When you love Wes Anderson movies as much as Raquel and Josa, it only makes sense to scatter your favorite elements throughout your wedding day! Among reception decor of woodland creatures and tiny teepees arranged by Bodas de Cuento, the Moonrise Kingdom quote “We’re in love. We just want to be together. What’s wrong with that?” captured the spirit of Raquel and Josa’s day. During their portrait session with F2Studio, the newlyweds even whipped out two Fantastic Mr. Fox-inspired masks to add a bit of themed whimsy to the images they’ll look back on for years to come.
We are Wes Anderson fans and we love nature, so we decide to mix both of them having details in wood, a camp tent for the children, and animal masks inspired by Fantastic Mr Fox.
I wanted to be comfortable and feel pretty, so I wore an Otaduy dress called Santigold, shoes from Jimmy Choo (gold and beautiful!), a gold headdress from Tocados Le Touquet. My aunt gave me the earrings I wore when I was a child; they’re so special for me.
Congratulations to Raquel and Josa on their Wes Anderson inspired wedding! For more quirky wedding inspiration, check out Emma and Rory’s colorful handmade backyard Surrey wedding.
Between Erica and Jeffrey’s thrilling first look on a cliff, the open air chapel of Camp Mitchell, and the endless rustic elegance throughout their wedding decor, our hearts are all a flutter this afternoon. Erica’s romantic lace mermaid gown and the cascading pink ribbon from her bouquet made for insanely jaw-dropping portraits as the soon-to-be husband and wife embraced on a rocky overlook with Arkansas in the background. Post-ceremony, the newlyweds and guests indulged in three delicious cakes, displayed beautifully upon a vintage dresser.
The most memorable part of the day was when we saw each other at our first look. He looked so handsome standing there waiting for me, and the view was breathtaking. Truly, that moment felt like a fairytale! Not to mention I had been a ball of nerves all morning, worrying about wedding details, but being able to hug him and speak to him before the ceremony made it all come into perspective.
From the moment we got engaged, I knew that finding an amazing photographer was going to be my most important task. I wanted to be confident that every moment of the day was documented perfectly and that whoever we hired had some incredible talent. It took me six months to find what I was looking for! We are so lucky to have found Connor & Danielle!
For our ceremony, we wanted something different. Camp Mitchell is not a place where weddings are held every weekend. In fact, they only do a few a year during their off season. It was a pretty original place! I hunted for months and when we walked into that open air chapel on the cliff, we knew that was where we would get married.
In three words, I would describe our wedding to be elegant, vintage, and rustic. I chose to use mainly mercury glass centerpieces, a few milk glass and antique silver, along with vintage wooden pieces. We even hung string lights over the dance floor. Jordan’s Vintage Rentals did a great job doing our set up and it looked exactly as I would have hoped!
