Heartfelt North Texas Ranch Wedding

Today we have an extra special treat for you. You may remember from our From Blogger to Bride series that our own Junebug General Manager and Editor-in-Chief Carrie recently tied the knot. Today we’re fortunate enough to give you a glimpse into her big day! As the Executive Editor here, I typically don’t get to attend the weddings I write about. As I experienced Carrie’s wedding firsthand, I couldn’t wait to share my favorite moments with you through the beautiful images captured by our own Studio Uma.

Carrie and Phil said “I do” at the bride’s family’s ranch in North Texas, in the same spot where Phil proposed just last Christmas. With a dusty blue, cranberry, and gold color palette in mind, the couple designed their ranch wedding with DIY details, florals in deep shades of red, and plenty of sentimental touches. Carrie’s father officiated the wedding, which was just one of the family-centric elements that made the day so incredibly special.

I wanted my look to be timeless and unique all in one. When my dress consultant brought out my Rue de Seine Dahlia gown, I just knew it was the one. I paired it with pearls and ivory Badgley Mischka shoes to complete the look. For our wedding party, we wanted a mismatched, quirky style. We bought varying shades and designs of bow ties for the groomsmen to pair with their navy suits. For the bridesmaids, I wanted the girls in varying shades of dusty blue.

One of the best decisions we made was to have my dad officiate the ceremony. We also read our own vows, which was truly special and brought us both to tears. Last, but not least, we included our dogs in the ceremony, which was cute and fun. It felt wrong not to include them, they’re such a big part of our lives!

We got married at my parent’s ranch. It holds a lot of sentimental value for us because Phil proposed to me there last Christmas! It’s also just a beautiful property that we love visiting whenever we can.

Our vibe really created itself. We knew we wanted something laid-back and heartfelt and I think since we kept the wedding pretty small, we were able to keep the vibe intimate and casual.

We spray painted our mason jars (only half of the jar), votives, and candle holders. It was fun, easy and totally worth the small amount of effort!

Classic Louisville Wedding at The Pointe

December 8, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

Paige and Matt wanted to look back on their Louisville wedding and see timeless styling that could have taken place in 1915, 2015, or 2115. The classic wedding took place at The Pointe, where a modern indoor ceremony space was filled with loved ones and loving words. We love that the ceremony was personalized to be uniquely about Paige and Matt, including a “recipe” for marriage inspired by the bride’s own food blog. Brandi Potter Photography beautifully documented the whole day, but we especially can’t get enough of the dark and romantic portraits she captured of the couple before they said “I do!”

We wanted our wedding to be classic, but true to our personal styles. We wanted to ensure that when we looked at our photos 50 years from now, that we weren’t appalled at what we wore. I kept that in mind as well when deciding on hair and makeup. As much as I love a red lip and winged liner, I wanted something that would never go out of style. The same went for Matt, navy tux’s with wingtips for his groomsman were a must. Our decor was really simple, and that’s exactly what we wanted. We were so happy with our venue that we wanted it to shine, along with the florals.

We both agreed that our ceremony was the most special moment of the day. It began with some of our favorite music, then, the officiant wrote a gorgeous ceremony with very personal touches. She spoke about the closeness of our families, and the “recipe” for a happy marriage (I’m a food blogger!). It was the first time that we both heard it, so we were so blown away at how customized it was. It made us both feel so much more at ease and close.

Our photographer, Brandi Potter, was amazing! She perfectly captured not only our perfect day, but our engagement photos represented us in the best way possible. She was such a joy to work with throughout the entire process and I would gladly recommend her to anyone.
