Amanda and John Albert’s Rip Van Winkle Gardens wedding is proof that an outdoor wedding can be inexplicably elegant with the right styling. Thankfully, the couple enlisted Southern Fete to create a classic wedding look full of navy and cream details with natural elements and greenery sprinkled throughout. Erin & Geoffrey Photography captured the stunning scene, as well as the most dreamy portraits of the newlyweds basking in the golden glow of the Louisiana sunset.

The Couple:

Amanda and John Albert

The Wedding:

Rip Van Winkle Gardens, New Iberia, Louisiana

The Inspiration:

We both wanted an outdoor ceremony and reception. I knew I wanted to keep it simple and classic which is my style and I wanted to incorporate his love of the outdoors. We kept the color scheme simple with navy, green, white, and neutral browns with the wood centerpieces and deer antlers. I would described the wedding as elegant with rustic accents. We had some fun branding the wood centerpieces with a logo I had made. I loved the flowers! They added a whimsical and romantic feel to the night. As for the fashion, I just knew from the beginning that I wanted long sleeves with an open back for my wedding dress. The dress I ended up falling in love with had an illusion back with long lace sleeves. It was the one dress I kept comparing all the others to! I chose navy for the bridesmaids dresses because after looking for so long to me it was the color that looked the best on all skin tones and was so classic. I also knew I wanted the convertible dresses so that the girls could choose the style best for their body types and styles. The groom and groomsmen wore dark brown suits with navy ties, a white pocket square and cowboy boots.

The Moments:

I would say that walking down the aisle and seeing John Albert for the first time with tears in his eyes, which of course made me tear up, would be my favorite moment! We decided against a first look because we wanted that special moment with our raw emotions to be a surprise! My other favorite moment from the wedding is when John Albert split his pants from dancing so hard on the last song of the night with our beloved friends and family!

The Couple Recommends:

All of our vendors were outstanding! I would really recommend my great wedding planner, Southern Fete! They were very professional, kept me on schedule and budget and had great ideas for everything! There were so many compliments on the band I chose, Phat Hat Band!!! I’m also in awe every time I look at our wedding photos from Erin & Geoffrey Photography!

As timeless as it is romantic, blush, ivory, and gold are a color palette we love every time we see it. The soft pink shade is feminine without being over-the-top, while the ivory provides a sense of tradition and the gold caters to a classic and chic wedding style. From bridal accessories to table decor to floral arrangements, a color scheme of blush, ivory, and gold is effortless to employ throughout your wedding design.

Adventurous Erskine Falls Elopement + Wedding Film

October 21, 2015 | Junebug Weddings

FRED AND HANNAH FOR JUNEBUG (46 of 73)

Sunny and Adam decided to honor the excitement and unpredictability of love with an adventurous elopement at Erskine Falls. With the natural surroundings serving as every bit of wedding décor necessary for their day, the bride and groom’s fashion choices couldn’t have been lovelier: Sunny wore a long-sleeve lace gown by Mariana Hardwick paired with a fresh floral crown by Pomp and Splendour, and Adam wore a cerulean suit by MJ Bale. We’re so thrilled that the couple hired both Humdrum Films and Fred + Hannah to capture the day through both film and photography, as both resulted in impossibly beautiful pieces of art that the newlyweds will cherish forever.

The Couple:

Sunny and Adam

The Wedding:

Erskine Falls, Lorne, Australia

The Inspiration:

Well we wanted our day to be a happy and relaxed one. We refused to worry about the weather and anything else beyond our control, although we were blessed with a magical Melbourne day. I didn’t really spend too much time looking for inspiration, we knew what we wanted it was just a matter of finding the perfect location and vendors.

The Moments:

Adam: Turning around and seeing Sunny for the first time as she walked on the rocks towards me, she looked stunning and I couldn’t wait for her to be my wife.

Sunny: While I was saying my vows. We both wrote very raw, heartfelt vows and I was really struggling to get through mine. At one point I got overwhelmed with emotions thinking about my lost loved ones and I became very upset but having Adam there telling me that I was amazing and he was so proud of me and that he was there for me and he was going to help me through this and be there for me for the rest of our lives really helped me to get through, all whilst wiping my tears away…there is no way I could have done it without him.

The Couple Recommends:

Each one of our amazing vendors went above and beyond in their own way. Fred and Hannah work with us on our engagement shoot also so we felt very comfortable with them on the day. They also did some amazing ground work and hunted down all the right spots to take our portraits for the wedding to ensure that no time was wasted on the big day. We realise how much time they saved us and really when you see the portraits you can see why they are so good at what they do, the backdrops are breathtaking.

Lindsay let us have 100% freedom with our ceremony while giving us some great pointers for the big day. Without her suggestions I would have felt quite lost and our ceremony would not have been the way it was if not for her. She is a truely special person and we will never forget her help and compassion on our day, a rare gem when it comes to celebrants these days.

The boys are Humdrum deserve a medal to be honest. They not only made us relax on the day and feel as though they were not present at all (in a good way of course) therefore helping us to feel a lot less pressure and relaxed as well, but they have spent months tirelessly editing our film to make it the magical film it is. We continue to watch it over and over and we are so in love with you. They have mange to capture us just as we were on our day, happy and relaxed.

Our family and friends are so in love with our video and photos and we are so grateful to our team for making our wedding dreams becoming reality
