The bride wore a beautifully untraditional, two-piece gown by designer Mira Zwillinger. This outdoor Portuguese wedding was full of laughter and smiles, and Luis Efigénio Photography perfectly captured every minute of it!

The Couple:

Daniel and Geraldine

The Wedding:

Pousada Mosteiro de Amares, Portugal

The Inspiration:

For us the venue was just so incredibly beautiful that we didn’t really need to put much effort into decorations or any ‘theme.’ It was an old monastery refurbished by the famous Portuguese Architect Eduardo Souto de Moura whose work we both really admire. The attention to detail in the building is flawless. Dresswise we wanted everyone to be relaxed and wear what they felt most comfortable with. The flowers were all made by my Mum and Aunts and we used what was available locally at the time. We had cork inspired favours (as Portgual is renowned for it) and some special mauritian shortbread cakes my family made for us.

The Moments:

Everything?! What was real special was that everyone made an enormous effort to come out to Portugal for the weekend and took the opportunity to have a summer holidays out of it. It meant we managed to catch up a little with everyone throughout the week which made the wedding day that more relaxed! Also the coming together of 2 very different cultures to celebrate our day.

The Couple Recommends:

Everyone was amazing on the day, the brass band, our photographers Luis and Isabel and the Pousada manager Graca whom without we would not have been able to have organised such an amazing day from abroad!

Free Spirited Smog Shoppe Wedding

October 25, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Free-Spirited-Smog-Shoppe-Wedding (13 of 38)

Jeffery and Gabi’s fun and easygoing personalities showed through in their wedding design. With the help of planner Jewel Georgieff, the couple created a day filled with eclectic style, soft blush and pink bridesmaids gowns, romantic reception dining with wooden details, and lush green plants surrounding the couple as they tied the knot. Producing incredible photos, Inner Song documented the one-of-a-kind day at Smog Shoppe through a creative eye.

The Couple:

Jeffery and Gabi

The Wedding:

Smog Shoppe, Los Angeles, California

The Inspiration:

I had this “Midsummer Nights Dream” vision since we started discussing the details. I knew I wanted flowers that looked like they had been picked from a field, dim lighting that felt glowy and delicious food was really the key. We wanted it to feel like a wild warehouse party with a gorgeous vibe and thats exactly what we achieved. The dress was easy for me as I’m a fashion lady… It couldn’t have any poof to it as I’m 5’1 and fairly petite; my outfits also tend to have a sexy element to them. Sexy with some class is what I ended up finding and the ribbons made for some gorgeous photos.

The Moments:

J: The vows and having the friends and family there sharing in our day. If it wasn’t for them, we wouldn’t be who we are today.

Rustic Swedish Wedding at Blase Kalkbruksmuseum

October 24, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Rustic-Swedish-Wedding-at-Bläse-Kalkbruksmuseum (25 of 27)

After the sweetest proposal on Gotland Island, where Oskar spelled out the question with sticks and stones from the rocky beach, Linnea and Oskar knew there would be no place more special to tie the knot. The stone walls and historic architecture of Bläse Kalkbruksmuseum in Lärbro, Sweden offered an enchanting atmosphere for this fairy tale wedding. Talented photographer Loke Roos documented the moments and details beautifully.

The Couple:

Linnea and Oskar

The Wedding:

Bläse Kalkbruksmuseum, Lärbro, Sweden

The Inspiration:

We wanted the theme of the wedding to mirror the landscape, architecture and environments on Gotland, which has a very barren feel with muted cool colors, but also lots of flowers and a very rustic feel. The decorations and our clothes was designed to match and meld into these remote places, and old storage house for the ceremony and a large lime stone barn for the dinner. Most importantly was that we recognized ourselves and didn’t feel like we were dressing up in costumes.

The Moments:

We loved all the small moments we got for ourselves between all the events. Our favorite one of these is just before the ceremony. We were hiding behind some trees out of sight from the arriving guests, feeling a bit jittery with anticipation for every thing to start as well as waiting for the wedding bouquet that we had forgotten at the house where we got prepared (whoops!). We both felt a “pinch me in the arm” moment and reminded each other that now was the moment.

The Couple Recommends:

Our photographer Loke was great. We hardly notice him during the day, still pictures turned out fantastic. The moments we did engaged with him, he was very easy going and made us feel comfortable. Our floral supplier Christoffers blommor satisfied us with quick response, understanding for our ideas and needs and good advices.
